2019 DCHS Tiger Football Schedule Released

The 2019 DCHS Tiger Football schedule has been released

The season kicks off on Friday, August 23 at Warren County followed by another road game at Upperman on August 30. The home opener will be September 6 against Stone Memorial.

All games start at 7:00 p.m. All opponents are the same as last year but the home and away games are reversed this year

WJLE will have LIVE coverage each week.

The DCHS 2019 Football Schedule is as follows:

Edgar Evins State Park will host the 13th Annual Celebration of Spring and Easter Egg Hunt Saturday April 13th with activities and vendors from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Peninsula.

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. with Ranger-Led Wildflower Hikes and continues with music and entertainment throughout the day.  Don’t miss the wildlife demonstrations, Cannon Arts Dance Studio performance, pontoon boat rides, face painters, and craft vendors. Make plans to visit the food vendors and enjoy a picnic on the grounds. Be sure to stop by the office and climb the tower that overlooks the park and lake. The Grand finale will be the Easter Egg Hunt at 2:00 p.m.

Ranger Led Wildflower Hikes, (9a.m. & 1p.m.) Highland Rim Nature Trail, next to office

Entertainment –  On or near the Peninsula stage

• 10:00 – 10:30 – Birds of Prey presented by a Park Ranger
• 10:30 – 11:15 – Cannon Arts Dance Studio, ballet & Maypole, then all ages, everyone, join in on the Bunny Hop!
• 11:30 – 12:30 – Bob Tarter’s Animals from NHECM
• 12:30 P.M. – 1:45 P.M. – Music
• 2:00 P.M. – Easter Egg Hunt

Pontoon Boats Rides – as scheduled from 12 Noon to 4 P.M.,  a 45-60 minutes boat ride.  Courtesy Boat Dock, next to the Peninsula

• REQUIRES ADVANCE SIGN-UP AT BOAT REGISTRATION TABLE WITH $5 CASH PER PERSON PAYMENT and A TIME STICKER ON THE BRACELET, The time on the sticker is the time the BOAT leaves the dock.
• If you decide to not go on the boat ride please let the registration person know ASAP so others may ride. No refunds will be given with less than a one hour notice.
• Children must be over age 3 years old and accompanied by an adult.

Several people arrested in undercover drug investigations by the sheriff’s department last year were sentenced Monday in criminal court.

Judge Gary McKenzie presided.

41 year old Jessica Renee Owen entered a plea to sale of a schedule II drug (Oxycodone) and received a 5 year sentence on TDOC probation. She must pay a $2,000 fine and make restitution of $160 to the sheriff’s department.

22 year old Jacob Fisher Murphy entered a plea to sale of over 0.5 grams of methamphetamine and received an 8 year sentence on TDOC probation except for 180 days in the county jail. He was fined $2,000 and must make $200 restitution to the sheriff’s department. Murphy was given 20 days jail credit. The term is to run concurrently with his probation in another felony case.

19 year old Robert Stephen Derrick entered a plea to two counts of casual exchange and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days in each case to run consecutively but he will be on probation subject to judicial diversion. He must make $620 restitution to the sheriff’s department.

42 year old Dana Michelle Taylor entered a plea to sale of a schedule III drug (buprenorphine) and received a 4 year sentence on TDOC probation. She was fined $2,000 and must make $325 restitution to the sheriff’s department.

38 year old Jayme Denise Hendrixson entered a plea to sale of a schedule II drug (methamphetamine over 0.5 grams) and received 8 years on TDOC probation after serving 180 days in the county jail. She was fined $2,000. The term is to run concurrently with another case against her. She was given jail credit of 69 days.
