Delmar Doak Taylor. Jr.

Delmar Doak Taylor. Jr., 83, of Louin, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. He was born Monday, December 14, 1936, in Smithville, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi, and on Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

Graveside services and interment will be 11: AM Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Whorton Springs Cemetery in Smithville, Tennessee, with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Bro. Jeff Martin and Bro. Nathan Yates will officiate.

Mr. Taylor was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church. He served our country in the United States Navy for twelve years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was a life member of ASHRAE Society. He was an active member of Pineville Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed riding his horses and mules, spending time on his tractor, and most of all spending time with his family that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar Doak, Sr. and Lillian F. Taylor; one son, Jeffrey Austin Taylor; one daughter, Sherri Gayle Taylor; and one brother, Donald Green Taylor.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years Christina G. Taylor of Clear Springs Community in Smith County, Mississippi; three sons, Christopher Taylor (Barbara), Gary Taylor (Carmen), and Greg Taylor (Melissa) all of Brandon; eight grandchildren, David Taylor (Amy), Cory Taylor (Amanda), Daniel Taylor (Heather), Andy Taylor (Holly), Nikki Miles (Adam), Logan Taylor, Sydney Taylor, and Austin Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Noah Taylor, Emma Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Bailee Taylor, Ben Taylor, and Colt Miles; a host of other family members and friends.

Joyce D. Bogle

February 28, 2020

Joyce D. Bogle age 66 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday night, February 26, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born February 28, 1953 in Cookeville to her parents, the late Horace and Eurlean Whitehead Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Bogle; daughter, Kayla Cantrell; 7 siblings, Sally Phillips, Mildred Allen, Euwell Jackson, John Rittenberry, Joyce Rittenberry, Helen Lezenby and Elvyon Downs. She was a factory worker and loved her chihuahuas. Survivors include 2 sons, Mike Hughes and Kevin Bogle both of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Heather (Jesse) Bradford of Smithville, Kaleb Bogle of Sparta, Paige and Austin Cantrell both of Alexandria; 1 great-grandchild, Hinkley Bradford; 2 sisters, Reba Shoemake of Gordonsville and Francis Craigmile of GA; Paul Jackson of Flat Rock; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale and her family officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation with the family will Saturday 2 P.M. until 7 P.M. and Sunday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel, in memory of Ms. Joyce. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Jeffery Lynn Knowles

Mr. Jeffery Lynn Knowles, age 60 of Nashville passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Tri Star Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville.

Jeffery was born July 7, 1959 in Smithville to his parents, Faye Cantrell Robinson and the late Cleston “Peel” Knowles. Also preceding him in death is his step father, Jim Robinson & a brother-in-law, David Hanes. Jeffery was formerly employed with B&P Ice Company as a Serviceman and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 1pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 2pm – 8pm & on Friday from 10am until service time at 1pm.

Survivors include his Mother, Faye Cantrell Robinson of Nashville. 3 Brothers, Jason Knowles of Smithville, Chad Knowles of Smithville, James Butler of Nashville. 3 Sisters, Anita & Anthony Hendrix of Smithville, Paula Hanes of Smyrna, Mary Ann & Kenny Gann of Pleasant View. Step Mother, Rose Knowles of Smithville. 2 Step Brothers, T.D. & Jeff Thomason both of Smithville. 4 Step Sisters, Roseann Certain, Pamela Turner, Barbara Neal & Sandra Petty all of Smithville. Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins also survive.

Billy Odell Eldridge

Billy Odell Eldridge, age 62 of Lebanon passed away February 23, 2020 at his residence.

He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Karen “Sissy” Eldridge; son, Joshua Mack Eldridge; parents, Thomas Martin and Betty Eliza Eldridge; sister, Mary Ann Brady; fathers-in-law, Jerry Callis and Johnny Hale; and brothers-in-law, Loyd Daniels and James Williams Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Elaine Eldridge; sons, Daniel Odell Eldridge, Billy Dewayne (Renee) Eldridge, and Brandon Martin (Lindsey) Eldridge; step-son, Brian “Woody” (Ashley) Holycross; daughter, Carrie (Steven) Seay; Brothers, Arlon (Sonya) Eldridge, Ray (Elaine) Eldridge, Thomas Camel, Ernest B. Eldridge, and Junior Eldridge; sisters, Ruby Roberts, Margaret Brady, and Christine Baine; grandchildren, Karen Rebecca Eldridge, Buck Eldridge Jr., Austin John Eldridge, Carter Rylan Eldridge, McKinsley René Eldridge, Lola Jade Moss, Kimberly Faith Moss, Lanie Belle Eldridge, Joshua Dante Eldridge, and Jason Jerome Gleaves as well as many other loving family members. Mr. Eldridge was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses throughout his life including Eldridge & Son’s Concrete Co. and Big O’s Concessions. He was also a member of the Family Baptist Church in Lebanon.

Visitation for Mr. Eldridge will be held Tuesday, February 25th from 4-7 P.M. and Wednesday, February 26th from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM at Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon. Bro. Randall Brady will officiate the services and interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Michael Lynn Adcock

Michael Lynn Adcock age 43 of Bradyville passed away Monday Feb. 17th at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Michael was a Self-Employed Nurseryman, and attended the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his Mother Sandra Houk, Grandfather Austin Braswell, Grandmother Maggie Braswell, and Grandfather Harold Adcock. Survivors include his Father Larry and Loretta Adcock, Brother Anthony and Tammi Adcock all of Smithville, Sister Amy Beth Gunter, Nephews Devin Gunter and Trey Tribble all of Bradyville, Nephew Jonathon Adcock, Grandmother Sara Adcock all of Smithville, Uncle Douglas and Dawn Adcock of Murfreesboro, Special Friends Michael and Crystal Judkins of Smithville, Darrell and Penny Judkins of Woodbury

There will be a Graveside Service Tuesday, Feb. 25th at 11AM at Corinth Cemetery in the Belk Community. Bro. Nathan Thomason will officiate. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Eddie “Ed” Atnip

February 22, 2020

Mr. Eddie “Ed” Atnip, age 60 of Smithville passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 22nd at his residence.
Eddie was born November 19, 1959 in Lebanon to his parents, Roscoe & Reba Lonell Anderson Atnip. He was formerly employed at Tennaco and attended the Peoples Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 6pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, Feb. 23rd from 10am until the service time at 6pm.

Mr. Atnip was preceded in death by his Father, Roscoe Atnip and a brother, Randy Atnip. Survivor include his Mother: Reba Atnip of Smithville. Children: Adam Atnip, Jason Atnip, and Charlie Atnip of Putnam County, Amanda and Jonathon Rice of DeKalb County, Randi and Jimmie Dossett of Wilson County. Grandchildren: Fantasia Atnip of Indiana, Braylyn Rice and Lailynn Rice of DeKalb County, Zayden Dossett of Wilson County, and Adalynn Atnip of Putnam County. Brothers: RJ and Susie Atnip of Murfreesboro, Jerry and Betty Atnip, Ricky and Ally Atnip, Teddy and Lorrie Atnip, Freddy and Vickey Atnip, and Michael and Amy Atnip, all of Smithville. Sisters: Lou Dean Murphy of Murfreesboro, Rose Atnip and Ernie, Mary Roller, and Racheal Mabe and Aron, all of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
