Randall Wayne Redmon

Mr. Randall Wayne Redmon age 68 of Smithville, TN passed away Wednesday morning, October 19, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Redmon was born on November 16, 1953 in McMinnville, TN to his parents, Jo Dean White Redmon & the late Loyd Redmon. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents, Tom (Elsie) White & Paternal Grandparents, Harmon Redmon & Oma (Bryan) Summers. He had worked as a Laborer in Construction.

The family has chosen direct cremation. No services are planned at this time.

Survivors include his Mother, Jo Dean White Redmon of Smithville, TN. Brother, Larry (Gayle) Redmon of Smithville, TN. Niece, Lori Redmon Chew of Murfreesboro, TN. Nephew, John (Monica) Redmon of Mt. Juliet, TN. Aunts, Billie Joyce Webster & Jeanette Smithson. Several Cousins also survive.

Joe William Cobb

October 17, 2022

Joe William Cobb, age 81, of Wartrace, Bedford County, Tennessee passed away into the arms of Jesus on October 13, 2022. He was born to Claude Thomas Cobb and Lura Elminia Tant on September 13, 1941 in Dickson, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings; Johnny L. Cobb, Bobby T. Cobb, Jack L. Cobb, Ruby J. Woosley, David A. Tant Jr. & Nellie Faye Hamblin .

He leaves behind 5 siblings; Claude T. Cobb Jr., Betty E. Naylor, Margaret S. Gresham, Linda A. King-Smith, and Larry M. Tant. He was also the beloved father of his adopted grandchildren, Kameron Nichole Cobb, Damien Elliott Byford, Adriana Marie Byford, Nathan William Cobb, to whom they called “Papa”. “

“Papa Joe” was an avid fan of TV Westerns, and football. He was a heavy equipment operator at CFC in Tullahoma for many years. He is noted for his sense of humor and for always saying “I’m the bull of the woods” as well as “you ask for the bull – you get the horns”. Rest easy Pops, you will be remembered.

Gary Herman de Mik

October 14, 2022

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Gary de Mik, loving husband, father of three, grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of nine passed away at the age of 85.

Gary was born on October 4, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He received his bachelor’s degree, master’s, and doctorate degrees from the University of Utah. Gary was an entrepreneur at heart. He started and ran a successful business in Denver, Colorado before purchasing and running Hidden Harbor Marina in Smithville, Tennessee.

On June 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Carol. They raised two daughters, Stacey and Erin, and a son, Steve.

Gary devoted his life to his family and caring for them. He had a passion for life, golf, boating, and life on a lake. He was a marvelous cook. He loved music. He had a big heart and an infectious smile and sense of humor. He was a dreamer – and he made his dreams come true.

He is survived by his wife Carol; children, Stacey (Brian), Erin (Mark) and Steve (Angie) and their children and grandchildren and his brother Joe.

The celebration of life service will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm, October 23, at Hidden Harbor Marina Campground, in Smithville, Tennessee. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gradyn Elijah “Earl” Harvey

October 14, 2022

Gradyn Elijah “Earl” Harvey age 4, of Alexandria went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2022 at Monroe Carell Jr. Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital following a tragic accident. Eli was born July 22, 2018 in Chattanooga. Eli was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Tommy Harvey; maternal great-grandfather, Ray Donald Webb; paternal great-grandparents, Joe Thomas and Alene Harvey and Bro. Grady and Athlene McGinnis. He attended the Helton Creek The Baptist Church with his family. Eli was in Pre-K at DeKalb West School. He enjoyed riding the tractor with his daddy and going to check on the cows. He loved making friends and never met a stranger. Eli may have been little, but in 4 short years he made such an impact with his smile, personality and love. He was a giant in a little body, his heart was truly bigger than he was. He was a gift to his family and community and our lives are forever changed because of the last 4 years with Eli. He leaves to cherish so many wonderful memories, his parents, Chad and Kayla Harvey of Alexandria; brother, Jack Harvey and sister, Haddeigh Grace Harvey both of Alexandria; soon arriving sister, Parker Kayte Harvey; maternal grandparents, Jenny Mathis (Mike Redmon) of Dowelltown; Michael and Tara Hale of Smithville; Scott and Myra Sircy of Carthage; paternal grandmother, Miranda Harvey of Alexandria; maternal great-grandparents, Gary and Judy Mathis of Liberty, Nelson and Vicky Sandlin of Liberty and Betty Webb of Smithville; aunts and uncles, Samantha (Brey) Dedmon, Jaley Hale (Trevor Shim), Maddox Hale, Kevin (Angela) Harvey, Randal (Tara) Harvey and Rachel (Beau) Beechboard; cousins, Ridge Dedmon, Kailey Havey, Wyatt Harvey, Chloe Beth Beechboard and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services celebrating his life will be 2 PM Sunday, October 16, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Frank Randolph and Gary Glover officiating and burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery with Bro. Eric Wood officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 1 PM until 8 PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Bro. Donald Owens

