Billy D. Tisdale

January 12, 2020

80 year old Billy D. Tisdale passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at his residence in Smithville. He was a former construction crane operator and also worked at Moog Manufacturing for 17 years. He was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church.

Visitation with the Tisdale family will be on Sunday, January 12th and Monday, January 13th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Brian Jones will officiate and burial will be in the Petty Cemetery.

Mr. Tisdale was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert Odell and Martha Jane Linder Tisdale; a son, Steve Tisdale; and a sister, Darlene Tisdale. He is survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Lera Petty Tisdale of Smithville; children, Billy W. and Angela Tisdale, Michael and Sandra Tisdale and Bobby Tisdale, all of Smithville, and Debra and Brent Bynum of Cookeville; grandchildren, Amy and Chad Hill, Joey and Anglina Tisdale, Brandon Colwell, Codey Tisdale, Brandi (Nick) Patterson, Riley Bullard, and Zachary Tisdale; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Tisdale and Ann Tisdale of Lebanon; brothers, Jr. Tisdale and Bobby Tisdale of Lebanon and Ricky Tisdale of Carthage.

In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International in memory of Mr. Tisdale.

Harold Gene Blackwell

January 12, 2020

70 year old Harold Gene Blackwell of Sparta passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of the New Hope The Baptist Church in White County. He served his country in the United States Army and was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 13, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Garry McBride will officiate and burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery in White County with military honors.

Mr. Blackwell was preceded in death by his parents, William Carson and Jessie Estelle Griffin Blackwell; a son, Scottie Gene Blackwell; a brother, Billy Blackwell; and three sisters, Eva Nell Graham, Jeanette Blackwell, and Joann Blackwell. Survivors include one son, Russell Blackwell of Smithville; two brothers, Wayman and Linda Blackwell of McMinnville and Jerry and Charlene Blackwell of Nashville; four sisters, Janice and Willie Miller of Sparta, Inetta and Ron Taylor of Smithville, Wanda Troglen of Sparta, and Brenda and Scott Fullerton of Lebanon; grandchildren, Kerra Blackwell, Scottie Blackwell, Jordan Blackwell, and Emily Matthews. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Jimmy L. Kimbrell

January 12, 2020

Jimmy Kimbrell, age 75, of Dowelltown, TN passed from this life to his heavenly home on January 11, 2020.

Jimmy was born on September 12, 1944 in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Lawrence and Maggie Kimbrell and grew up in the Iron City community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Woodrow and Louise Frazier, brothers-in-law, John Larry and Joe Ronald “Ronnie” Frazier, his sister-in-law, Billie Ann Frazier, his nephew, Ronald Frazier, and great nephew, Ryan Frazier.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Frazier Kimbrell, his daughter, Monica (David) Reynolds and grandchildren, Levi and Molly Reynolds, his sister, Judy Ann (Steve) Beard, sisters-in-law, Peggy (Carroll) Thomas, Deborah (Wayne “Buddy”) Fuson, Kathy (Ricky) Hendrix, Lisa (Jerald) Cripps, Rita Fuson-Frazier. He is also survived by his aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, special great nieces Elizabeth and Olivia Miller, great nephews, and cousins. He leaves with cherished memories a host of fishing and traveling companions.

“Pop” Jimmy taught us to put God first – always, love, be kind and to always find the humor in everything. The glass is always half full and these things that occur in this life are all “part of the journey”.
Jimmy graduated from Loretto High School in 1962. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve for 6 years and worked at TRW in Lebanon for many years where he later retired.

He was a faithful member of Dry Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. Throughout the years, he also served on various committees within the church, and for many years was in charge of managing the food services for the Wednesday night meals. He dearly loved his family, church family and friends.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the many visitors over the past few months and Avalon Hospice personnel for their compassionate and professional care.

Visitation will be held at DeKalb Funeral Chapel from 12 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1: p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens officiating and burial following in the nearby Frazier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Dry Creek Baptist Church children’s music program or Gideon’s International.

Judy Ann Anderson

January 12, 2020

70 year old Judy Ann Anderson of Smithville passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at NHC of Smithville. She was a factory worker, formerly employed at Tenneco and Smithville Manufacturing. She was a member of the New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation with the Anderson family will be on Wednesday, January 15th, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 16th, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Lee Hale and Bro. Shannon Cantrell will officiate and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

Ms. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Austin Peay and Mandy Edna Pedigo Vaughn, and one sister, Johnnie Lois Clemmons. She is survived by her son, Eddie and Lisa Anderson of Smithville; grandchildren, Emilee Anderson, Elisha and Donny Orchard and Michael, all of Smithville; sisters, Jackie and Michael Jones, Patricia McCormick, and Peggy and Kenneth Cantrell, all of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to flowers, donations may be made in Ms. Anderson’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Georgia Fay Nixon

January 9, 2020

Ms. Georgia Fay Nixon, age 76, of Alexandria, TN, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

Ms. Nixon was born March 2, 1943, a daughter of the late George C. Nixon and Mary Frances Oakley Nixon. She was a graduate of Liberty High School. She worked at shirt factories for 40 years until her retirement. After retiring, she worked at the Dekalb West Cafeteria for 15 years. She was a longtime member of the Malone’s Chapel Baptist Church. Ms. Fay loved craftwork, flowers and gardening, and cooking for her family and church.

Ms. Nixon is survived by Two Brothers; Roger (Sherry) Nixon of Thompson Station, TN, and Tony (Tina) Nixon of Alexandria, TN. Two Nieces; Shanea (Josh) Cantrell of Smithville, TN, and Katie Nixon of Alexandria, TN.

Funeral Services for Ms. Nixon are scheduled to be conducted at the Avant Funeral Home at 2PM on Friday, January 10, 2020 with Bro. Jason Rich officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery.

Visitation with the Family will be at the Avant Funeral Home on Thursday from 12PM until 8PM and on Friday from 9AM until service time at 2PM.

The family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Malone’s Chapel Baptist Church.




Judy Houk Pollard

January 9, 2020

74 year old Judy Houk Pollard passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. View The Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be at the Love-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel on Friday from noon until 9:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.  Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Houk, her parents, James and Elizabeth Miller and a sister, Annell Summers. She is survived by her husband, Robert Pollard of Smithville; one son, Timothy and Cynthia Houk of Smithville; step-sons, Jason Pollard and Jamie Pollard of Smithville; step-daughter, Ronica and Brad Evans of Smithville; grandchildren, April Warren of McMinnville and Joshua and Robin Warren of Smithville, Brady Evans of Pennsylvania and Neely Evans of Smithville; great grandchildren, Michael Warren, Stevie Banfield, Michaela Banfield, Savanna Warren and Owen Warren; brother, Reed Miller of Smithville; nephews, Bradley Miller of Watertown and Brandon and Becky Miller of Smithville; and great nephews, Jordan and Mason Miller of Watertown.
