Anna Marie Robinson

Mrs. Anna Marie Robinson, age 76, of Temperance Hall, TN, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020.

Mrs. Robinson was born September 28, 1944 in Buffalo Valley, TN, a daughter of the late Kenneth Scott Alcorn and Nettie Lois Williams Alcorn. She was also preceded in death by Brother; Bill Alcorn and Sisters; Frances Woods, Julana Martin, Cathy Parker, and Janie Bierbaum.

Mrs. Robinson graduated from Upperman High School in 1962. Marie married Larry Robinson on December 22, 1964. She worked at Quick & Easy and as the deli manager of the Carthage Bestway. Mrs. Robinson wrote the Temperance Hall News for the Smithville Review and ran the Temperance Hall Community Center for 20 years. She was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by Husband; Larry Robinson of Temperance Hall, TN. Children; Lynn Robinson and lifelong partner, Michelle Rich, of Temperance Hall, TN, and Tracy Robinson of New Johnsonville, TN. Grandchildren; Hunter Robinson of Dowelltown, TN, and Tara Greene of Gordonsville, TN. Sisters; Jackie Reins of Temperance Hall, TN, and Sharon Hendrixson of Baxter, TN. Father-in-Law; Curtis Woodard of Temperance Hall, TN. Special companions; Gage and Crickett.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Robinson are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1PM with Bro. Donnie Agee and Bro. Herb Leftwich officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.

Visitation with the Robinson Family will be at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday from 3PM until 8PM and on Monday after 11AM until service time at 1PM.

The family requests masks be worn and social distancing guidelines be observed if visiting the funeral home.




Jimmy Lee “Bo” Reynolds, Sr.

October 17, 2020

Jimmy Lee “Bo” Reynolds, Sr. age 66 of Liberty, passed away Sunday morning October 4, 2020 at his residence. He was born February 12, 1954 to his parents, the late W. Howard and Margie R. Gibbs Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Mae Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds worked in carpentry and a warehouse worker. He is survived by his wife, Becky Lou Reynolds of Liberty; son, Jimmy Lee Reynolds, Jr. of Liberty; 2 sisters, Becky Lou Jones of Woodbury and Geneva Jewel of Lebanon. Mr. Reynolds family chose a direct cremation and his cremains will be buried at Salem Cemetery in Liberty. No public services are planned. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Gladys Haggard

October 15, 2020

84 year old Gladys Haggard of Smithville passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at her residence.

She was a retired caregiver at NHC Smithville and was of the Baptist faith. Gladys was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jones; her husband, William ‘Bud’ Haggard; a son, Paul Haggard; and sisters, Alice Harville, Chaddies Jones, and Millie Gambell.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Saturday 9:30 am until 8:00 pm, and Sunday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Brother Tommy Davis will officiate and burial will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Gladys is survived by her son, Danny Haggard of Smithville; granddaughter/daughter, Danielle Haggard of Smithville; and grandchildren, Marcaus Scoville and Tierra Scoville of Crossville.

In addition to flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Ms. Gladys.

James Wilson Young

October 15, 2020

82 year old James Wilson Young of Smithville, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at NHC of Smithville.

He was a retired maintenance worker from the Kingston Timer Plant. James was a member of the Mt. View The Baptist Church.

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home . Brother Dennis Wood will officiate with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Lillie Mai Taylor Young; First Wife and Mother of his Children, Marie Haggard Young; Sister, Helen Lee; and Brother, Eddie Wayne Young. He is survived by one son, James Ronny (Nancy) Young of Smithville; one daughter, Kim (Ratchet) Banks of Smithville; grandchildren, Aaron (Sara) Young of Smithville, Kara (Robert) Griffin of Pensacola, FL, Alyssa (Daniel) Leslie of Smithville; special grandson, Morgan Smithson of Smithville; great grandchildren, Luke Young and Lela Young of Smithville; sisters, Carolyn (Eli) Whitley of Mt. Juliet, TN, Judy Rodgers of Hendersonville, TN; brothers-in-law, Rick Lee of Smithville and Bobby (Emma) Haggard of Lebanon, TN; and sister-in-law, Frances Haggard of Nashville, TN.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Young Bend Cemetery Fund.

Marilyn Jean Leck

October 15, 2020

Marilyn Jean Leck age 74 of Smithville, passed away Saturday October 10, 2020 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. She was born June 17, 1946 to her parents, the late Herbert and Ina Langtimm. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Eric Gibbs of Smithville; 1 brother, Michael Langtimm of Smithville; 3 sisters, Laura Mull of Iowa, Sharon Langtimm of Missouri and Lorainne Langtimm of Kansas. Her family has chosen a direct cremation. A Memorial Service will be 11:AM Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church 1100 Midway Road in Smithville with Bro. Al Mahan officiating. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Mike Johnson

October 15, 2020

Mr. Mike Johnson, age 69 of Lebanon, TN and formerly of Smithville, TN passed away early Wednesday morning, October 14, 2020 at his home in Lebanon, TN.

Mike was born on March 9, 1951 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Virgil & Frances Ferrell Johnson Lockhart. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Gary “Gus” Johnson. Mike was a 59 year member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and served as a deacon for over 38 years. He was a Sunday School Teacher & also served on the church building committee. Mike was a Past Master of the DeKalb Masonic Lodge #358, a member of the Scottish Rite & Al Menah Shriners. Mike furthered served his community for 20 years as a DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Midway Fire Station, Engine 63 and had retired at the rank of Fire Chief. He was a former member of the DeKalb County Rescue Squad & the DeKalb County Board of Education. He was also retired from Kingston Timers.

Funeral Services for Mr. Mike Johnson will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2pm at Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. Bro. Bill Robertson will officiate with burial to follow at Mt. Holly Cemetery with Fireman’s Honors provided by the DeKalb County Fire Dept. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 16th from 2-7pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7pm. Visitation on Saturday, October 17th will be at Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church from 11am until the service time at 2pm. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.

Survivors include his Wife, Jeana Curtis Johnson of Lebanon, TN. 2 Sons, Nathan (Danna) Johnson of Lebanon, TN & Ben (Kim) Johnson of Hartsville, TN. 2 Grandsons, Michael Johnson & Alex Johnson both of Lebanon, TN. Brother, Larry Johnson of Louisville, KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Permboil Foundation of Lebanon, TN or the Shriners Children’s Hospital of Lexington, KY in memory of Mike.
