Brian Clayborn

Brian Clayborn age 44 of Alexandria, Tn. passed away Friday, March 20th 2020 at his residence. Brian was preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather Billy Arnold, and paternal Grandfather Bobby Clayborn. Survivors include Daughter Shelby Clayborn, Parents Kenneth and Shelia Clayborn, Grandmothers Bula Arnold and Mildred Clayborn.
The funeral Service will be Monday, March 23 at 1pm at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Bro. Jonathon Willoughby will officiate, with burial at Hillview Cemetery (Family Only). Visitation will be Sunday 4pm-8pm, and Monday 10am till service time at 1pm. Pallbearers Kevin Chappell, Jon Johnson, Dale Sholders, Lonnie Eaton, Eddie Reynols, Shawn Caplinger, Jason Marlor, and Randy Sowell. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Dr. Harold David Maxwell

March 21, 2020

Dr. Harold David Maxwell, age 75, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. He was born in Smithville, TN to the late Toy Maxwell and the late Helen Brown Maxwell Carter. He will be remembered for his many years as a biology professor at UNC-Pembroke.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Putty.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Windom Maxwell of the home; a son, James Garfield Suggs II and wife Tiffany of Shelby, NC; two daughters, Robin Perrone and husband Dave of Charlotte, NC and Vivian Suzanne Britt and husband Michael of Orrum, NC; four grandchildren: Chelsea Suggs, Austin Suggs, Haleigh McClure, and Elizabeth Parker; one great-grandson, Aislan McClure; three step-grandchildren: Braxton Britt, Austin Cartee, and Boone Cartee; and a brother, Ronald Brown Maxwell and wife Judy of Killen, AL.

The family of Dr. David Maxwell deeply appreciates and gratefully acknowledges your kind expressions of sympathy. Your tributes to the memory of David have brought us much comfort. There are those whose lives death cannot diminish. Their love radiates forever in the hearts of family, friends and colleagues. We felt that love in your thoughtfulness as you shared your memories and experiences with us.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at 1:00 PM at Whorton Springs Cemetery in Smithville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family would cherish donations to a scholarship to be announced at a later time by the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Lora Ann Chapman

March 20, 2020

Mrs. Lora Ann Chapman, age 55 of Liberty, TN passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Lora was born October 4, 1964 in Carthage, TN to her parents, the late Perry Stockling & Opal Haynes Ashburn. Her husband, Jimmy Wayne Chapman also precedes her in death. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Chapman’s family has chosen direct cremation. No services are planned at this time.

Survivors include her Daughter, Julie Murphy & Michael Vandyne of McMinnville, TN. 3 Sons, Timothy Chapman & Johnny Chapman both of Liberty, TN & Jerry Chapman of Smithville, TN. 7 Grandchildren, Anthony Murphy, Lucus Murphy, Jonathon Chapman, Sapharie Chapman, Harmony Chapman, Michele Johnson & Mckenzie Vandyne. 4 Sisters, Carolyn Roberts of Carthage, TN, Vernie McCullough of Hillham, TN, Dorothy (Tommy) Duggin of Dowelltown, TN & Beth Delk of Sparta, TN. 2 Brothers, Tommy (Jackie) Stockling & Jerry Stockling all of Smithville, TN. Special Niece, Natasha (Franklin) Figgins. Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.

John Keith Hale

John Keith Hale age 40 of Smithville passed away Thursday March 12, 2020 at his residence. He was born January 31, 1980 to his parents, John Henry Hale and Brenda Arnold Robinson. He was a supervisor and attended Linwood Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by Grandparents: Henry & Ruby Hale & Grandfather: Billy Joe Arnold, Sr. Funeral Services will be held 4 P.M. Friday March 20, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 4 P.M. In addition to his parents, survivors also include Sister: Cassandra Robinson of Watertown; Half-brother: Terry Hale of Smithville; Grandmother: Ella (Tommy) Hale of Smithville; Several Aunts, Uncles & Cousins also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Misty Renee Tatrow

March 18, 2020

Misty Renee Tatrow age 40 of Smithville passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 at St. Thomas West Hospital. She was born January 10, 1980 to her parents, the late Kevin Dale Tatrow & Andrea Skelton. She was a manager at McDonald’s in Murfreesboro and a Baptist. In addition to her parents, Misty was also preceded in death by Grandparents: Robert & Eva Lois Tatrow; Grandfather: Freddie Moore; Uncles: Danny Tatrow & James Tatrow. The family has chosen direct cremation. The Memorial Service For Misty has been postponed due to the Coronavirus and the Governor’s Executive Order 17, NO GATHERINGS of more than 10 people. The Service Will Be Scheduled For A Later Date And Will Be Announced Once It Has Been Scheduled. Survivors include: 2 Children: Tiana Renee Veasman and Matthew Steele both of Florida; 1 Grandchild: Saturn Brannen; Sister: Kimberly Dale Tatrow of TN.; 2 Brothers: Christopher Lattimore of Carthage & Josh (Lindsey) Isaac of Smithville; Grandmother: Betty (Kenny) Laboe of Smithville; Aunts & Uncles: Laurel (Dennis) Jenkins, Shelby (Frank) Lawrence, Mary Jo (Corky) Britt, Claudia Tatrow, Amy (Brian) Cravens, Bucky Tatrow & Keith Tatrow all of Smithville; Several cousins; Special cousins: Lisa Foster, Stephanie Gandy, Valerie (Wesley) Slager; Special uncle: RJ Bain and FiancĂ©: Tim. Pastor Cleo Sanders

March 17, 2020

Pastor Cleo Sanders, age 71 of Smithville was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Cleother Sanders was born on July 10, 1948 in Hernando, MS to Willie & Elnora Sanders. Cleo accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in 1975 under the leadership of Lee Roy Echoles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Felix Sanders, 4 sisters, Eloise Patton, Annette, Mammie and Norell Sanders. Brother, Robert Crystap.

Cleo was the pastor of Grace Bible Church from 1979 until February 2020. He was an animal lover, especially dogs & pigeons. He also had cows, sheep, goats and had a great passion for fishing as well. Cleo was loved by many and never met a stranger.

Funeral Services for Cleo Sanders will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11am from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Pastor Burchron Walker will officiate and burial will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 20th from 4pm-7pm and on Saturday, March 21st from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am.

Cleo will forever be missed and cherished by his Wife, Mary Nimmons Sanders of Smithville. 4 Sons, Cleother (Jamie) Sanders Jr. of McMinnville, Eric (Elisabeth) Sanders of Colorado, Micah (Jennifer) Sanders of Smithville, Frankie Kelsor Jr. of Dibrell. 3 Daughters, Elizabeth Sanders of Nashville, Triniti & Kara Kelsor of Smithville. Brother, Willie & Julia Sanders, Jr. of Dayton, TN, 6 Sisters, Josephine Blair & Norma McNeal both of GA, Ida (Jesse) Westbrook of IL, Clementine Williams of Smithville, Brenda (Chauncy) Felix of MS, Marlo (Ray) Williams of AR. 7 Grand Children, Triniti & Kara Kelsor, Isaiah & Asher Sanders, Erian Sanders, Andrew Johnson, and Madison Pelham. Sisters-in law, Brothers-in-law, other relatives and a host of friends also survive.

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the DeKalb Animal Coalition in memory of Mr. Cleo.