Funeral services for Bro. Donald Owens will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 14, 2022, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon with Pastor Evan Owens, Bro. W. D. Thomason and Pastor Jeff Pratt officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens with Eld. Tanner Troutt officiating. Visitation Thursday 3-8 PM and Friday 10 AM -1:45 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Bro. Owens, age 89 of Lebanon passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Born Ray Donald Owen on March 30, 1933, in Smithville, Tennessee, he is the son of the late Willie and Ethel Ballinger Owen. He attended elementary school in Dekalb County and his first two years of high school at Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy. He graduated from Dekalb County High School in 1951, and attended Middle Tennessee State University for three years. Bro. Owens was saved at the age of nine, and accepted the call to preach at the age of thirteen. He was ordained to the gospel ministry on October 4, 1947, and had been in the pastorate since the age of eighteen. He had pastored Green Hill Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Bradley’s Creek Baptist Church in Milton, Rutledge Falls Baptist Church in Tullahoma, Shellsford Baptist Church in McMinnville, Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon from 1963 to 2000, and had been the pastor of Dry Creek Baptist Church in Dowelltown since 2001. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty nine years, Audrey Parker Owens on July 10, 2021; grandson, Destry Nave; sister, Carlyne Dickey, and brother, Edwin Owen.

He is survived by three children: David (Mary) Owens, Terry (Nancy) Owens, and Krisa (Jason) Bush; grandchildren: Joel (Erin) Owens, Evan (Megan) Owens, Grant Owens, Callie (Ethan) Farley, Jake Bush, and Jordan Bush; great grandchildren: Colbie Owens, Murphy Jane Nave, Rhett Owens, Mack Owens, and Maeve Farley; and s sister, Georgia Hawker.

Honorary pallbearers: Great grandchildren, and members of Dry Creek Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers: Joel, Evan & Grant Owens, Jake & Jordan Bush, Callie & Ethan Farley, and Charles Parker.

Peggy Joyce Poss

Mrs. Peggy Joyce Poss age 89 of Madison, TN passed away Tuesday night, October 11, 2022 at Life Care Center of Old Hickory.

Mrs. Poss was born on April 7, 1933 in Lawrenceburg, TN to her parents, the late Amos & Mable Davidson Bates. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Poss, Siblings, Thomas Bates, Mildred Sadler, Rohbell Pointer and Billy Bates, and her beloved pet, Smokey.

Mrs. Poss was a member of Mt. View The Baptist Church. She enjoyed going fishing and visiting the beach. She always loved cheering on her favorite teams, Atlanta Braves, University of TN and Tennessee Titans.

She is survived by 4 children, Danny (Pamela) Poss, Terry (Jill) Poss, Donna (Mark) Brooks and Teddy Poss. 8 grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Poss, Jillian (Dennis) Tollison, Brittany (Courtney) Cagle, Ashleigh (Austin) Hines, Benjamin (Ashley) Brooks, Halleigh Poss, Taylor Poss and Zachary Poss. 14 Great-Grandchildren, Brileigh Poss, Mason Poss, Braxton Poss, Carter Tollison, Tanner Tollison, Everett Hines, Graysen Hines, Kaelynn Bowman, Ayvah Poss, Jolynne Poss, Lily Kate Cagle, Kree Tollison, Evelyann Brooks and James Haley Brooks.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 10 until the service at 2. Burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bro. Dwight Knowles will offciate.
