Mrs. Breanna Rippetoe McClure, age 37, of McMinnville passed away on Wednesday at River Park Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Christine Bates.

She is survived by her husband- Brandon McClure, Mother- Christie Rippetoe both of McMinnville, Sister- Chrissa Bates of Mt. Juliet, Special cousin- Crystal Hale of Smithville, Sisters-In-Law- Monica Cope, Elizabeth Childress, Kacie Pease & Misty Newby, Bro-In-Law- Kevin McClure and Mother-In-Law- Donna Pease all of McMinnville.

The family has chosen to have a private service for select family and friends.

Roger Herman Chapman

August 22, 2021

Mr. Roger Herman Chapman, age 60, of Smithville passed away Friday at his residence. He was a Christian, avid hunter & worked at DeKalb County Co-Op.

He was preceded in death by his parents- Willie Herman & Doris Ervin Chapman, nephew- Michael Murphy & Parents-In-Law- Solon & Josephine Barnes.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years- Leeta Barnes Chapman of Smithville, Daughter- Christie & Rick Allen of Gainesboro, 2 Step grandchildren- MaKayla Allen of Knoxville and Hadyn Allen of Gainesboro, 1 Sister- Drenda Murphy & Basil Foutch of Smithville.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 and on Monday from 9 to service time at 11. Burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Bro. Leonard Herman will be holding the service.

In addition to flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Shirley Faye Prater Hayes

August 22, 2021

Shirley Faye Prater Hayes age 70, of Murfreesboro and a long-time resident of Dowelltown, passed away Friday morning August 20, 2021 at her residence. She was born November 26, 1950 to her parents the late Benjamin and Virginia Lucille Thomas Prater. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby “Blue” Hayes; son, Joel Hayes; sister Janella Prater and brother Greg Prater. Ms. Hayes was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and worked as Payroll Administrator at Federal Mogul. She is survived by daughter, Lora (Tony) Hortert of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Christian Hortert (Leslie King), Garrett Hortert and Rachel Hortert; sister Marcia (Bobby) Mayo of Woodbury; sister-in-law, Barbara Harris of Macon, GA. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Sunday August 22, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bryan Jones officiating and burial to follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM till 7 PM and Sunday 1 PM until the time of the service at 4 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Joe Donald Young

August 20, 2021

Joe Donald Young age 81 of Alexandria, passed away Thursday evening, August 19, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born August 13, 1940 to his parents, the late Elzie and Gracie Lee Ervin Young. Joe was a member of the House of Prayer, a farmer and worked for the DeKalb County Highway Department for about 25 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 60 years, Nora Curtis Young of Alexandria; 5 children, Tim (Ronda) Young of Smithville, Melissa (Mario) Castillo of Smithville, Curtis (Tina) Young of McMinnville, Jerry (Michelle) Young of Gordonsville and Jason (Stacy) Young of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren, Paige Young, Courtney Young, Bethany (Quis) Bates, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Letner, Hannah Young, Jessalyn Young, Ashley Bond< Hannah Bond, Elijah Young, Hunter Robertson and Cheyenne Young; 5 great-grandchildren, Aleigha Bates, MaKaylee Bates, Jaxon Letner, Maverick King and Clayton King; 3 sisters, Helen Fulton, Margaret Rackley and Linda Judkins all of McMinnville. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, August 22, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM until 7 PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Ricky Wayne Hayes

Ricky Wayne Hayes age 67, of Smithville, passed away Monday night August 16, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born November 29, 1953 to his parents, James Hayes and the late Mary Hayes. Ricky was a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church and retired after 37 years from Timers, after retiring he worked for Averitt for a few years. He is survived by his father, James Hayes of Smithville; sister, Vicky (Joe) Bogle of Smithville; nephew, Tony (Amanda) Trapp of Smithville; niece, Michelle (Paul) Cantrell of Smithville; special great nieces and nephews, Brittany Wilkerson, Gage Trapp, Kylee Cantrell, Holden Trapp, Bryson Trapp; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday August 20, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Mahan officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday 4 PM till 7 PM and on Friday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Haley Jewel House

August 16, 2021

Haley Jewel House age 86, passed away Monday August 16, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. Born April 1, 1930 into the family of Condell and Lillian Close House. She was the eighth child of thirteen children. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Fred Dawson House that was killed in action in World War II, 2 other brothers, James Earl as a baby and 1 stillborn, Robert Lee House; sisters, Minnie Frances Miller, Drucy Mai Midgett, Martha Lee Lamberson, Evelyn Nokes and Ova Lorene Campbell. She was a member of Dale Ridge Baptist Church and worked at the Rubber Plant in Lebanon where she retired from in the mid 90’s. She was never married. She is survived by 1 sister, Mary Louise House, a special needs sister that Ms. House cared for the last 40 years; brothers, Billy Freeman (Susan) House of Dowelltown, Leland Carter (Sue) House of Alexandria, and Douglas Patton (Dinah) House of Liberty; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Public Graveside service will be held 2 PM Tuesday August 17, 2021 at Gordonsville Cemetery with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
