Kenneth Lee Bain

Mr. Kenneth Lee Bain age 65 of Smithville, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1954 to his parents, the late Alton and Willie May Cantrell Bain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a daughter, Stacey Powell; 2 sisters, Eva Roberts and Nina Self. Kenneth was a roofer and farmer and affiliated with the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Debra Lynn Bain of Smithville; 2 children, Nelda Bandy of Smithville and Kenny Bain, Jr. (Roxanne Landis) of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Briana (Austin) Ellis. Gavin Bain, Braxton Bain, Jacob Bandy, Tanisha Bandy and Dayne Powell; 4 great-grandchildren, Alejandra and Isaiah Gutierrez, Aaron Bandy and Noah Bandy; 2 brothers, Toy “Buck” Bain of Smithville and James Bain of Baxter; 3 sisters, Dot Thaxton, Annett Bain and Doretta Taylor all of McMinnville; several half-brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 4:30 PM Thursday, August 27, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Joel Wood officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 1 PM until the time of the service at 4:30 PM. Due to COVID 19, the Governor’s Executive Orders 38 and 51, and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. Our pews in the chapel are marked off to allow 100-125 people for the service and to respect the guidelines. The Funeral Home lounge is currently closed and No food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. William Sherwood and Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church for the love shown during Kenneth’s illness. Mary Ann Atnip Biggs Yarman

Mary Ann Atnip Biggs Yarman age 86 of Cookeville and a native of Smithville, passed away suddenly at her residence on Monday, August 24, 2020. She was born November 24, 1933 to her parents, the late Lonnie “L.S. and Eliza Lee Foutch Atnip. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Biggs and Charles Yarman; 2 sons, T.R. Biggs and Patrick Biggs; grandson, Kristopher Goodbread and a brother, T.C. Atnip. Mary Ann was a homemaker and a member of the Cookeville First Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter, Robin Biggs Goodbread of Nashville; 2 grandchildren, Allen Goodbread and Kesha Underwood; 7 great-grandchildren; step-children; 1 brother, Boyd (Emogene) Atnip of Smithville; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral services will be 11:AM Friday, August 28, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jordan Atnip officiating and burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville at 3 PM Friday. Visitation with the family will be on Friday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cookeville First Baptist Church, in memory of Mary Ann. Due to COVID 19 and the Governor’s Executive Orders 38 and 51, and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you follow social distancing guidelines. Ann Marie Cantrell

Ann Marie Cantrell age 53 of Smithville passed away at her residence Saturday, August 22, 2020. She was born July 5, 1967 to her parents, Raymond Eugene and Shirley Ann Prater Joslyn. She was preceded in death by a son Jacob Cantrell; paternal grandparents, Chuck and Betty Walker; maternal grandparents, Dub and Frances Prater. Mrs. Cantrell worked at Federal Mogul. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Cantrell of Smithville; 3 children, Matthew Cantrell, Hayle Cantrell, and Jade Cantrell all of Smithville; 1 grandchild; parents, Raymond and Shirley Joslyn of Smithville; sister Alice (Paul) Hutchens of Smithville; nieces and nephews, Ashley (Raymond) Lippart, Andrew (Gennie) Hutchens, Tiffany (Bobby) Price and Bridget (Rainey) Howell. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday August 26, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday August 25, 2020 at 4PM until 7 PM and on Wednesday August 26, 2020 at 10:AM until the time of the service at 1PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Due to the COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. Nancy Gail Elledge

August 24, 2020

Nancy Gail Elledge age 61 of Cookeville formerly of Dowelltown, passed away Friday August 21, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 4, 1959 to her parents the late Joe Howard and Vivian Boggess Elledge. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Elledge; father of her son, Billy Joe Davis. Ms. Elledge was disabled. She is survived by a son, Adam (Marcie) Davis of Sparta; grandson, Braxton Joe Davis of Smithville; sister, Donnita Linder of Smithville; brother, Donnie (Kimberly) Elledge of Clinton, TN., nieces, Keely, Courtney, and Christy. The family has honored her request to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Barbara June Hale

August 22, 2020

Barbara June Hale age 80 of Liberty, TN, passed away Monday night, August 17, 2020 at her son’s residence in Avon, IN. She was born August 11, 1940 to her parents, the late Adam Frank and Roberta Payne Daughtry in Soddy Daisy, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ed Abernathy; previous husband, Wayne O’rear and 10 brothers and sisters. She lived many years in Indiana. Barbara attended the Temperance Hall Pentecostal Church and was retired quality controller in air craft electronics. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Lonnie Hale of Liberty; children, Chris Alexander of Rome, GA, Stephen (Cathy) Agnew of Kennesaw, GA, Stacy (Beckie) Agnew of Avon, IN, Arthur Agnew of Clarksville, TN, Kevin (Judith) Hale of Smithville, Stacey (Misty) Hale of Hartsville and Chrystal Hale of Smithville; 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Gail (Nathan) Warren of Cookeville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris McMillen officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. Due to Covid-19 and the Governor’s Executive Orders 38 and 51, and Social Distancing guidelines, we ask for the safety and health that you please exercise social distancing. Carl Glenn Stembridge

August 22, 2020

Carl Glenn Stembridge, age 66, of McMinnville passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. He was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include his children, Carla Stembridge, Tyler Stembridge, & Collin Stembridge, all of Woodbury & Shane Cook of Liberty; Stepdaughter, Lisa Brown of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Courtney Barrett & Trenton Bynum; Brothers, Harrell Stembridge, James (Sondra) Stembridge of Woodbury & Wade (Pat) Stembridge of Kunkla, OH; and Sisters, Bernice (Darce) Wimberly & Teresa Farless, both of Woodbury & Carolyn (Tommy) Burks of Murfreesboro. A great grandchild also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel & Mary Susan Harrell Stembridge; and Siblings, Joy Stembridge, Clarence Stembridge, Frank Stembridge, Russell Stembridge, Brenda Redmon, & Joe Bob Stembridge.

Carl was a member of the Baptist church and was a farrier and a horse trainer.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM Monday, August 24, 2020 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Quentin Cook, Taylor Cook, Randall Deberry, Thomas Russell, Greg Wimberly, Trenton Bynum, & Jonathan Redmon.

Donations may be made to Woodbury Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
