It came down to the wire on Friday, but the DeKalb County Tigerettes took the victory on a dramatic walk-off double in the late innings sealing their victory over Waverly Central in the softball tournament at Waverly. The Tigerettes were down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Emma Johnson doubled on an 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Waverly Central fired up the offense in the second inning scoring one run when Sadie Vaughn singled.
DeKalb County knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ellie Cripps lined out, scoring one run.
Cripps was the winning pitcher for DeKalb County. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out two.
Shelby Baker took the loss for Waverly Central. Baker went six and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out five.
The Tigerettes tallied six hits including two each from Jacey Hatfield and Aniston Farler
