Peggy Ann Adams

Peggy Ann Adams age 70 of Dowelltown, passed away Friday night, October 28, 2022 at her residence. She was born November 6, 1951 to her parents, the late Charles Edward and Eula Eva Fitzpatrick Guthrie. She had worked as a dietician in a nursing facility, managed a BP Store and later worked at a lead in factory. Peggy was a member of the First Assembly of God in Union City. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Richard Adams of Dowelltown; 2 daughters, Eulajean S Herold of Bolivar, TN and Kimberly G Mayo of Union City, TN; 5 grandchildren, Jerry Darnall, Austin Harshfield, Angelica Greenway, Hunter Elliston and Deacon Osteen; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Zayden, Kadence, Leela, Releigh and Grayson; 2 sisters, Thelma Gladstone of Florida and Norma Childres of Union City, TN; 2 brothers, Johnny Stanford and Thomas Stanford both of Union City, TN. The family has honored Peggy’s request to be cremated and a celebration of life gathering will be held at the family home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Olivia Daryl Taylor

October 28, 2022

Olivia Daryl Taylor age 15 of Cookeville, TN passed away on October 27, 2022.

Olivia was born on June 21, 2007 in Cookeville, TN to her parents, Ronnie Taylor and Stephanie Machelle Harness. Olivia was a student attending Upperman High School in Baxter, TN where she was a member of the Wrestling Team and the ROTC. She loved baking, sewing, singing, being an artist and playing the ukulele.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 12noon from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Darrell Gill & Bro. Trent Colwell will officiate with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with family will be on Saturday, from 2-8pm, Sunday, 2-8pm & Monday, from 9am until the service time at 12noon.

Olivia was preceded in death by her Brother, Justin Taylor. Step Father, Jon Morris. Maternal Grandmother, Vivian Hoose. Maternal Grandparents, Larry and Marge Morris. Paternal Grandmother, Brenda Taylor & Paternal Grandfather, John Wright.

Survivors include her Father, Ronnie (Stacy) Taylor of Smithville, TN. Mother, Stephanie (Jeff Burchett) Harness of Cookeville, TN. 5 Siblings, Jared Taylor and Chad Taylor both of Smithville, TN, Tyler Whitcomb of Cookeville, TN, Haley Grace Taylor of Smithville, TN, Keegan Taylor of Smithville, TN and Emily (Arrion) Matthews of Smithville, TN. Maternal Grandfather, Darrel (Joy) Harness of Cookeville, TN. Paternal Grandfather, Grady Taylor of Smithville, TN. Paternal Grandmother, Kathy Wright of Smithville, TN. 3 Special Aunts, Megan Harness and Leatrice Myers both of Cookeville, TN and Vickey Atnip of Smithville, TN. Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends also survive.

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp of Smithville, TN or to the Upperman High School ROTC of Baxter, TN in memory of Olivia.

Geraldine “Gerry” Saso

October 27, 2022

Geraldine “Gerry” Saso age 83, of Liberty, formerly of California, passed away October 26, 2022 at N H C of Smithville. She was born March 23, 1939 to her parents the late Joseph and Anna Saraceno Magaddino. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, John Magaddino. Mrs. Saso worked as a bookkeeper for different companies throughout her life, with the last company being Franklin and Downs Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Saso of Liberty; children, Robert J. (Tina) Saso of Liberty, and Deanna Saso of Liberty; grandchildren, Brittanie (Dylan) Varble of California, Desiree Boone of Ill., and Angela (James) Basey of Louisiana; 11 great-grandchildren; great friend, Bob Laninfa of California. The family has honored Mrs. Saso request to be cremated and no services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to the Scleroderma “a form of Arthritis” Society. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Linda Edith Golden

October 27, 2022

Mrs. Linda Edith Golden age 77 of Smithville, TN passed away Wednesday night, October 26, 2022 at the Emergency Room of St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

Mrs. Golden was born on March 11, 1945 in Smithville, TN to her parents, the late Curnel & Altie Mae Driver Young. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Lee Golden, sister & brother-in-law, Hattie Dale & Fred Maynard & son-in-law, Randy Stamps. She was formerly a Sewing Machine Operator & was a member of Pomeroy Chapel Brethren in Christ.

The family has chosen Cremation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later time.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Willie Bethel Golden. Son, Kernnie Golden. 2 Daughters, Dewana Stamps & Jennifer (Joe) Nokes. Grandchildren, Tiera Anderson, Amy Nokes, Sarah Nokes, Hattie Nokes. Great Granddaughter, Madison Anderson. Special Friend, Brandi Cantrell.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses in memory of Mrs. Golden.

Helen Ruth Vandagriff Burt

October 24, 2022

Helen Ruth Vandagriff Burt age 89 of Alexandria and formerly of the Dry Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, October 24, 2022 at Quality Care Health and Rehab in Lebanon. She was born May 27, 1933 to her parents, the late John Floyd and May Farler Vandagriff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Sherwood D. Burt; daughter, Debbie O’Connor; son, Rickey Parsley; 2 sons-in-law, Jere O’Connor and Kenneth Corley; grandson, Phillip Parsley, Jr.; 2 sisters, Cornelia Collins, Audrey Frazier and brother, Joe Vandagriff. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Chruch in Lebanon. Helen worked at Better Bilt Aluminum in Nashville and Alexandria Garment then her last employment was at DeKalb Middle School Cafeteria. She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 children, Phillip (Janice) Parsley of Smyrna; Larry (Miriam) Parsley of Murfreesboro and Vicki Corley of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren, Sharon, Laverne, James, Amy, Dustin, Mike, Leslie, Josh, Caleb, Stacie, Kim, Nick and Erica; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fay Vandagriff Elrod of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Terry Carver and Dusty Bradley officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Vickie Mae Knowles

Ms. Vickie Mae Knowles age 63 of Smithville, TN passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at NHC Healthcare of Smithville, TN.

Ms. Vickie was born on May 6, 1959 in Nashville, TN to her parents the late James Clifton & Reba Mae Poss Knowles. Also preceding her in death is a sister, Sandra Knowles. She had worked at the Prospect Group Home and was a member of the Mt. View The Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 1pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Dennis Wood will officiate with burial to follow at Young Bend Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, from 4-8pm and Monday, from 10am until the time of the services at 1pm.

Survivors include her Brother, Dwight (Donna) Knowles. Niece, Shelly (Chad) Jennings. Nephew, Jared (Karen) Knowles. Great Nieces & Nephews, Hunter Jennings, Emma Jennings, Isaac Knowles & Katherine Knowles all of Smithville, TN. Special Friend, Rita Young of Smithville, TN, Special Caregiver, Holly Bullard of Smithville, TN & Special Friends and Staff at Prospect Group Home.
