Tigers and Ladies Complete Season Sweep of Smith County

The DCHS basketball teams have completed a regular season sweep of the Smith County Owls and Owlettes.

The DC Lady Tigers knocked off the visitors from Carthage 58 to 34 while the Tigers notched their fifth win of the season beating the Owls 46 to 42 Thursday night in Smithville. In the earlier meetings on January 15 at Carthage, the Lady Tigers won 67 to 62 in overtime and the Tigers beat the Owls 78 to 51.

In the girls game Thursday night, DC led 15 to 11 after the 1st period, 37 to 22 at halftime, and 43 to 29 after the 3rd period before going on to win 58 to 34.

Lydia Brown scored 14, Joni Robinson 13, Emme Colwell 12, Kadee Ferrell 11, Mya Ruch 5, Kenzie France 2, and Mallori Hart 1.

In the boys game, the Tigers led 12 to 7 after the 1st period, 26 to 13 at halftime, and 31 to 28 after the 3rd period before winning 46 to 42.

Colter Norris scored 11, Dallas Cook 8, Hayden Thomas 7, Lucas Hale 6, Dakota White 5, Tanner Poss 4, Evan Jones 3, and Nathan Atkins 2.

The Lady Tigers improve to 18-8 on the season and conclude the district race with a record of 10-4 finishing in 3rd place. The Tigers are now 5-21 on the year and conclude the district season 4-10 in 7th place.

DCHS will host Monterey tonight (Friday, February 8) on Senior Night to wrap up the regular season. The district tournament starts next week at Cookeville High School and Tennessee Tech. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
