Earnest Walker Moore

Mr. Earnest Walker Moore, age 83 of Dowelltown, TN passed away Friday morning, February 25, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Moore was born on June 10, 1938 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Thomas Walker & Lillie Mae Waggoner Moore. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, David Moore & Tom Moore. Sister, Reba Page & an infant sister, Ruby Moore. He was a Brickmason for over 60 years & a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Mark Gaw & Bro. Andy Rogers will officiate with burial to follow at Adcock Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday from 4-7pm & again on Monday from 12pm until the time of services at 2pm

Survivors include his Daughter, Melody (Andy) Rogers of Smithville, TN. Granddaughter, Heather Owens of Florida. Sisters, Nina Hart & Stacy Foster both of Smithville, TN. Brothers, Royce (Ruby) Moore of Smithville, TN & Jerry (Donna) Moore of Baxter, TN. Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces & Nephews also survive.

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the New West Point Freewill Baptist Church or to the Lighthouse Christian Camp in memory of Mr. Moore.




Stephen Thomas Warrick

February 23, 2022

Stephen Thomas Warrick age 55 of Murfreesboro, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lester Warrick and infant brother, Jeffery Warrick. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by 1 daughter, Miranda Paul of Murfreesboro; 2 sons, Jeffery Lester Warrick and Charles Brandon Warrick both of Murfreesboro; mother, Judy Handley of Murfreesboro; 2 sisters, Tammy Warrick and Belinda Feagan both of Murfreesboro; 1 brother, Bo (Karla) Warrick of Sparta; stepmother, Mary Alice Sanders of Shelbyville; 2 grandchildren and 4 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, February 28, 2022, at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Murfreesboro with Bro. Jack Tidrick officiating and burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




William Robert Mabe

Mr. William Robert Mabe, age 92, of Alexandria, TN, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022.

Mr. Mabe was born May 31, 1929 in Sparta, TN, a son of the late Ina Mai Fitts Mabe and Bracket Mabe. He married Shirley Schaub on August 8, 1953 and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister and by Brothers; Dave Mabe and Johnny Franklin Mabe.

Mr. Mabe was a member of the Lower Helton The Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army for four years and in the U.S. National Guard for 25 years, having served in Korea and Germany. He worked several years for TRW.

Mr. Mabe is survived by Son; Wayne (Edie) Mabe of Livingston, TN, Daughters; Barbara Lester of Alexandria, TN, Anita (Larry) Thomas of Auburntown, TN, and Melissa (Kenny) Adcock of Smithville, TN. Grandchildren; Jessica Atkins, Rebecca (Adam) Factor, Jeremy Thomas, Joshua (Colleen) Lester, Cameron (Whitney) Lester, Candace (Paul) Hatch, Casey Reagan, Christy Nivens, and Kendra (Craig) Smithson. Fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Brother; James (Linda) Mabe of Smithville, TN.

Funeral Services for Mr. Mabe are scheduled to be conducted at the Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria, TN, on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 1PM with Bro. Barry Whitaker and Larry Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be at the Avant Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4PM until 8PM and on Thursday from 11AM until service time at 1PM.




Marilyn Patton Willoughby

February 20, 2022

Marilyn Patton Willoughby age 69 of Alexandria, TN passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 18th after a 9-year struggle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Willoughby was born on July 13, 1952 in Watertown, TN to her parents, the late Virginia and Charles Patton. In addition to being the most loving wife and mother; spending 33 years teaching children at Watertown Elementary; and serving as a dedicated member of Alexandria First Baptist Church, Marilyn was an exceptional, wildly talented, compassionate, hilarious, bold, creative, and outright wonderful woman who made everyone around her feel special and loved. She taught us to hold hope high, to love Jesus, to sing whenever possible, and to be kind to one another. Her piano melodies and joyous laughter will be dearly missed, but we have comfort in the knowledge that after years of suffering, she is once again her true self – absent from the body and present with the Lord. Survivors include her loving, devoted husband: Mark Brady Willoughby; 3 Children: Amanda Corley, Brittany (Andrew) Dixon, Luke (Amanda Falk) Willoughby; 1 grandson: David Andrew Dixon II; 3 Siblings: Perry (Dot) Patton, Sharon (Raymond McCord) Patton, Celeste (John) Whaley. Sister-in-law Pat (JC) Allen. Nieces and Nephews: Rachel (Louis Becker) Patton McCord, Andrew (Rebecca) Whaley, Terrie Patton, Holly (Lucus) Bain and a number of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Patton. Visitation will be Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Monday at First Baptist Church Alexandria from 11:00 am until the funeral at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Masks are required at both the visitation and funeral services. The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to Rosea Young and Avalon Hospice of Lebanon nurses Erin Wright, Kassie Strain, Wynde White, and especially Lena Wright who have helped care for Mrs. Willoughby during her last years.




Boyd E. Atnip

February 18, 2022

Boyd E. Atnip age 94 of Smithville, TN went home to be with Jesus on Friday, February 18, 2022.

Boyd was born on September 17, 1927 to the late Lonnie and Eliza Atnip. Boyd worked hard his whole life, loved his family, and loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of the Church of God for many years and then a faithful member of the Assembly of God.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Eliza Atnip. Brother, T.C. (Virginia) Atnip. Sister, Mary Ann Yarmin. Daughter in law, Lori Atnip. Great grandson, Elias Atnip.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Emogene Atnip. Son, Dennis Atnip. Grandsons Eric & Elizabeth Atnip, and Jordan & Morgan Atnip. Great grandchildren Savory & Neveah Brown, Wyatt Atnip, and Jude Atnip. Nieces and nephews Maxine Pritchett, Phillip Atnip, Wanda Parker, Debbie Driver, and Robin Goodbread.

Funeral service will be Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with his grandson, Jordan Atnip officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, February 19, from 3-6 Pm and Sunday from 11 am until the time of service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Carl Eugene Judkins

Carl Eugene Judkins age 81 of the Shop Springs community died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022 at his residence. Born Dec. 12, 1940 at Lancaster, he was the son of the late Odus and Allie Mae Bennett Judkins and was preceded in death by a niece, Kim Hall Hunter; sister-in-law, Dot Ferrell Judkins and brother-in-law, A.C. Johnson. Carl was a graduate of Liberty High School and attended Ramah Baptist Church, he retired from the Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, IN. He was a US Army veteran and an avid coon hunter. Carl is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Smithville; brothers, Odell (Betty) Judkins of Watertown and Shirley Judkins of Shop Springs; nieces and nephews, Teresa (Clark) Sampson, Jennifer Pruitt, Mark (Anita) Judkins, Kristina (Kevin) Haggard; great nieces and nephews, Jenny (Brian Hocker) Hall, Lauren Harris, Sarah Grace Harris, Allie Hunter, Leslie Pruitt, Layne Haggard, Karoline Haggard; special caregiver, Angela McCarter. Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Tramel officiating. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday. Pallbearers, Mark Judkins, Clark Sampson, Tommy Jackson, Kevin Haggard, Layne Haggard, Eddie Harris, John Johnson, Keith Judkins. Interment at Wilson Co. Memorial Park.
