Larry D. Cantrell

Larry D. Cantrell, age 78, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
Larry was born on July 17, 1945 in Jamestown, TN to Teman and Cleta Turner Cantrell. He graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1969 with a degree in Engineering. Following his graduation from Tennessee Tech he joined the Army where he served in Korea as an officer.

Following his time in the Army, Larry worked at Nashville Electric as engineer. While he was working he also attended Nashville School of Law and obtained his law degree. He served as the Judge of Berry Hill for 30 years.

Larry met the love of his life, Linda Irvin and they married on July 17, 1996 in Nashville, TN, which is not only their anniversary but both of their birthdays. Larry and Linda had a 12-year-old yorkie, Hannah, whom he loved dearly. He loved spending time with his family in Jamestown as well as with Linda and her children. In his free time, he enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard Cantrell of Pennsylvania and Sister, Barbara (W.J.) Cantrell Page of Alexandria, TN.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Irvin Cantrell; Stepchildren; Jay Sumner and Laura Myers; Grandchildren, Caden and Elijah Myers; Niece, Denise Page of Smithville, TN; Nephews, Daryl (Renee) Page and Darrin Page of Smithville, TN, Jamie (Melissa) Page of Gallatin, TN; Great Nephews and Niece. Jarred Dawson and family, Leslie Page, Johnathon Page and family, all of Smithville, TN; and Alyssa Page of Gallatin, TN.

Pallbearers for Larry’s service will include, Darrin Page, Jamie Page, Jarred Dawson, Nick Thompson, Brian Myers and Jay Sumner.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Larry will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. Following the gathering of family and friends will be a Graveside service at 12:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park.




Richard Aubrey Lasser Sr.

Mr. Richard Aubrey Lasser Sr., age 67, of Smithville passed away at DeKalb St. Thomas Hospital on Wednesday, July, 19,2023. He was a retired truck driver. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who adored his family.

Mr. Lasser was born on November 30, 1955 to his parents Harry Gust & Helen Carney Lasser who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Lasser and 2 sisters, Phyllis and Shirley.

The family has chosen direct cremation and a memorial service will be held at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home at a later date.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Michelle (Brian) Reece, Stephanie (Antonio) Cerrillo of Smithville, Kristy Lasser (Chris Peavy) of Florida, 1 son, Richard (Ashley) Lasser of Brush Creek, 8 grandchildren, Landon Lasser, Alicia Long, Logan Lasser, Gabby Ramirez, Aubrey Lasser, Carly Cerrillo, Natalie Cerrillo and Sophia Peavy, significant other, Angie Lackey of Smithville, 2 brothers, Harry (Edith) Lasser of Smithville and William Lasser of Carthage, 1 sister, Winnie (George) Locket of Florida, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Oneda Jane Waggoner

July 19, 2023

Oneda Jane Waggoner, age 91, of Smithville passed away at her residence Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Mrs. Waggoner was a homemaker and attended New West Point Freewill Baptist Church.

She was born on March 25, 1932 to her parents Harvey & Effie Ford Montgomery who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Waggoner, Grandson, Samuel Wright, 3 Brothers & 1Sister-in-law, Kenneth & Helen Montgomery, Gary Glen Montgomery and Cordial Montgomery, 2 Sisters & 3 brothers-in-law, Marthena & H.O. Allison, Sharon & Mike Rhoten and Clem Sczech.

Visitation with the Waggoner family will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am until the service at 2:00 pm. Brother Davey Horton and Sister Sheila Machado will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by one son, Jerome Waggoner, 1 daughter, Teresa (John) Wright, 1 granddaughter, Olivia (Ivan) Beale, 2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Samuel & Connor Brooks Beale, special caregiver, Sue Arnold all of Smithville, 2 sisters, Donna (Jerry) Moore of Baxter and Minnie Sczech of Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Refuge Church Building Fund.

Ray Cripps

July 17, 2023

Mr. Ray Cripps, age 92, of Smithville passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was a retired self-employed contractor, an army veteran, and a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church.

He was born on June 19, 1931 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Roy and Cora Tramel Cripps. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Naomi Cripps; 3 brothers, Hoyte Cripps, RL Cripps, and Bobby Cripps; 5 sisters, Nettie Foster, Marene Garvey, Dorothy Mansuetti, Joann Rhody, and Judy Hale.

Visitation with the Cripps family will be on Thursday from 4-8pm and on Friday from noon until the funeral service at 2:00. Bro. Ronnie Gay will be officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his 2 children, Susan Medley and Greg (Kelly) Cripps all of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Brandise (Phillip) Raikes of Murfreesboro, Nichol Greathouse of Smithville, Chris Layne of Georgia, Brooke (David) Lockhart of Altamont, Zachary (Hillary) Cripps of Murfreesboro, and Brian Cripps of Manchester; 11 great-grandchildren: Hunter Layne, Emily Greathouse, Braelyn Teachout, Abigail Raikes, Bryleigh Teachout, Aidan Layne, Dreamer Cripps, Honor Cripps, Benton Lockhart, Beckett Lockhart, and Oaklyn Cripps; 1 great-great grandchild, Bailey Layne; 2 sisters, Wanda (Orvil) Hendrix and Faye West all of Dowelltown.

Scot Wane Tower

Mr. Scot Wane Tower, age 67, passed away at Tristar Centennial Hospital on July 15, 2023. He was a retired supervisor from Federal Mogul, a previous member of the rescue squad, and attended Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.

He was born on July 10, 1956 in Troy, PA to his parents, Robert Edward and Jean Dryer Tower.

Visitation with the Tower family will be on Tuesday from 5-8pm and on Wednesday from noon until the service at 2pm with burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bill Robertson will officiate

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Tower; brother, Robert Charles Tower; and sister, Cindy Tower Nash.

Mr. Tower is survived by his daughter, Shelia (Brandon) Crawford of Sparta; one granddaughter, Hannah Crawford of Sparta; Mother, Jean Tower of Cookeville; 4 brothers, Tim (Linda) Tower, Bill Tower, David (Phyllis) Tower, Shawn (Vicky) Tower all of Cookeville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and mother of his daughter, Janice Tower Clayborn.

Mr. Robert Edgar Adcock, Sr.

Mr. Robert Edgar Adcock, Sr., age 85, of Woodbury passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023 at his home.  He was born to his parents, Newton Edgar Adcock & Nannie Helen Jones Adcock on July 19, 1937 in Dekalb Co.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rhonda Lee Helm Adcock of Woodbury; Sons, Robert E. “Robin” Adcock, Jr. (Cherie) of Hendersonville & Thomas Patrick Adcock (Kristie) of Woodbury; Daughters, Regina Adcock of Kingston, Haley Adcock Bailey (Jamie) of Eagleville & Rita Adcock of Atlanta; Sister, Jean Ridney (Joe) of Woodbury; and 9 Grandchildren, Caleb Adcock, Jacob Adcock, Chelsea Adcock Newton, Riley Adcock, Harley Adcock, River Armstrong, Crimson Armstrong, Avalee Armstrong, & Bristol Adcock.  Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mr. Adcock was a member of the Dillon Street Baptist Church and was a retired salesman and truck driver.  He loved to grow a huge garden and was an avid hunter and sportsman.  He cherished his grandkids and was affectionately known as “Pa” and “Granddad”.

Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon Friday, July 21, 2023 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Campbell & Bro. Ray Patrick officiating.  His family will receive friends for the visitation from 10 AM until 12 Noon Friday.
