Alton Brown Colwell

Alton Brown Colwell age 73 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning July 29,2019 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1945 to his parents, the late Dallas and Myrtle Colwell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Honest and Jewel Bain and Grand-Parents Howard and Mary Ellen Ursery. He was the former pastor of The House of Prayer Church and worked at Smithport Cabinet. Alton is survived by his wife, Christine Colwell of Smithville; children, Vickey Colwell, Brenda (Kenny) Poore, and Christie Waycaster all of Smithville; special family friend, Valerie Tatrow Slager; grandchildren, Adam and Jordan Arnold, Dillon Colwell, Jarad Henry, Casey and Kyle Centers, Erica and Joel Kersjes, Tyler Ackerson, Randy, Katie, Lily and Kayla Waycaster, and Austin Rackley; great-grandchildren, Adin and Shaylin Centers, Ethan and Brooklyn Kersjes, Alana and Dallas Skimerhorn, and Audrey Ackerson; brothers, Albert (Mary) Colwell of Smithville, Delbert (Elizabeth) Colwell of Smithville, Roy (Debbie) Colwell of Murfreesboro; sisters, Charlie May Daniel, Mary (Ronnie) Bates, Frances (Eddie) McGuire, Barbara (Keith) Huling, and Tina Colwell all of Smithville and Teresa (Jerry) Pack of Livingston. Funeral services will be 2:PM Wednesday July 31, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros, John Wilson and Phillip Luna officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 10:AM until 9:PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Huddie Clementine “Tina” Knight

Huddie Clementine “Tina” Knight age 80 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning, July 26, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. She was born October 25, 1938 to her parents, the late J.C. and Evelyn Evans Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kinght, Sr.; son, Edward Knight, Jr.; grandson, James Dalton Knight; sister, Ann Dietz and 2 brothers, James and Thomas Hale. Ms. Knight was a beautician and a Lutheran. Tina had a love for all animals. She is survived by 2 daughters, Angela (Timothy) Banks of Smithville and Jennifer (Greg) Srabian of Boca Raton, FL; 8 grandchildren; Jason Sturdivant, Anthony (Amanda) Hasemann, Autumn Banks, Mica Knight, Sabastian Knight, Richard, Mary and John Srabian; 4 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Elisabeth, Revin and Coraline Sturdivant; 1 brother, James “Sonny” Norris of Thiboaux, LA and 1 sister, Juanits “Cookie” Celaya of Golden Valley, AZ. The family has honored Ms. Tina’s request to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Sunday, August 4, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 10 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Animal Coalition, in memory of Ms. Tina. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




William D. Lannom

July 26, 2019

William D. Lannom, age 90 passed away on July 25, 2019 in Nashville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Doris Lannom.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Dennis) Stanley of Smithville, two grandchildren, Christie (Chris) Ferrell and Cissie Self, a step-grandson, Daniel Stanley, and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Ferrell and Jacob Self.

Graveside service will be on Monday, July 29, 2019 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from four until eight o’clock at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home.




Tony Lynn Bailey

52 year old Tony Lynn Bailey passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at his residence in Alexandria. Tony was born August 2, 1966 in Lebanon Tn., worked at Smithport Cabinet, and was a member of Sink Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife of 34 years Connie Bailey of Alexandria. Daughter Leslie Brooke Bailey and her fiancé James Ellis Jr. of Alexandria. Granddaughter Kayleigh Cheyanne Goodman of Alexandria. Parents Jerry and Mary Bailey of Alexandria. Sister Melinda Tallent of Smithville. Niece Sabra (Jeremy) Murphy, Nephews Chris (Brandi) Cantrell and Jordan Judkins. Great Nieces and Nephews Braya, and Briahanna Murphy and Kaleb and Dillon Cantrell. Father and Mother In Law Joel and Fran Adcock, Sister In Law Sherry and Joe Judkins and Cousin Blake Goad. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 26 2019 at 2pm at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8pm, Thursday 2-8pm, and Friday 10am till service time at 2pm. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.




David Anthony Taylor

45 year old David Anthony Taylor of Smithville passed away Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Church of God. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Charles Stanton will officiate and burial will be in the Byford Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. He was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Ferrell, sister-in-law, Angel Ferrell, brother-in-law, Tom Mosley, and a nephew, Billy Ferrell. Survivors include his parents, Roy and Louise Taylor of Smithville. Brothers, Glen and Louise Ferrell of Smithville and Ben Taylor of Warren County. Sister, Joyce Mosley of Spencer. Special friend, EllaDean Green, Greg Byford, and Shane Byford all of Woodbury. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.




Jerry Jerome Pack

July 21, 2019

73-year-old Jerry Jerome Pack of Smithville passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019. Jerry was retired and a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Visitation with the Pack family will be on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, July 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Love-Cantrell Chapel. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis W. and Willia Bea Tramel Pack. Survivors include three sisters, Jannace Alton and Sharon Pack of Smithville, and Marcia and Lynn Peterson of Gallatin; one brother, Mark Pack of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
