Tigerettes Sweep Central Magnet

The DCHS Tigerettes swept both games of a double header at Central Magnet in Murfreesboro Monday winning 1 to 0 and 6 to 1.

In the first game, DeKalb County scored 1 run in the 1st inning on 6 hits and made no errors. Central Magnet was held scoreless on 3 hits and made 2 errors.

Joni Robinson had 2 singles while Megan Walker, Kenzie France, Braya Murphy, and Emme Colwell each had a single.

Emme Colwell was the winning pitcher.

In the second game the Tigerettes won 6 to 1

DeKalb County scored 6 runs on 9 hits and made 1 error. Central Magnet scored 1 run on 5 hits and made 2 errors.

The Tigerettes scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 2 runs in the 4th inning. Central Magnet scored 1 run in the 3rd inning.

Kenzie France had a homerun. Kristena Bain tripled. Allison Maynard had 2 doubles. Joni Robinson and Maddison Parsley each with a single. Braya Murphy had 2 singles and Megan Walker singled.

Madison Whitehead was the winning pitcher.




Saints Soccer Team Sports 6-3 Record

The Saints Soccer season is underway and currently have an overall record of 6-3 including the pre-season. The Saints currently have a 2-2 record in conference play.

The Saints traveled to Cumberland Co. on March 13th and earned their first conference win of the season with a result of 2-0. Two goals from Johnny Hernandez and Mario Mathias was all that was needed for Goalkeeper Diego Coronado and his defense as they held Cumberland United scoreless.

On March 15th, Smith Co. came to town and stunned the Saints scoring a last-second goal to beat the home team 2-1. The offense lead by a goal from Mario Mathias proved not to be enough this time.

The very next day the Saints traveled to Macon Co. on March 16th. The defense, Ashton Campbell, Robert Wheeler, and Kevin Aguirre, helped hold the home team to zero goals in this contest. One goal from Johnny Hernandez was all the Saints needed as DMS wins this one 1-0.

The Saints failed to start a winning streak as they traveled to Cookeville to face Avery Trace on March 22nd. The Saints gave all the Raiders could handle, but lose this one at a final score of 1-0.

The Saints travel to Manchester this weekend to participate in the Red Raider Tournament.

The next two home games for the Saints are next Thursday and Friday! Both games start at 6 pm. The Saints play Algood on Thursday and Warren Co. on Friday.

Upcoming events for the Saints include a “Karen Jacobs night” on April 17th at 6 pm to honor one of the Saints biggest fans! 8th Grade night will be April 26 with ceremonies beginning at 5:30 pm and kick-off at 6:00 pm.




Tigerettes Fall to Cumberland County 4-3

The DCHS Tigerettes lost 4 to 3 to Cumberland County on Friday.

Cumberland County scored 4 runs on 3 hits and made 1 error. DeKalb County scored 3 runs on 8 hits and made 1 error.

The Cumberland County scored 1 run in the 1st inning, 1 run in the 3rd, and 2 runs in the 4th inning.

The Tigerettes scored 1 run in the 1st inning and 2 runs in the 3rd inning.

Kenzie France was the losing pitcher.

Maddison Parsley had a double. Megan Walker had 2 doubles and a single. Braya Murphy had 2 singles and Emme Colwell and Allison Maynard singled.




The Battle for Silver Point

The DeKalb County Tigers soccer team played the Upperman Bees Tuesday night. The Tigers got off to a quick start again with center forward Cristobal Flores scoring an unassisted goal in the 4th minute of the game. Maintaining most of the possession, the Tigers were able to create several good chances on Goalkeeper Chandler Street of Upperman who finished the game with 12 saves. In the 15th minute, one of those chances paid off with an unassisted goal by right wing Luke Bryant who found a ball bouncing around in the box and placed it into the corner of the net. Trying to capitalize on the counter attack, the Bees continued to test the Tigers defensive back line with long through-balls until one got through to Bees forward Landon Walters. Tigers center back Cesar Coronilla raced down the field to catch the Bees forward, but committed a foul resulting in a penalty kick in the 28th minute. The PK was taken and made by Bees forward Teyo Rodriguez. This wrapped up the scoring in the first half with the Tigers leading the Bees 2-1.

In the second half, the Tigers were awarded a free kick and Cristobal made a driving shot on goal. Diving to make the save, the Bees goalkeeper spilled a rebound when attacking midfielder Alan Munoz came crashing into the box and finished the play bringing the score to 3-1 in the 55th minute. Then, in the 64th minute, Cristobal Flores earned a penalty kick when fouled on a break-away chance on goal. Just three minutes later, Tigers goalkeeper Wesley Carpenter delivered his first assist of the season on a long punt that bounced over the Bees goalkeeper. Cristobal came streaking in behind and scored his third goal of the night. This wrapped up the scoring for the match with the Tigers getting the 5-1 victory.




Tigerettes Win in Double Header at York Institute

The DeKalb County Tigerettes took both games of a doubleheader against York Institute Thursday winning 16 to 0 in the first game and 15 to 0 in the nightcap at Jamestown.

In the first game, DeKalb County scored 16 runs on 13 hits and made no errors. York Institute was held scoreless on 2 hits and made 5 errors.The Tigerettes scored 14 runs in the 1st inning and 2 runs in the 2nd inning.

Madison Whitehead was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts.

Maddison Parley, Allison Maynard, and Kristena Bain each had a triple. Joni Robinson, Kenzie France, Emme Colwell, Allison Maynard, Kelly Roberts, and Braya Murphy doubled. Joni Robinson and Braya Murphy singled and Megan Walker had 2 singles.

In the second game, DeKalb County won 15 to 0.

The Tigerettes scored 15 runs on 16 hits and made no errors. York Institute was held scoreless on 2 hits and made 3 errors.

DeKalb County scored 1 run in the 1st and 3rd innings and 13 runs in the 2nd inning.

Hailey Redmon was the winning pitcher.

Allison Maynard had a homerun and a single. Kelly Roberts, Braya Murphy, and Maddison Parsley tripled. Kenzie France had a double and single. Joni Robinson with 2 doubles and a single. Megan Walker, Emme Colwell and Kelly Roberts singled and Kristena Bain had 3 singles.
