Jody Lorraine Clayton Jones

Jody Lorraine Clayton Jones, passed peacefully, at her home, on Saturday, August 15th, at the
age of 60. She was born in Massachusetts on May 18 1960, to George and Marjorie Clayton and in time, with her parents and siblings moved to Smithville, Tn. Jody met and married Danny Bond and with whom she bore two sons, Nicholas Luther Bond and Jacob Daniel Bond. Jody was an adventurous person that loved to view nature in its element, she loved the mountains of TN, especially Rock Island. She loved spending time with family and especially her grandchildren, watching them play at the playground while hearing about their school and life adventures. Jody believed in extending kindness to all life forms, especially animals. She held an extra-tender spot for all of God’s creatures, which she would openly take in lost animals that needed a home and would care for
them so lovingly. Jody was a devoted mother and adored her sons Nick and Jake Bond, and held fond memories of their childhood which she would often share funny stories with her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren . Jody was a fighter in all aspects of her life. She fought through a Stage 4 Esophageal cancer diagnosis, fell into remission, and knew in her heart that it had returned. She continued to fight until the day she took her last breath. Jody is survived by her two sons Nick and Jake Bond, with their respective wives Lizbette and Trista. In addition she leaves four grandchildren that motivated and kept her pushing to live on. Jody adored her grandchildren and loved receiving photos and hearing stories about their lives. In addition, Jody leaves behind two brothers and two sisters, with a host of nieces and nephews, and friends. Jody would like to be remembered for her spirit to live and her heart filled with happiness when surrounded by those she loved. She will always be in our hearts. We love you mom, grandma Jody, and now, our own personal angel. May you rest in peace always. The family has honored Jody’s request to be cremated and Celebration of life will be announced later.




Linda Kay Shehane Standridge

Linda Kay Shehane Standridge age 70 of Smithville, passed away Monday evening, August 17, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She was born November 18, 1949 to her parents, the late Hoyte Shehane and Letha Pedigo Peters. In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Shelton; great-grandson, Caylix Johnson; 2 sisters, Joyce Ann Smither, Ruth Shehane; brothers, Billy Manning, Daniel Peters, and John Shehane. She was a member of the house of Prayer and worked at Pioneer Furniture for 25 years and Federal Mogul for 12 years. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Standridge of Smithville; 3 children, Amanda Hamilton, Ginger Price and Richard Standridge all of Smithville; 9 grandchildren, Lacie Hamilton, Trey Hamilton, Alex Standridge, Star Standridge, Bella Standridge, Jake Standridge, Heather Standridge, Chrystyan Tate, Kynsley Hamilton; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Eloise Power and Peggy Minnear both of Smithville and Lorraine Shehane of Lebanon; 2 aunts, Jessie Bell Johnson and Frances Bates; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:AM Thursday, August 20, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel officiating and burial will follow in Minnear Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. Due to COVID-19 and the Governor’s Executive Orders 38 & 51, and Social Distancing Guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing and although not required, we recommend the use of facemask while in the funeral home to help avoid spreading the virus. The funeral home pews are marked off to allow 100-125 people for the service and stay with the guidelines. At this time the Funeral Home Lounge is closed and No Food or Drinks are allowed in the Funeral Home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Jo Grace Lowry

Jo Grace Lowry age 89, of Smithville, passed away Sunday August 16, 2020 at NHC of Smithville. She was born August 12, 1931 to her parents, the late Willie and Nora Ada Cantrell Webb. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by spouse, James Stewart; son-in-law, Danny Judkins; sisters, Frances Rigsby and Geneva Turner; brother, Felix Webb. Ms. Lowry was retired from Kingston Timers and a member of Mt. Hope The Baptist Church. She is survived by daughter, Bobbie Judkins (Melvin) Young of Smithville; son Brent Webb (Vicki) Jeffries of Smithville; father of her children, Robert Lee Jeffries; step- daughter, Janis Barnes ( Dave) Ritterbeck of Smithville; grandchildren, Kimberly (Joseph) McEniry, Danielle (Mark) Collins, Billy Webb (Lorrie) Jeffries, Brandon Jeffries, Mia (Nicholas) Ramsey; 3 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; special nieces, Peggy Cantrell and Patsy McGuire; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Tuesday August 18, 2020 at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bryan Jones officiating and burial to follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at 12:Noon until the time of the service at 2:00PM. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100 – 125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. Mickey Dan Page

