Tigerettes Lose 10-4 to Livingston Academy

The DCHS Tigerettes got behind early and couldn’t catch up losing 10-4 at Livingston Academy on Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats scored 10 runs on 14 hits and made no errors. The Tigerettes scored 4 runs on 11 hits and made 2 errors.

LA scored 4 runs in the 1st inning, 1 in the 2nd, 2 runs in the 4th, and 3 runs in the 6th inning. The Tigerettes scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning, 1 run in the 3rd, and 1 run in the 7th inning.

Leah Kate Clark was the winning pitcher for Livingston Academy. She surrendered 4 runs on 11 hits over 7 innings, striking out 3 and walking 4.

Kenzie France took the loss for the Tigerettes. She allowed 11 hits and 7 runs over 3 and two-thirds innings, striking out 4 and walking 2. . Emme Colwell came in for 1 inning and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and struck out 1. Madison Whitehead pitched an inning and a third. She struck out 1 and walked 1.

Joni Robinson, Braya Murphy, and Kennedy Polk each had 2 hits while Jacey Hatfield, Kenzie France, Emme Colwell, Maddison Parsley, and Ellie Cripps each had a hit.

Livingston Academy belted 2 home runs on the day. Summer Spears went for the long ball in the 4th inning. Abi Ledbetter went deep in the 6th inning.




DCHS Tennis Teams Win at Livingston Academy

The DCHS Tennis teams went to Livingston Academy Tuesday, March 19 and brought home a pair of wins over the Wildcats. Winners for the girls singles were Hannah McBride (9-7), Shelby Clayborn (8-3), and Katie Colwell (8-1) while Faith Judkins, Ashlee Thompson and Leah Davis lost their matches. In Doubles, Judkins and McBride teamed up for the win (8-3) as did Thompson and Clayborn (8-6) which gave the Lady Tigers a 5 to 3 victory for the match.

For the Tigers, Lance Davis (8-5), Garrett Hayes (8-4), Dosson Medlin (8-4), and Levi Driver (8-6) were all winners in their singles matches while Eli Cantrell and Gabe Angeles lost their matches. In doubles, Hayes and Driver teamed up for a 9-7 victory while Davis and Cantrell were upset in their match. The team of Angeles and Justin Washer were also ahead in their match, but the match had to be called because of darkness. Regardless, this gave the Tigers a 5 -3 victory over the rival Wildcats.

Both teams are scheduled to travel to Rhea County on Thursday, March 21. On Friday, the teams will host Watertown at 3:30. Home matches are played at the Smithville City courts across from the Smithville Golf Course and Swimming Pool.




Lions Beat Tigers at Woodbury 5-4

The DeKalb County Tigers lost the lead late and were beaten by the Cannon County Lions 5-4 on Monday at Woodbury. The game was tied with Cannon County batting in the bottom of the 6th when an error scored what proved to be the winning run for Cannon County.

DC Scored 4 runs on 7 hits and made 4 errors. Cannon County scored 5 runs on 4 hits with 1 error.

All 4 Tiger runs came in the 2nd inning. The Lions also scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning and 1 run in the 6th.

Colter Norris led things off on the mound for the Tigers and went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and 4 runs while striking out 5 and walking 3. Grayson Redmon threw 2 innings in relief out of the bullpen and surrendered 1 run. He struck out 3 and walked 1.

Derek Young had 2 hits while Grayson Redmon, Colter Norris, Skylar Sparks, Logan Cornelious, and Daniel Puckett each had 1 hit.




Tigerettes Beat Central Magnet 11-1

The DCHS Tigerettes easily dispatched Central Magnet 11-1 on Monday

DC scored 11 runs on 14 hits and made 1 error. Central Magnet scored 1 run on 6 hits and made no errors.

The Tigerettes scored 5 runs in the 1st inning, 1 run in the 2nd, 1 run in the 3rd, 3 runs in the 4th, and 1 run in the 6th inning. Central Magnet scored 1 in the 2nd inning.

Madison Whitehead, the winning pitcher, hurled a 1 hit shutout over 2 innings. She struck out 3 and walked 1.

Emme Colwell started the game for DeKalb County and allowed 5 hits and 1 run over 4 innings, striking out 4.

Faith McCaghren took the loss for Central Magnet. She went 5 innings, allowing 11 runs on 14 hits, striking out 1 and walking 1.

Kenzie France had a homer in the 4th inning while Megan Walker went yard in the 6th inning.

Jacey Hatfield and Megan Walker each had 3 hits in the game. Kenzie France, Maddison Parsley, and Ellie Cripps each had 2 hits while Emme Colwell and Braya Murphy each had 1 hit.




After Beating Owls, DWS Bulldogs Get Shutout by Upperman and Cannon County Last Week

Cannon County shutout the DeKalb West Bulldogs 2 to 0 Friday

Briz Trapp started the game for the Bulldogs and recorded 8 outs. Trapp pitched a 2 hit shutout through two and two-thirds innings and struck out 3. He walked 2.  Jordan Parker threw two and a third innings in relief and gave up 2 runs on 1 hit. He struck out 3 and walked 5.

A single by Konner Young in the fourth inning was the only hit for the Bulldogs.

Cannon County scored 2 runs on 3 hits and made 2 errors. DeKalb West was held scoreless on 1 hit and made 1 error. Cannon County scored both runs in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Upperman knocked off the Bulldogs 13-0

Upperman scored 13 runs on 8 hits and made no errors. The Bulldogs were held scoreless on 4 hits and made 1 error.

Upperman scored 6 runs in the 1st inning, 6 runs in the 4th, and 1 run in the 5th inning.

Brayden Carter started the game for DeKalb West. He surrendered 6 runs on 5 hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out 3. Westin Wright and Cam Caballero entered the game in relief, throwing one inning and one-third of an inning respectively.  Caballero gave up  6 runs on 2 hits. He walked 3. Wright gave up 1 run on 1 hit. He struck out 1 and walked 1.

Gabe Hollingsworth had 2 hits while Drew Vickers and Cam Caballero each had a hit for the Bulldogs.

Last Monday, the Bulldogs won in dramatic fashion with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Smith County.

The Bulldogs scored 7 runs on 8 hits and made 1 error. Smith County scored 6 runs on 8 hits and made 1 error.

DeKalb West scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning and added 1 in both the 4th and 5th innings. The Owls scored 1 run in the 4th and 5 runs in the 5th inning.

Brayden Carter took the win for the Bulldogs. He pitched a 1 hit shutout over two-thirds of an inning, striking out 2. Gabe Hollingsworth and Cam Caballero entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Hollingsworth gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, struck out 2 and walked 1 through 1 inning. Caballero surrendered 2 runs on 1 hit and walked 1.

Konner Young started the game for the Bulldogs. He pitched a 2 hit shutout through 3 innings, striking out 3 and walking 1

Gabe Hollingsworth had 2 hits for the Bulldogs while Drew Vickers, Konner Young, Cam Caballero, Ty Webb, Ean Jones, and Hunter Cantrell each had a hit.
