A DCHS Project Graduation Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show Set for April 3

A car, truck, and motorcycle show will be held to benefit the DCHS Class of 2021 Project Graduation event on Saturday, April 3 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at DeKalb County High School.

All funds raised will go to Project Graduation, an all night drug-free, alcohol-free graduation party for members of the DCHS Class of 2021 committed to having a safe, wholesome, yet entertaining celebration together for the last time as a class. This year’s event will be held at the County Complex.

The show will feature top 25 People’s Choice Awards, Best of Show, the DCHS Class of 2021 Seniors Pick, and Most Unique Pick. There will be more than 40 vendors and plenty of food, face painting, plus much more including a DJ. Vendors must sign up by March 29.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with judging at noon and awards to be presented at 3 p.m.

Alexandria Man Involved in Dowelltown Crash

An Alexandria man lost control of his truck and crashed in Dowelltown Wednesday afternoon but he wasn’t injured.

Trooper Bobby Johnson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said 19 year old Justus Tramel was east on East Main Street in Dowelltown in a 1999 Ford F-150 when he lost control and went off the right side of the road. The truck hit a natural gas line, utility pole, and tree.

He was cited for failure to exercise due care.

Along with Trooper Johnson, others on the scene were DeKalb EMS, Sheriff’s Department, and the Liberty Station of the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department.




DeKalb Tigerettes Shutout York Institute (Game Today Vs Watertown) Cancelled)

Ellie Cripps didn’t allow a single run as the DeKalb County Tigerettes defeated York Institute 17-0 on Tuesday. Cripps gave up just two hits.

Jacey Hatfield collected four hits in five at bats to help lead the Tigerettes to victory. Hatfield tripled in the second, singled in the third, tripled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.

In the first inning, the Tigerettes got their offense started as Emma Martin doubled to drive in three runs.

DeKalb County tallied four runs in the fourth inning led by a triple from Hatfield and a double by Emma Johnson.

Cripps was credited with the victory for the Tigerettes. The righthander went five innings, allowing a two hit shutout while striking out five and walking one.

The Tigerettes scattered 18 hits in the game. Hatfield, Johnson, Morgan Walker, Aly Griffith, and Martin each racked up multiple hits. Hatfield got four hits in five at bats. The Tigerettes didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kennedy Polk had the most chances in the field with five.

The Tigerettes were scheduled to host Watertown today (Thursday) but the game has been cancelled.
