78 year old Brenda Faye Alcorn of Alexandria died Thursday at her residence. Born in Old Hickory, Alcorn was a homemaker. The family has chosen direct cremation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene Howard Scott, Sr. and Gladys Estell Covington. Survivors include children, Steve and Cathy Alcorn of Lafayette, Jeff Alcorn of Lebanon, and Patsy Key of Alexandria. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. A brother, Gene Howard Scott, Jr. of Old Hickory and a niece, Stephanie Scott of Old Hickory. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Rodney Wayne Hattaway age 72 of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning, March 31, 2019 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1946 to his parents, the late Clem Robert and Helen Bernice Bullimore Hattaway. Mr. Hattaway was a Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in Southeast Asia during Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart, Air Force commendation medal. Rodney worked as a mod lab technologist with the federal government. He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kat” Hattaway of Smithville; 2 sons, Mike and wife, Tonya Hattaway of Smithville, Robert Hattaway of Winchester; 2 step-sons, Tony and wife, Michael Kathleen Asbrock of Murfreesboro and Jeremy Asbrock and wife, Hannah Fairlight of Nashville; 8 grandchildren, Cody Wayne Hattaway, Julian Claire Webb, Clayton Hattaway, Jacob Hattaway, Preston Parsons, Ian Asbrock, Connor Asbrock and Rory Asbrock; 1 brother, Steve Hattaway of Dibrell; 1 sister, Ann Angel of McMinnville. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Mike Hattaway and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Jefferson Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund or American Diabetes Association, in memory of Mr. Hattaway. Richard Edward “Rich” Goss age 43 of Manchester, TN, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard attended the First Baptist Church in Manchester, was a U.S. Army veteran in the 1st Battalion 506st Infantry 101st Airborne and he worked as a Foreman with Wright Tree Service, which he loved. His passion was the Boy Scouts, in which he served as Assistant Scout Master in Troop 197 in Murfreesboro. He also was a former volunteer fireman. Rich had a love for fishing, hunting, camping, climbing trees and mountains. He leaves to cherish his memory, 3 children, Lane, Timothy and Rebekah Goss all of Dowelltown; mother, Margaret Reardon of Medford, MA; sister, Kelley (Jim) Campbell of Tewksbury, MA and a host of family and friends. The family has honored Richard’s request to be cremated. There will be a Memorial Service 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Wilson Williams officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1pm. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Rich. Jamey Douglas Hutchings age 50 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday night, March 27, 2019 at his residence. He was born January 4, 1969 to his parents, Edward and Janie Barnes Hutchings. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Everett and Louise Hutchings and maternal grandparents, Herman and Vella Barnes. Jamey was a Christian and worked as a computer programmer. His passion in life was playing music. From playing in band in high school to playing in the band Why Not, and eventually on to his exciting six year adventure playing in John Conlee’s Band which led to several appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. He continued playing music with the J.J. Hyde Band from Dixon, TN up until the time of his illness. He leaves to cherish his memory, 1 son, Coleman Douglas Hutchings of Charlotte, TN; parents, Edward and Janie Barnes Hutchings of Smithville; 2 brothers, Donathan (Kelly) Hutchings of Decatur, AL and Jonathan (Tine) Hutchings of McMinnville; 2 sisters, Jamey’s twin, Darnell Hutchings of Smithville and Janet (Joey) Hutchings of Celina; 4 nephews, Keith Hutchings, Brandon (Jessie) Hutchings, Dustin Hutchings and Jonathan Hutchings; 2 nieces, Jamie (Mark) Trusty and Kelly (John) Licht; great-nieces and nephews, Reonin, Victoria and Abby Hutchings and Zaden Licht; special pet, Kyra; several special aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 11:AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. 70 year old Sharrion Kay Rhoten of Baxter passed away Wednesday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Republican Party. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Graden Kirksey will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Rhoten; parents, Harvey and Effie Ford Montgomery; three brothers, Kenneth and Glenn Montgomery and infant Cordial Montgomery and one sister, Marthena Allison. Survivors include two daughters, Amanda and Eric Parks of Murfreesboro and Lori Rhoten of North Carolina. One granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Parks of Murfreesboro. Three sisters, Oneida Waggoner of Smithville, Donna and Jerry Moore of Baxter and Minnie Sczech of Texas. Special niece Teresa Wright and John of Smithville. Teresa Lynn Anderson age 54 of Liberty, died Monday morning, March 25, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. Teresa is survived by her sons, Titus (Stacey) Anderson of Mississippi, Travis (Danyell) Anderson of Smithville and Trinity (Amelia) Anderson of Hickman; grandchildren, Katelyn, Mattie, Madison, Allie and Josie; parents, Joe Gordon Fitts and Lucille Hamlet Fitts of Smithville and a brother, Joe Gordon Fitts, Jr. of Smithville. She was preceded in death by a son, Thadeuss Brandon Anderson in 2001. Funeral services 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Gilder officiating.
