The DCHS basketball teams swept the Smith County Owls and Owlettes Tuesday night at Carthage winning 32 to 25 in the girls game and 65 to 56 in the boys contest.
For the girls, DeKalb County led 11 to 5 after the 1st period, 19 to 14 at halftime, and 22 to 19 after the 3rd period before winning 32 to 25.
Emme Colwell scored 15. Lydia Brown 6. Mya Ruch 5. Kenzie France 4 and Megan Walker with 2.
In the boys game the Tigers led the Owls 18 to 9 after the 1st period, 40 to 19 at halftime, and 51 to 31 after the 3rd period before getting the 65 to 56 victory.
Nathan Atkins scored 23. Trey Jones and Tanner Poss each with 12. Marshal Evins 10. Austin Johnson 5 and Dallas Cook with 3.
DeKalb County will conclude the regular season at Macon County Thursday night, February 8 starting with the girls game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game. WJLE plans LIVE coverage.
