Daniel Seber to seek Register of Deeds Office

Longtime DeKalb County resident, Daniel Seber, announced today that he will be seeking the office of DeKalb County Register of Deeds in 2022. Longtime Register of Deeds Jeff McMillen recently announced his intention to retire at the conclusion of his current term. Seber will seek the Republican nomination, and if successful, will be on the DeKalb County General Election ballot in August 2022.

“I thank Jeff for his service to DeKalb County over the past 36 years,” Seber said. “I have a lot of respect for him and the office in which he serves. When I heard about the retirement, I began to prayerfully consider running for Register of Deeds. After much thought and prayer with my family and friends, I will be a Republican Candidate for Register of Deeds in DeKalb County in 2022.”

“Service has always been a core value in my life. Whether it is serving through church, school, or service organizations, I want to be a part of making our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. I am a Conservative, and a Christian, and I look forward to this opportunity to listen to the citizens of DeKalb County and share my vision for the Register of Deeds Office.”

Daniel Seber is a longtime DeKalb County resident and Special Education Teacher/ Work-Based Learning Coordinator at DeKalb County High School. He is married to Amy Crawford Seber and has one daughter, Elizabeth, a senior at DCHS. Daniel grew up in and around Liberty and Alexandria and is the son of longtime local minister Bro. Thurman and Laura Seber and was the youngest of four brothers and sisters, the late Dr. David Seber, Peggy Seber Leach, and Sandy (and Randy) Morris, and has been a resident of Smithville for the last 25 years. A Christian with Conservative values, Daniel and his family are active members of Mount Hope The Baptist Church.

The walking trail at Greenbrook Park will get some needed attention within a few days.

The City of Smithville has hired a contractor to repave a few bad spots and to do some resealing.

“The overall pavement of the walking trail is in pretty good shape. We just have four or five bad spots that need to be dug up and repaved. The contractor will come in and do that work. He will also reseal all the walking trail pavement and the cracks. The work will probably begin within the next couple of weeks. We’re just trying to make the public aware so that while the work is going on they can walk around the roped off construction area. We might even have to close the park for a couple of days for the work. We don’t know yet,” said City Public Works Director Kevin Robinson.
