Sue Wheeler

Sue Reeder Wheeler age 70 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday night, December 22, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1952 to her parents, the late Alvie Allen and Lura Jean Shehane Reeder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eudean Wheeler, 2 sons, Donnie Lane and Lonnie Lynn Wheeler; 9 siblings, Johnny, Ed, Ricky, Timmy, Dennis, David, Jerry and Stevie Reeder and Janice Johnson. Sue was a retired factory worker and a member of the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter, Amy (Dave) Lowrance of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Brittany Wheeler, Tiffany Cota, Austin Lowrance, Shawnee Lowrance, Isabella Lowrance, Kyra Lowrance, and Harley Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jasmine Gallegos and Grabriella Williams; 2 brothers, Bug Reeder and Tony Reeder both of Smithville; 2 sisters, Peggy (Dan) Parks of Kingston, NH and Lisa Vice of Smithville and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 2:PM Thursday, December 29, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bernard Houk and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday December 28, 2022 12 Noon until 8:PM and Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




James Clayton Parsley

James Clayton Parsley age 89 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday morning at NHC HealthCare in Smithville. He was born March 19, 1933 to his parents, the late Alvie Vester and Jocie Evelyn Tittsworth Parsley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Parsley and sister, Nina Johnson Rhody. Clayton was a member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he worked at Ford for 35 years, farmer and served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years. He is survived by 4 sons, Donnie Parsley of Nashville, Ted Parsley of McMinnville, Ricky Parsley of Nashville and David Scott Parsley of Nashville; step-son, Jason Parsley of Panama City, FL; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Vester Parsley of Smithville; 4 sisters, Reba Patton of McMinnville, Jerrie Paone of GA, Judy Mundt of Texas, Penny Bolton of Murfreesboro and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 PM Wednesday December 28, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 3 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Patsy Ann Jones

December 23, 2022

Patsy Ann Jones, age 91, of Dickson, TN, (formerly of Liberty, TN), passed away peacefully at her daughter’s house on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Patsy was born September 19, 1931, in Temperance Hall, Tennessee, to the late John Wesley and Gertrude (Williams) Tubb. She is the youngest of six siblings. She retired from Work & Wear Manufacturing in Alexandria, TN. She is also a member of the Mt. Zion Church. She loved her family; she loved to crochet, and she loved living on her farm and vegetable gardening.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carolyn (Donnie) Spann of Dickson, TN; granddaughters, Carla Spann (Eric Sease) of Bellevue, TN, and Keri (Joel) Howell of White Bluff, TN; great-granddaughter, Greta Howell of White Bluff, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Wiley Roy Jones, Jr., brothers, Jack and Joe Tubb; and sisters, Lizzie Nixon, Jonnie Spence, and Lois Spencer.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be at DeKalb Funeral Chapel on Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM.

Loretta Adcock

December 21, 2022

Mrs. Loretta Adcock, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at her residence in Smithville, TN. She passed peacefully with family and friends at her side after a 4 year battle with cancer. She fought hard and never gave up till the week of her passing. She was a strong lady who fiercely loved her family, friends and coworkers. She always showed kindness and compassion to anyone around her.

Mrs. Adcock was born on February 13, 1962 in Smithville, TN to her parents, Mitchell & Imogene Adcock. Preceding her in death was a son, Michael Adcock and brother, Charles Adcock. Loretta attended Outreach Baptist Church and was a bank teller for Wilson Bank and Trust. She was a past member of the Smithville Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Nathan Thomason will officiate, and burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm and Tuesday 10:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00.

Survivors include her husband, of almost 40 years, Larry Adcock, 1 son and daughter-in-law, Anthony (Tammi) Adcock all of Smithville, grandson, Johnathon Adcock of Laverne, parents, Mitchell and Imogene Adcock of Smithville, mother-in-law, Sara Adcock, brother-in-law, Douglas (Dawn) Adcock all of Murfreesboro, sister-in-law, Lori Hendrixson Adcock, nephew, Shannon (Jennifer) Adcock and Nate all of Smithville. 3 special golden girlfriends, Symantha Haley of Mt. Juliet, Kathy Adcock Merz and Renee Hennessee of Smithville. A host of cousins and friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses in memory of Loretta.

Betty Bing Smith

December 20, 2022

97 year old Betty Bing Smith of Smithville passed away on Monday December 19, 2022 at the Webb House in Smithville. She was the former owner/operator of the Sunrise Grill and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith was also a member of the B&PW Club, and the Home Demonstration Club. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2022 at 1pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Bro. Dan Gulley and Bro. Bobby Black will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the Smith family will be on Tuesday from 3pm until 6pm, and on Wednesday from 11am until the time of services at 1pm.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Bing Sr. and Mary Ova Summers Bing; Husband, Warren Smith; Daughter, Marcia Smith Taylor and a son-in-law, Lloyd Black.

Survivors include 1 Daughter, Debra Black of Smithville; 1 Grandson, Andrew Taylor of Smithville; Son-in-law, Burks Taylor of Pleasant View, TN; 1 Step Grandson, Robby (Jessica) Black of McMinnville; 1 Step Granddaughter, Heather (Doug) Black Hennessee of Manchester. A number of Nieces, Nephews, and Friends also survive.

Daniel Eugene (Danny) Page

December 20, 2022

68-year-old Daniel Eugene (Danny) Page of Alexandria died Monday at Wilson Manor Assisted Living Center in Lebanon. He was a DeKalb County native and a member of West Main Baptist Church. He was employed at Shenandoah Mills. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Dusty Desimone will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Page was preceded in death by his father, Willis Edward Page; a sister, Marcie; and a brother, David. He is survived by his mother, Katie Ruth Page of Alexandria. Nieces, Magan and Sonny Mask and Karissa and Dewayne Grandstaff all of Watertown. Great nieces and nephews, Lucas Paris, Cody Paris, Amber Granstaff, and Aiden Granstaff. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
