Elizabeth Inez Bain

August 17, 2022

Elizabeth Inez Bain age 83 of Smithville passed Tuesday evening at her residence. She was a retired press operator with Federal Mogul and of the Pentecostal faith.

Mrs. Bain was born on July 5, 1939 in Smithville, TN to her parents Earnest & Wilma Page Vanatta. Also preceding her in death were 2 husbands, Jay Loyd Young and Alton Bain, 2 children, James Young and Tammy Jennings, 1 brother, James Vanatta and 2 sisters- Faye Pedigo and Billie Sanders. Stepson, Kenneth Bain.3 Stepdaughters, Eva Roberts, Nina Self, and Annette Muncy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 4pm with Bro. Jerry Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from, 6pm until 8pm and on Thursday from 8am until the time of the service at 4pm.

She is survived by 5 children, Sandra & David Bain, Doug & Laura Young, Dickie Bain and Melissa & Ricky Murphy all of Smithville and Donna Brock of Texas. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. 2 Stepsons, Buck Bain and James Alton (Jessica) Bain. 2 Stepdaughters, Dorita Taylor and Sammy Dorris Miller. 1 sister, Dean and Jimmy Johnson of Smithville. A special friend, Brandi Cantrell and caregivers, Nikki Martin and Amber Bain also survive. The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice, Adorations and Suncrest.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.

Mary Arnold Foster

August 16, 2022

Mary Arnold Foster age 89 passed away Sunday August 14, 2022, at Willow Branch Health and Rehab in McMinnville. She was born May 23, 1933, to her parents the late James and Alton Smith Alexander. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ike Alexander, Nick Alexander, Jimmy Alexander, and Bill Alexander; sisters Dorothy Beckham and Audrey Elam. Ms. Mary was of the Baptist Faith and was a Homemaker. She is survived by children, Carolyn (Mike) Bozarth of McMinnville, Terry Arnold of Greenbrier, Tn., and Darlene (Bill) Hughes of Goodlettsville; grandchildren, Lindsey (Danny) George, Jessica (Dave) Kelly, Kayla (David) Webb, Jacob Bozarth, Jared (Lauren) Bozarth; great-grandchildren Truman, John, Sophia, Katelynn, Jackson, Jordyn, Dawson, Hudson, and Carson; sisters, Frances (Jackie) Rigsby of Smithville, and Nancy Colwell of McMinnville. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday August 17, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Kliewer officiating and burial to follow in Taylor Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Albert Knight

Albert Knight age 61 passed away Saturday August 13, 2022, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Mr. Knight was born January 6,1961 to his parents the late James Bedford and Anna Sue Smallwood Knight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ledia Nokes; granddaughter, Shyanna Knight; 2 brothers, Joe Knight and Phillip Knight; sister, Charlotte Johnson. He was a Mechanic and a Farmer. He is survived by his children, Sandra Knight, Sue Knight, James Knight, Bradley Knight, and Angel Knight.; grandchildren, Christopher Gibbs, Navaya Knight, Dillion Johnson, Anna Knight, Katelyn Knight, Romeo Knight, Clayton, Madison and Tiera Knight, Heaven, Danny, and Kimora Austin; great-grandchildren, Patience Knight, Addison and Aiden Gibbs; sister, Frances Watts. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Tuesday at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Monday 4:00PM till 7:00PM and on Tuesday 10:00AM until 12:30 PM at which time Mr. Knight will be taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Burton Jones

August 12, 2022

Burton Jones age 75 of the Green Hill area passed away, Friday, August 12th, in Nashville, TN at Alive Hospice, following a brief illness. He was born in McMinnville August 19, 1946. Preceding him in death were his parents Brackett and Chloe Stoner Jones, a brother; Clifton Jones and 7 sisters; Frances Wilson, Opal Cantrell, Geraldean Reynolds, Arlene Oakley, Johnnie Jones, Faye Hobbs and Brenda Gail Bouldin. He was a retired farmer and nurseryman. Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Lena Jones of the Green Hill area, 2 sons; Danny (Penny) Jones, Teddy (Amanda) Jones both of the Green Hill area, 1 daughter; April (Wes) Winton of Winchester, 8 grandchildren, Danielle Glaeser, Gabrielle Locke, Dreama Leemis, Dillon Jones, Dana Jones, Breanna Jones, Julie Winton, and Issac Winton, 5 great grandchildren, Scarlett Glaeser, Preston Leemis, Evie Leemis, Sophia Leemis, and Brimlee Jones; several nieces and nephews also survive.  Burton was a member of the Bluff Springs Church of Christ and was previously a member of the Keltonburg Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He was a vendor at the Warren County Farmers Market for 25 years. Funeral services will be 4:30 PM Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Dekalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Teddy Jones, April Winton and Wes Winton officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with the family will be Saturday 4:PM until 7:PM and Sunday 2:PM until the time of the service at 4:30PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Goldie Hale

Goldie Hale age 82, of Smithville, passed away Thursday August 11, 2022 at her residence. She was born January 27, 1940 to her parents the late Alfred Dellon and Velma Judd Youngblood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Francis Hogan and Peggy Hale. Ms. Goldie was a member of Christ Pentacostal Church and she worked as a Seamstress at the Shirt Factory. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Billy Hale of Smithville; sons, Scott Hale of Nashville, and Tim (Angeline) Hale of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Rosa Grace Hale and Asher Hale; brother, Bud Youngblood of Dowelltown; sister-in-law, Donna (Richard) Summers of Dowelltown; brother-in-law, Carlon (Jean) Hale of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday August 14, 2022 at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating with burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 4:00PM till 8:00 PM and on Sunday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Caris Hospice or Gideon Bibles. Mark Daniel Ours

August 12, 2022

64-year-old Mark Daniel Ours of Murfreesboro passed away Friday morning at Stone Crest Hospital in Smyrna of an extended illness. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and a Civil Engineer for the cities of Columbia and Murfreesboro. A graveside services will be held on Sunday at 3pm at the Keltonburg Methodist Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Cloyd officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from Noon until 2:30pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Mr. Ours was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Ours. He is survived by his mother, Laverne Ours of Smithville; 2 brothers, Dr. David (Robyn) Ours of Milton, John Ours of Smithville; special friends, Melanie Richardson, Nancy Hoover, Cliff Price, and Mark Wallace; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to flowers donations can be made to Keltonburg Methodist Cemetery.
