Beverly Ann Jones

Beverly Ann Jones, age 80, of Smithville, passed away on March 6, 2025, at her residence. Born on January 22, 1945, in Woodbury, TN, she was the daughter of the late John and Julie Ellen Hendrixson Tittsworth. Beverly was a retired employee of Timers, of the Baptist faith, and an Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Calvin Jones; her son, James Brian Jones; and her sisters, Hazel Haynes and Shelby Tittsworth.
Beverly is survived by her devoted daughters, Tamera (Brad) Vaughn of Lebanon and Pam Baumann of Smithville; her grandchildren, Brian Baumann of Smithville, Ashely (James) Smith of Mt. Juliet, and Allen Ivey of Mt. Juliet; and her great-grandchildren, who were the loves of her life, Anniston Ivey, Preston Smith, and Madison Smith, all of Mt. Juliet. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Susan Young of Smithville, several special nieces and nephews, and her special friend and caretaker, Elizabeth Smith.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Caris Healthcare, especially Corey, Kendall, and Felicia, for their love and care.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from noon until 8 and on Sunday from 11 until the time of service at 2, with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
In addition to flowers, the family requests that donations be made at the funeral home to Shriners Children Hospital in Beverly’s memory.

Cynthia L. Thurman age 67 of Smithville passed away Thursday morning, March 6, 2025. She was born December 27, 1957 to her parents, the late Fred McKinley and Carol June Rittenberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Thurman; brother, Robert Johnson and sister, Sandra Johnson. She worked as a cook. She is survived by her son, Tim Hemmati (Amanda Miller) of Smithville; daughter, Sara Hemmati of Lebanon; 3 grandchildren, Hannah and Hailey Lohman and Autumn Hemmati; brothers, Fred McKinley Johnson, II of Murfreesboro, Joey Johnson of Tampa. FL and John Johnson of Lebanon. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kim Slickmeyer officiating and interment will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM at the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Dekalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Thurman family.

Gary L. Vonckx age 76, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Cookeville, Tn. Gary was born May 24, 1948, in Fort Pierce, FL. He graduated from University of Central Florida in Orlando. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy for 6 years and served aboard the USS California. He worked for Unisys, a computer corporation, and later retired from the City of Port St. Lucie, FL after 20 years. Gary was an avid surfer when he lived in Florida and later transferred that passion to golf. He moved to Smithville in 2006 and was a member of Allen’s Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. Lloyd and Elizabeth Shimoneck Vonckx. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kitty Vonckx of Smithville; 2 step-children, Julie Kenny of Smithville and Mike Sullivan of Lake Mary, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Christian Sullivan, in the US Air Force in New Mexico, Anilyse and Natalie Sullivan of Lake Mary, Florida, and Jonathan (Ashley) Morris; 3 great-grandsons, Colton, Owen and Mason Morris of Smithville. He was a devoted husband, stepfather and grandfather and made a tremendous impact on their lives. He lives on in our hearts with the many good memories we have. Funeral services will be Monday March 10, 2025, at 1:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Grant Goodwin officiating and interment to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday March 9, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel at 2:00PM till 5:00PM and on Monday March 10, 2025, 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM.
