Kenneth Dwayne Goodson

January 17, 2021

Kenneth Dwayne Goodson age 47 of Liberty, passed away Wednesday January 13, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1973 in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Mary and Tilman Campbell; 2 brothers, Darrell and Eric Goodson; step-sister, Brenda Campbell. He was a Baptist and worked as a used car salesman. Dwayne is survived by 2 aunts, Joyce Dean Poss of Smithville and Charlene Allmon of Lebanon; 2 step-sisters, Stacy and Sandy; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 3 PM Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 3 PM. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines, please exercise social distancing for the health and safety of everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Henrietta Hale

Henrietta Hale age 97 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon January 14, 2021 at the Webb House. She was born November 16, 1923 to her parents, the late William Henry and Flossie Parsley Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hale; 4 sisters, Stella Smithson, Trudie Vickers Patterson, Evelyn Love Ervin and Inez Love; 1 brother, Jack Young and several nieces and nephews. Henrietta was a faithful member of New Life United Pentecostal Church. She owned Smithville Dress Shop for about 60 years, was a longtime member of the Smithville BP & W Club, former member of the Smithville/DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Downtown Merchants Association. Henrietta loved her community and wanted to see it flourish and grow. She was a lady that loved her family, enjoyed fixing a meal for a guest, and was a very active and independent woman. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Kimberly Hale Robbins of Smithville; 2 grandsons, Grant (Sarah) Robbins of Jackson, TN and Clark Robbins of Nashville; nieces, Ruth (Dan) Stirneman, Barbara Christian, Treva (Stanley) Hunt, Jackie Kay (John) Dodson, Regina Sadler, Kathy Wood (Mike) Varni, Jeanette Smithson, Melba Wood and Pete; nephews, Kent (Barbara) Smithson, Tim and Mark Young, Wayne (Cheryl) Wood, Larry (Sue) Taylor and Dudley Taylor and lots of cousins. Funeral services celebrating her life will be 11:AM Saturday January 23, 2021 at New Life United Pentecostal Church with Bros. Dwayne Cornelius, Dan Stirneman, Michael Hale and her grandson, Grant Robbins officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Friday 3 PM until 6 PM and Saturday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. WJ Page

January 16, 2021

Mr. WJ Page, age 85 of Alexandria, TN passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon, TN.

WJ was born on May 19, 1935 in Watertown, TN to his parents, the late Cecil & Ivy Judkins Page. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Barbara Cantrell Page. 2 Sisters, Wilma Parkerson & Mildred Page. 2 Brothers, Hobert Page & Lionel Page. WJ was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon, TN. He served as a Military Policeman in the Army National Guard. As a young man, WJ attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music where he developed his love for singing gospel music at a young age. Over the next 50 plus years WJ and his family, the Page Family, would sing in churches and gospel singings all over the area. He was a Song Leader, Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon in church over the many years he served the Lord. He was a Supervisor at Work Wear Corp. in Alexandria most of his life and later retired from S&W Manufacturing.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12 Noon from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Glen Denton & Bro. Mike Shelby will officiate with burial to follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2-6pm & on Monday from 10am until the service time at 12 Noon. Due to Covid 19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are not accepting food in our kitchen facilities at this time.

Survivors include his Children, Denise Page, Daryl & Renee Page, & Darrin Page all of Smithville, TN, and Jamie & Melissa Page of Gallatin, TN. Grandchildren, Jared & Jamie Lyn Dawson, Leslie Brook Page, Johnathan Page & Fiance’ Makencie Locke all of Smithville, TN, and Alyssa Page of Gallatin, TN. Gene Groves

Mr. Gene Groves, age 72 of Smithville, TN passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Thomas Riverpark Hospital in McMinnville, TN.

Gene was born on January 1, 1949 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late George & Delmer Martin Groves. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Judy Groves. 2 Children, Carl Groves & Tina Serna. Grandson, Damon Groves and a sister, Gracie Killough. He was a Nurseryman and was retired from the Sanitation Dept. of DeKalb County. Mr. Gene was of the Church of Christ faith.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12 Noon at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Robbie Black officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30am until 11:30am at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home at which time the body will be taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are not accepting food in our funeral home kitchen at this time.

Survivors include a Daughter, Ola Regina (Sam) Johnson of Morrison, TN. 2 Granddaughters, Harley Richardson of Morrison, TN and Alysia Groves of McMinnville, TN. Grandson, Deven Groves of McMinnville, TN & 5 Great Grandchildren. Brother, Robert Groves of Smithville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses in memory of Mr. Groves.

Sam Odom

January 15, 2021

80 year old Sam Odom of Smithville died Friday at NHC of Smithville. He was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church, a retired pastor, farmer, mule skinner and former member of the DeKalb County Board of Education. Mr. Odom’s request was to have a private graveside service at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Jack Patterson will officiate. No visitation will be held. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Mildred Mangum Odom, sister, Dorothy Jean Gresham; brother, William Carl Odom; and son-in-law Greg Ray. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Billie Ann Odom. Four children, Marica Odom Sandlin, Shayne and Jamie Odom, and Jonathan and Sonya Odom all of Smithville and Amanda Odom Ray of Clarksville. Nine grandchildren, Ashley Odom Williams, Shandi Sandlin, Josh Odom all of Smithville, Jake Odom of Murfreesboro, Chris Odom of Smithville, Dillion Brown of Nebraska, Grace Odom of Smithville and Nicholas and Allie Ray of Clarksville. Sister, Reba Draiman of Florida. Brother, Phillip Odom of Nashville. Also survived by several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




William Hayden James Pugh

January 15, 2021

We lost our angel William Hayden James Pugh, stillborn January 7, 2021 at Centennial Women’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. Baby William is preceded in death by his grandparents Tommy and Lisa Pugh, his grandpa Aubrey Meece and great-aunt Linda Stienmark. Little William is survived by his twin brother Thomas Hunter Pugh his five brothers and sisters Koby Howard, Ceanna Howard, Alvictor Jr., Mercy Weir and his grandmother Joann Meece as well as lots of loving, and caring cousins. Graveside services will be 1 PM Tuesday January 19, 2021 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 1 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
