The DCHS basketball teams are still looking for their first district victories of the season after losing at home to York Institute Friday night.
The Lady Tigers lost 54 to 53 in overtime and the Tigers were defeated 69 to 57.
In the girls game, York Institute led 14 to 10 after the 1st period and 29 to 23 by halftime. The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Dragons 14 to 8 to tie the game at 37 by the end of the 3rd period and the teams played to a 48 all tie by the end of regulation. But in the overtime period, York Institute outscored DC 6 to 5 and won 54 to 53.
Mya Ruch scored 18 for the Lady Tigers. Emme Colwell and Kenzie France each scored 9. Megan Walker 7, Megan Cantrell 6 and Kadee Ferrell with 4 points.
The Tigers trailed the Dragons 18 to 11 after the 1st period but outscored them 20 to 13 in the 2nd period for a 31 all tie by halftime. The Dragons pulled ahead 51 to 41 by the end of the 3rd period and went on to win 69 to 57.
Evans Jones scored 21 for the Tigers. Dakota White 14. Lucas Hale 11. Dallas Cook 4. Elisha Ramos 3 and Luke Jenkins and Jordan Young each with 2.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers each drop to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in the district. They will host Livingston Academy Tuesday night, December 10 in Smithville starting with the girls game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys contest. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
