89 year old Ruth Ann Holmes of Smithville passed away Wednesday at the Webb House. She was a US Navy veteran and a homemaker. The funeral will be at the Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The date and time have not yet been announced. Burial will be in the Onslow Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester G. Holmes Sr.. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia and William Russell of Smithville. A son, Chester Holmes, Jr. of North Carolina. A sister, Joan Schaub of Ohio. Four grandchildren, Ashley and Nathan Pettit of Smithville, Robert Russell of Shelbyville, William and Allison Russell, II of Georgia, and Jonathan and Brittany Russell of Georgia. Twelve great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Special thanks to everyone and the Webb House. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
