Nira Snyder

77 year old Nira Snyder of McMinnville passed away Sunday at NHC of McMinnville. She was retired from Caney Fork Electric Cooperative and a member of the Bratcher Cross Road Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bobby Wheeler will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 3 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taft Snyder; parents, Elmer and Beulah Hendrixson; sister, Judy Martin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Will and Vinnie Snyder; and special friend Charlie Hillis. Survivors include two sons, Chris and Kelley Snyder of Rock Island and Shannon and Jennifer Snyder of McMinnville. Seven grandchildren, Bethany and Johnny Mack of Cookeville, Brettley and Jessie Miller of McMinnville, Olivia Snyder of Rock Island, Zackary Snyder of Smithville, Noah Snyder of McMinnville, Alexandria Reed of McMinnville, and Andrea Reed of McMinnville. Nine great grandchildren. A sister, Lori and Wes Rogers of Smithville. A brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Nell Snyder of Alabama. Brother-in-law, Royce Martin of Liberty. Larry Glenn Davenport

March 10, 2019

69 year old Larry Glenn Davenport of Liberty died Saturday at Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital. Davenport was retired from TRW. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn Davenport, and Lucille Mathis, and wife Betty Davenport. Survivors include children Wesley Davenport of Sparta, Brian and Kirstin Davenport of Columbia, J R and Samantha Spain of Smyrna, Chris and Ashley Davenport of Franklin, Ky., and Heather and Garrett Palmer of Raleigh, NC. Grandchildren Alan, Tanner, Jackson, Gabriel, Lorelai, Lucas,and Isabella. His beloved dog Apache. Brothers, and sister Hugh and Teri Davenport, Mickey and Jenifer Davenport, Leanne McGill, and several nieces , and nephews. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, March 12 at 1 PM at Davenport Family Cemetery. Thurman Seber will officiate. Visitation will be Monday 4-8pm, and Tuesday 10-12. Bobbye Sue Fish

March 8, 2019

86 year old Bobbye Sue Fish of Smithville passed away Friday at NHC Smithville. She was a member of the Smithville Church of God and was retired from Norvelle. The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. Chris Moore and Graden Kirksey will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and Sunday from 2 p.m. until the service at 4 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Fish; parents, Cecil and Aileen Foster Nixon; a brother, Auburn Nixon; and a sister, Louye Self. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda and John Inglis and Linda and Jimmy Keith of Smithville. One son, Greg and Sissy Fish of Dowelltown. Five grandchildren, Tia Inglis, Brandon and Chasity Keith all of Smithville, Andy and Andria Keith of Dowelltown, Nick and Lauren Keith of Liberty, and Dalton and Caroline Fish of Georgia. Six great grandchildren, Jordan and Alyssa Reeder, Dillan Reeder, Braden Givens all of Smithville, Hannah Keith and Everly Keith both of Dowelltown and Parker Keith of Smithville. Brother-in-law, J.C. Self of Goodlettsville. Sister-in-law, Helen Nixon of Smithville. Special friend and long time caretaker Elaine Cowart. Several nieces and nephews survive. Jewell White Tate

March 7, 2019

86 year old Jewell White Tate of Smithville passed away Wednesday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.  She was a member of Smithville First Baptist Church and  was formerly employed at Westinghouse in Smithville and as a cafeteria worker at Battleground Academy. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 10, 2019  at 2:00 p.m. at the  Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.  Bro. Chad Ramsey and Bro. Bill Palmiter will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.    Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Elsie Bennett White; her husband, Howard Tate; a sister, Lavelle Anderson and a brother, T. J. White.  Survivors include her daughter,  Carol and Gary Buckles of Franklin; granddaughter, Lexi Cothran of Franklin; and grandson, Kace Buckles.  Two sisters, Jo Dean Redmon and Billie Joyce Webster of Smithville.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. Roscoe Burton Rigsby

March 7, 2019

Mr. Roscoe Burton Rigsby age 91 of Dowelltown, TN, died Wednesday, March 06, 2019, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville, TN. He was born April 13, 1927, in Van Buren County, TN, was a retired farmer, a World War II/U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and a member of Cumberland Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Rigsby was preceded in death by parents Ewin Oliver and Laura Mae Pack Rigsby, first wife Betty Jean Rogers Rigsby, son Paul Dwaine Rigsby, sisters Nina Mae Rigsby and Inez Faye Martin, and a brother Ewin O. Rigsby, Jr.

Survivors include his wife Marie Allen Rigsby, his children Bruce (Peggie) Rigsby, Diana (Ernest) Burdett, and Deborah (Timothy) Wanamaker, daughter-in-law Sharon Rigsby Mooneyham, and brothers George Lee Rigsby and Eugene (Pat) Rigsby. Nine grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.

Funeral service is 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 09, 2019, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Dennis Deweese and Bro. Tony Smedley officiating. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and V. F. W. Post 5064. The Rigsby Family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Eddie Taylor

60 year old Eddie Taylor of Smithville passed away Tuesday at St. Thomas West in Nashville. He was a Baptist and a self-employed drywall installer. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Steve Taylor will officiate and burial will be in the Young Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Mason and Lillie Lucille Pollard Taylor and a brother, Donnie Taylor. Survivors include a daughter, Olivia Taylor; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Allison Taylor; three grandchildren, Cassidy Orcutt, Landon Hutchins, and John Luke Taylor all of Smithville. One sister, Deloris Haggard of Baxter. One brother and sister-in-law, Beecher and Betty Taylor of Smithville. Eight nieces and nephews, James Taylor of White County, Steve Taylor of Pikeville, Mike Taylor of McMinnville, John Haggard and Chris Haggard both of Baxter, Angie Moore and Charlene Hallum of Smithville and Amy Rogers of Baxter.