August 17, 2020

66 year old Mickey Dan Page of Liberty passed away Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. He was disabled. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Sudie Page and Odessa Moser, and brother-in-law Joe Vickers. Survivors include a sister, Wanda Sue Vickers of Liberty. Nieces and nephews, Joe and Coty Vickers of Dowelltown, Vickey Sue and Stephen Barrett of Smithville, Crystal Page and Brandon Barnes of Belk, Morgan Marie and Coleman Oyster of Liberty, and Casey Elizabeth and Luke Griffin of Commerce. Great nieces and nephews, Ty Carson Vickers, Calla Page Vickers, Samuel Keith Griffin, and Sawyer Cordell Oyster. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. Along with flowers, the family has requested that any type of book may be donated to the DeKalb West School Library in his name.




Odie Harrison Tallent

August 17, 2020

Odie Harrison Tallent, age 68, a DeKalb County resident and Lake City, TN native was born February 25, 1952 and passed August 16, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a retired processing tech with Tenneco, a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville, TN, and the son of the late Odie Brown and Pearl Pauline Hawkins Tallent. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Peggy McCormick, Sheila Rogers, Faye (Sissy) Burton, Kathryn (Kat) Tallent, Brenda Tallent, and Sandy Luna.

Mr. Tallent was married to Patricia Ann Mathis Tallent of Smithville, TN. He is also survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Josh and Jennifer Tallent of Smithville, TN, and Jason Tallent of Dowelltown, TN; three step-children, Louis (Louie) Taft Hendrixson, III, Jill Marie Goneke, and Javon Ross Hendrixson all of Smithville, TN; four grandchildren, Nicholas Tallent, Nicholas Pendleton, Brantley Goneke, and Paris Grigsby; two sisters, Shirley Layman of McMinnville, TN and Karen Bogard of Kingsport, TN; brother, Randy Kirk Hutchings of McMinnville, TN; brother-in-law, Webb Luna of McMinnville, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 in Old Bybee Chapel Cemetery in Rock Island with Johnny Adcock officiating. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 Honor Guard. Family and friends to meet at cemetery. No visitation will be held at High’s.

Cleo McDonald

Mr. Cleo McDonald age 88 of Cookeville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, August 14, 2020 at Signature Health Care in Cookeville. He was born December 15, 1931 to his parents, the late Ezra and Myrah Belle Henry McDonald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Sylvia Diane McDonald; grandson, Josh Rice; 5 brothers, Troy, Hoy, Marchel, Ray and Dallas McDonald; mother of his children, Anna Ruth McDonald; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Ina Mai Hendrixson. Cleo was saved at the age of 72, and was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the 96th Field Artillery and was in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Cleo worked as a brick and block mason. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife, Paulette Hendrixson McDonald of Cookeville; 4 daughters, Shan (Jim) Ellis of Trenton, MI, Karen Olds of TN, Teresa Barrett of Grayton Beach, FL and GG (Paul) Davis of Athens, AL; 2 step-children, Jason Parsley of Panama City Beach, FL and Paula Yost of Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren, Cruz McDonald Ellis, Chris Rice, Kelly Olds, Dannielle Olds, Jessica Olds, Ericka Barrett, Jarred Barrett, Alec Yarbrough, Kaleb Goode, Abby Vinson and Hannah Goode; several great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Goolsby of Cookeville. Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville with Bro. Scott Parkison officiating, burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Monday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM at Stevens Street Baptist Church.
