Margie Juanita McGinness Donalson age 95 of McMinnville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Woodbury Health and Rehab. She was born September 17, 1924 to her parents, the late Eld. Henry Edward and Myrtle Jones Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Dennis McGinness and Virgil Donalson; 2 brothers, Marvin and Willy G. Young and sister, Betty Jean Young. Juanita was a member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church and retired from River Park Hospital as the charge cook in the dietary department. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Carolyn (Toby) Cantrell of Smithville; son, Kenneth (Sharon) McGinness of Smyrna; 7 grandchildren, Jamie (Andrew) Cantrell of Sparta, Teresa Cantrell and Lisa (Dustin) Prater both of Smithville, Kendra (Christopher) Estes of Smyrna, Keith Huff of Smyrna, Kraig (Ana) Huff of Carlsbad< CA and Krista of Vista, CA; 14 great-grandchildren, Sarah (Ricardo) Torres, Hannah (Caleb) Johnson< Isaac Cantrell, Zachary Atnip, Peyton Atnip, Lauren Hale, Maddie Prater, Dillon Estes, Mackenzie Estes, Jackson Estes, Bailey Jo Huff, Kolby Huff, Dayja and Marcello; 1 great-great-grandson, RJ Torres; 1 sister, Maureen Gillette of Dibrell; 3 brothers, Charles (Barbara) Young and Jimmy (Marlene) Young both of Dibrell and Gerald (Lee) Young of Florida; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday, March 9, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Elder Joseph Arnold officiating and burial will follow at New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 1 P.M. until 6 P.M. and Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 P.M. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to help with funeral expenses, in memory of Ms. Juanita. Dr. Richard Loren Jones age 91 of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning, March 5, 2020 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. He was born November 9, 1928 in Pana, IL to his parents, the late Harold Vernon and Helen Kay Grossman Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles V. Jones. Dr. Jones practiced in Cowden, Illinois until his retirement in 1969 at which time he and his family moved to Arizona and where he served as Student Health Administrator at ASU. He was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Korea. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Delores Jones of Smithville; 2 children, Richard Reed Jones of Crossville and Janet (Kevin) Felts of Tullahoma; 1 grandson, Trent Jones of Knoxville and 1 great-granddaughter, Nora Jones. The family has chosen a direct cremation and a Memorial Service will be held 5:PM Sunday March 15, 2020 at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 3:PM until the time of the service at 5:PM at the Church. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Jimmy Hoyte Taylor age 81 of the Snow Hill Community, passed away Thursday morning, March 5, 2020 at his residence. Jimmy was born August 25, 1938 to his parents, the late Jasper and Ocia Page Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nadean Taylor; sister, Dossie Taylor; nephews, Kenny Rhody, Terry Watts; niece, Rhonda Newby; sisters-in-law, Melba (Arnold) Watts and Nadell (Paul) Grissom. Jimmy was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Carrier. He is survived by his daughter, Jan Taylor of Dowelltown; sister, June Rhody of Smithville; niece, Gayle (Stacy) Caldwell; nephews, Myron (Cindy) Rhody and Tim (Regina) Watts; several great-nieces and nephews; special granddaughters by love, Caitlin and Christian and their parents, Tammy and Scott Turner. Funeral services will be 2:PM Sunday, March 8, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Joel Wood and Bill Robertson officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 1:PM until 8:PM and Sunday 9:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. Lula “Delsa” Stevens age 85 of Smithville passed away Friday March 6th at her residence. Mrs. Stevens was a Homemaker. She was preceded in death by her Husband J.D. Stevens, Parents Robert and Willie Pack Murphy, Grandson Larry J. Stevens, several brothers and sisters. Survivors include Son Larry (Rose) Stevens of Smithville. 2 Grandchildren Marty Stevens of Smithville, and Sandra (Matthew) Majors of Smithville. Sister-In-Law Lydia Murphy of McMinnville. Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 8th 2020 at 1:30pm. Bro Danny Bandy will officiate. Burial will be at Cantrell Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 1pm till 8pm, and Sunday 10am till the time of the service at 1:30pm. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mack N. Judkins age 75 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, March 4, 2020 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. He was born April 7, 1944 to his parents, the late Oliver and Nodia Young Judkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, David S. Carlton and Cooper Judkins; 3 sisters, Ravanell Culwell, Corina Young and an infant sister. Mack was a nurseryman and member of the Allen’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by 1 brother, Eddie Roy (Edith) Judkins of Smithville; sister-in-law, Janice Judkins of Smithville; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Phil Tollett and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 3 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help with funeral expenses, in memory of Mack. 46-year-old Cindy Vaughn of Smithville died Sunday, March 1st at her residence of natural causes. A memorial service is scheduled Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Smithville. Visitation with the family will be from Noon until 2:00.
A native of Smithville, she was a graduate of DeKalb County High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. At age 11, she professed faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord…and was baptized as a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
Cindy was the daughter of Ralph E. Vaughn of Nashville and the late Betty Sue Driver Vaughn of Smithville. In addition to her mother, Cindy was preceded in death by her grandparents – Robert and Lorene Driver of Alexandria; J.D. and Betty Vaughn Wilson and C.W. Wilson of Smithville.
Survivors include her father, Ralph (June) Vaughn of Nashville; brother, Randy (Natasha) Vaughn; nephew, Drake (Amanda) Vaughn; niece, Ellie Vaughn; great niece, Amelia Vaughn; and special friend, Rex Elder, all of Smithville.
To honor Cindy’s memory, memorials may be made in her name to DeKalb Animal Coalition, Lighthouse Christian Camp or Haven of Hope.
