Russell Leon Parton, age 70, of McMinnville passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Cannon Co.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Parton & his fiancee, Kelly Simpson; Brother, Grady Parton & his wife, Alice; Nephews, Ted Parton & Douglas Parton; Niece, Hallie Quick; Father, “Pa” Ray Davenport; Life Partner, Lynda Evans; Stepdaughter, Nicki Evans; Grandchildren, Newby, Jonah, Ian, Lindsay, & Chaley; and Great Grandchildren, Chasity, Allyann, & Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Ferrell Davenport; Father, “Bud” Parton; and a Stepson, Joey Evans.
Mr. Parton was a longtime resident of the Blues Hill Community and was a veteran of the Army. He was a retired employer of General Electric in Murfreesboro & more recently retired as a groundskeeper of Faulkner Cemetery. He loved mid-50s Ford cars, yard sales, flea markets, junkyards, & “all you can eat” buffets.
Funeral Service will be 11 AM Thursday, March 25, 2021 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Wood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, March 24, 2021 & 9 to 11 AM Thursday, March 25, 2021.
Loyd Walker
March 17, 2021
Loyd Walker, age 82 of Sparta was promoted to his heavenly home on March 16, 2021 at his residence. His battle with medical issues in recent years was a reflection of his courage and grace as he faced life’s challenges with a continual smile and sense of humor. He was a member of the Steven’s Street Baptist Church in Cookeville for years.
Loyd was born May 26, 1938 in Smithville, TN. He spent 30+ years working for Frito Lay and in that capacity served many local stores in Sparta and surrounding counties. In his free time, you could find Loyd working in his yard or riding his John Deere mower. He has even been lovingly accused of washing and polishing the rocks in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haston and Lena Walker and son, Jerry Walker.
Loyd is survived by:
Wife- Linda Walker of Sparta, TN
Daughter- Sherry Walker of Yuma, AZ
Granddaughter- Brittany Walker Howell (David) of White House, TN
Great-Granddaughters- Maddux and Raegan Howell of White House, TN
Daughter-in-Law- Carlena Walker of Cookeville, TN
Nephew- Corey Austin of Cookeville, TN
Special Family Friend- Mary Bailey of Sparta, TN
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta with Doug Benningfield officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers to serve are Robert McCormick, Robert Officer, Randy Hollaway, Jerry Choate, Joe Chappell, and Mike Vaughn
Honorary Pallbearers to serve are John David Wilson, Tommy Denton, and Charles Spakes

Talmage Young

Talmage Young was born in Woodbury, TN on May 24, 1946 and he passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at St Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.
He married the love of his life, Bobbie Tubb on April 18, 1970. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amerce & L.V. Barnes Young. Grandparents, Green & Sarah Cantrell Young , Ollie Barnes & Thomas & Della Turner Barnes Redmon, Father & Mother-in-law, Dib & Gertie Tubb.
Survivors include his wife Bobbie Tubb Young. Sister, Judie (John) Green of Walling, TN & a Brother, Anthony (Patricia) Young of Smithville, TN. Niece, Jayrah (Wade) Humphrey of Walling, TN. Great Niece & Nephew, McKennah & Bo Humphrey of Walling, TN. Special Care Givers, Elaine Cowart & Gail Thompson. His beloved pets, Butch, Baxter, Gracie, Sadie & a host of family & friends.
He attended The Baptist Tabernacle & Lower Helton The Baptist Church. Talmage had the desire to work in the automotive field since high school, working locally for the past 40 plus years with the Whites Auto, DeKalb Sales & Service & Smithville Auto Supply. He enjoyed guns, hunting, yard work, wood projects, working around the house, being with his family, friends & his pets.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 3pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Garry McBride, Bro. Johnny Adcock, Bro. Mike Gann & Bro. Donald Owens will officiate with burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00pm – 8:00pm & on Friday from 11:00 am until the service time at 3:00pm. The family asks that everyone attending the visitation and the funeral service to please wear a mask. We are not accepting food in the funeral home kitchen at this time.
In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the DeKalb Animal Coalition in memory of Talmage.

William David Linder

William David Linder age 67 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning March 12, 2021 at his sisters home in Smithville. He was born April 30, 1953 to his parents, the late George Dalton and Gladys Raynell Ashburn Linder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bryon Scott Linder; brother, Dalton Lee Linder and sister, Reba Nell Linder. David was a heavy equipment operator, worked at DTC for several years and worked at many other places in his lifetime and he attended Indian Creek Baptist Church. David leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters, Jennifer Linder and fiance, Josh Bain and Tami Vanatta both of Smithville; son, Scottie Linder and fiance, Brandy Perry of Smithville; 3 sisters, Patricia Linder, Debra Anderson and Linda (George) Bibby all of Smithville; grandchildren, Braxton Linder, Logan Smith, Teka Linder, Brandon Linder, Ethan White, Elijah White, Brayden Nicholas, Tristen Vanatta, and Trevor Lance; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 1:PM Monday, March 15, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Precious Memories Cemetery in Smithville. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 4:PM until 7:PM and Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The pews in the chapel are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Jerry Thomas Cantrell

Mr. Jerry Thomas Cantrell age 78 passed away at his residence in Smithville, March 11, 2021. He was born November 18, 1942 to his parents the late Ray Lee and Josephine Washer Cantrell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Glenda Buchanan. He attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a truck driver and a farmer. He is survived by a son, Jerry Lynn “Butch” (Kristi) Cantrell of McMinnville; daughter, Tina (Elize) Blakely of Kentucky; son-in-law, Stanley Holland of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Logan and Adam Cantrell of McMinnville, Jason Holland of Murfreesboro, Kevin Holland of South Carolina, Ethan Beasley, Rowan and Teegan Miller, Ryder Miller, Kayla Adams, Brayden Miller; great-grandchild, Ryan Thomas; special friend, Margie Miller of Smithville. A graveside service will be Saturday March 13, 2021 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens at 12:00 Noon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Ricky Lee Shehane

Mr. Ricky Lee Shehane age 56 of Smithville, TN passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Emergency Room of St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.
Mr. Shehane was born on April 23, 1964 to his Parents, the late Maxie Shehane & Ruth Judkins Cantrell. Also preceding him in death is a Daughter, Jennifer Shehane & 2 Brothers, Melvin Shehane & Buck Ferrell. Sister, Felisha Cantrell. He was disabled and had been a Nursery Worker.
Mr. Shehane’s wishes were that he be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service at a later time.
Survivors include his Son, Clent Shehane & 2 God Sons, Cody Murphy & Alex Murphy. 3 Sisters, Sarah Rogers, Barbara Bates & Karen Stacey. Mother-in-law, Elizabeth Bain. Brother-in-law, Ricky & Melissa Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
