Billy Adcock Recognized for 28 Years of Service on DeKalb 911 Board

A longtime member of the DeKalb County 911 Emergency Communications District Board of Directors has been recognized for his 28 years of service.

Billy Adcock, who officially retired on October 31, was presented a plaque Thursday night, December 7 by Director Brad Mullinax.

“Mr. Adcock has served the DeKalb 911 ECD for a remarkable 28 years but he has decided to retire and pass the torch to someone new,” said Mullinax.

“DeKalb 911 has made great progress over the years, and we have Billy along with others to thank for our success and accomplishments. Serving on the 911 board is not a paid position. This type of volunteer work and leadership speaks volumes about Mr. Adcock’s character. DeKalb 911 thanks him for his service and commitment to the citizens and the 911 community,” said Mullinax.

Senior DCHS basketball standouts Alex Antoniak and Ella VanVranken will be crowned the school’s “Baron” and Baroness” tonight (Friday, December 8) culminating a weeklong Alumni Homecoming observance. The presentations will be made during a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. prior to the DCHS and Warren County basketball games in Smithville which begin at 6 p.m.

Each year a member of both the Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball programs are honored with the title of “Baron” and “Baroness” .

The DCHS Alumni Homecoming Attendants are: Freshmen Chase Young and Brylee Kirby; Sophomores Jon Hendrix and Chloe VanVranken;; Juniors Jordan Parker and Annabella Dakas; and Seniors Conner Close and Elaina Turner

“Alumni Week” is observed at DCHS much in the same way as homecoming week is celebrated during the football season and each year a member of both the Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball programs are honored with the title of “Baron” and “Baroness”. The name “Baron” and “Baroness” is taken from Revolutionary War hero Major General Baron Johann De Kalb for whom DeKalb County was named when the county was created by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1837.

The Tigers (3-4) and the Lady Tigers (3-4) will host Warren County tonight (Friday, December 8) in Smithville. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game and WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

A night of high school basketball nostalgia!

DeKalb County and Cannon County High School basketball fans can take a trip down memory lane Saturday night as athletes of the past at both schools take to the court in Smithville for the First Ever Border Battle Alumni Basketball Games. The event will serve as a benefit for the DCHS Project Graduation. Admission is $5.00 but free for kids aged 3 and younger.

The first game tips off at 6 p.m. and WJLE will broadcast LIVE!

Former educator and coach Mike Braswell will be coaching the DCHS men’s Alumni Team and Teacher and former DCHS Lady Tiger basketball star Maryanne Puckett will coach the DCHS women’s Alumni squad.

The DCHS Alumni men’s roster includes the following and their year of graduation:
