Tigerettes Cruise to 12-2 Win over York Institute

The DCHS Tigerettes jumped out to an early lead over York Institute Monday and cruised to a 12-2 victory.

DC scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and exploded for 8 in the 3rd inning. The Tigerettes tacked on 2 more runs in the 6th inning. York Institute scored 1 run in the 1st and 6th innings.

DeKalb County scored 12 runs on 10 hits and made 3 errors. York Institute scored 2 runs on 8 hits and made 4 errors.

Madison Whitehead was the winning pitcher for the Tigerettes. She surrendered 1 run on 4 hits over 4 innings, striking out 5 and walking 1. Ellie Cripps threw 2 innings in relief out of the bullpen and gave up 1 run on 4 hits. She struck out 3 and walked 1.

The Tigerettes scored in the 1st inning on a triple by Kenzie France and a double by Emme Colwell.  DC’s offense in the 3rd inning was sparked by a triple from Maddison Parsley, a single by Megan Walker, an error on a ball put in play by Braya Murphy, and a double by Jacey Hatfield.

For the game, Hatfield had 3 hits and 2RBI, Parsley with 2 hits and an RBI, Megan Walker a hit and an RBI, Kenzie France a hit and 2 RBI, Emme Colwell a hit and an RBI and Braya Murphy and Madison Whitehead each had a hit.
