Claude Astor Morgan, III

Claude “Mr. Bud” Astor Morgan, III, age 87 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning February 10, 2025, at his residence.  He was born September 4, 1937, to his parents, the late Claude Astor Morgan, II, and Florence Elizabeth Snyder Morgan Palmer.  He was a salesman for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., served in the Virginia National Guard and attended Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.  Survivors include 2 Children: Julie (Mark) David of Smithville, Craig (Holly) Morgan of Ft. Worth, TX.; Grandchildren: Kristal (Johnny) Turner, Tyler (Elisabeth) David, Kylie Gathright, Geren Gathright; Great Grandchildren: Trace Turner, Natchez Turner, Flynn David and Rose David.  The family has honored Mr. Morgan’s request to be cremated.  A Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM until the service at 5 PM.  In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alive Hospice or Alzheimer’s of the Upper Cumberland, in memory of Mr Morgan.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Morgan family.



Melinda Williams

Melinda Williams age 57 of Smithville, passed away Saturday night, February 8, 2025, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER.  She was born in Abilene, Texas on November 3, 1967, to her parents, Frances Washburn Hill and the late Billy Hill.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Bobbie Hill and aunt, Elaine Washburn.  She was a Christian and a caregiver before becoming disabled.  She is survived by her husband, Don Williams of Smithville; 5 children, Lisa (Shane) Smith of Lebanon, John Williams (Cass Adkins) of Smithville, Mary (Bryan) Cantrell of Smithville, David (Mike) Williams-Burr of Gainesboro and Daniel (Stephanie) Williams of Greenfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Braxton Cantrell, Preston Cantrell, Eli Cantrell, Haley Cantrell, Sawyer Smith, Isla Williams, Orabelle Williams, Kaulder Williams, Cassie Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Zayvion Pearson and Harmony Peyatt; mother, Frances Hill of Old Hickory, 2 brothers, Scott Hill of Gallatin, Frank Hill of Holiday, TN and sister, Diana (Les) Anderson of Old Hickory along with other family and friends.  The family has honored Melinda’s request to be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Outreach Baptist Church with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating.  Visitation will be at Outreach Baptist Church from 4 PM until the time of the service at 5 PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Williams family.



Charles Elbert Young

Charles Elbert Young age 93, of the Dibrell Community passed away Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2025 at NHC HealthCare in McMinnville. He was born June 14, 1931 to his parents, the late Henry and Myrtle Jones Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Maureen Gillette, Juanita Donalson, Betty Jean Young, Willie Young, Gerald Young and Marvin Young. Mr. Young was a retired Elementary School Teacher with Warren County Schools and he was a faithful member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Young of the Dibrell Community; 3 children, Terry (Joyce) Young of Smithville, Tonia (Marty) Lockman of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA and Tim (Marilyn) Young of Tunnel Hill, GA; 6 grandchildren, Erin, Amy, Kelley, Isaac, Nia and Tela; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jimmy Earl (Marlene) Young of Dibrell; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 10:AM Monday, February 10, 2025 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Elder Ricky Arnold officiating. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at DeKalb Memorial Gardens for the graveside service at 10:AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Young family.
