Terry Jane Duggin Converse

Terry Jane Duggin Converse was taken to her heavenly home on March 30, 2021 at the age of 65 following a brief illness. She went peacefully with her two sons by her side holding her hands.

Terry was a loving wife and devoted mother. She spent her life in Nashville. She attended Hillsboro High School and Middle Tennessee State University before dedicating herself to motherhood and her family. Possessing a sharp intelligence, compassionate heart, and unceasingly strong spirit, she is cherished by her family and infinitely adored by her two boys.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. R.E. Bratten and Mr. & Mrs. Paul Duggin. She is survived by her husband, David (former leader of the Nashville Jazz Machine), children, Patrick and Andrew, parents, Jack & Mary Duggin & a sister, Jennifer Gholson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2pm at Salem Baptist Church in Liberty, TN. Bro. Ray Gilder will officiate with burial following at Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 4-7pm and on Friday from 11am until the service time at 2pm. All visitation and services will be held at Salem Baptist Church, address: 483 West Main St. Liberty, TN 37095. If you wish to send flowers, please have them sent directly to the church.

Gail Jones Becker

March 31, 2021

Gail Jones Becker age 49 of Manchester and a native of Smithville, passed away Monday evening March 29, 2021 at St. Thomas West Hospital of complications from Covid. She was born February 27, 1972 to her parents, Virginia Thomason Jones and the late James Arnold Jones. Gail was a graduate of DeKalb County High School and was a clerical worker at the Hospital. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Manchester on Main Street. Gail leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Wesley Becker of Manchester; 2 children, Adam Matthew Cubbins of Smithville and Rebecca Jean Becker of Manchester; mother, Virginia Jones of Smithville; 2 sisters, Sue (Noel) Martin of Cookeville and Deborah Browning of Smithville; several nephews, aunts and cousins. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday April 1, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Allen Adams and Darrell Gill officiating and burial will follow in Jones Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The funeral home pews are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




James Lynn Owen

March 31, 2021

James Lynn Owen age 46 of Smithville, passed away Monday evening March 29, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. He was born October 18, 1974 to his parents, James Owen and the late Cheryl Phaup Owen. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Owen. He attended the Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church as a child and worked as a handyman. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Owen of Smithville; 2 children, Christian Owen and Haylea Owen both of Smithville; father, James Owen of Smithville; sister, Ashley Owen of Smithville; nephew, Colton Owen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Kathy Cannon of Rock Island; sister-in-law, Jackie Hildreth and brother-in-law, Jeremy (Melissa) Cannon of McMinnville. Graveside services and interment will be 3:30 PM Thursday, April 1, 2021 at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in memory of James Lynn. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Patricia (Pat) Ann “Young” Sain

March 26, 2021

Patricia (Pat) Ann “Young” Sain, 83 has gone to be with the Lord, her beloved husband as well as many other family members.

Patricia was born in Sparta, Tennessee on December 11, 1937, and left this earth on March 25, 2021. She lived in Hermitage, TN for most of her life and passed due to an extended illness. She was a devoted wife and mother. She had a large family whom she loved and was loved by everyone. Patricia was the youngest, surviving, of six siblings.

Patricia enjoyed her family, friends, and the time spent in taking care of her family. She was a longstanding member of Lakewood Baptist Church where her husband (James Donald) was the minister of music for many years.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Ann Bullington, son Jon T. Sain (Bonnie), Grandchildren – Daniel Bullington (Sarah), Cori Gaines (Ryan), and Gatlyn Sain. Great-grandchildren – Kingston, Norah, Eastland, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband James Donald Sain, mother and father Loretta & Haskell Young, siblings, Haskell Eugene Young, James Morris Young, Betty Sue (Young) Herndon, Joy (Young) Leighty, Joan (Young) Fitts.

Graveside Services and entombment will be on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 2pm at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home from 12noon until 1:45pm. We are not accepting food in our kitchen facilities at this time.

Christy Jean Cunningham Martin

Christy Jean Cunningham Martin age 36 passed away at her residence in Smithville on March 24, 2021. She was born November 7, 1984 to her parents, Troy Allen Lee Cunningham and Pamela Jean Barrett. She worked as an telemarketer and a waitress. She is survived by her children, Isaac Martin of Smithville, Allie Evans of Murfreesboro and Zaylyn Anderson of Smithville; companion, Steven Anderson of Smithville; father, Troy (Sandra) Cunningham of Union City; mother, Pamela Barrett of Smithville; brother, Troy Cunningham, Jr. of Smithville; sister, Amber Cunningham of Dresden, TN. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Davey Horton officiating. Visitation will be Monday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. The family asked that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in memory of Christy. Billy Joe Hill

March 24, 2021

Billy Joe Hill age 83 passed away March 23, 2021 at St. Thomas Highland in Sparta. He was born February 21, 1938 to his parents the late John Jefferson and Jessie Ervin Hill. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Dee Hill; son, Jeff Hill; sister, Betty Sue Gora; brother, Clarence Ervin. He was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and worked in factories. He is survived by daughter, Tammy Hill of Sparta; special daughter, Misty Wilson of Sparta; grandchildren, C. J. Hill, Jarrett Hill, Maggie Hill, Emma Hill; sister, Bobbye Ruth Pack of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews also survive. Graveside services will be 1 PM Friday March 26, 2021 at Mt. Holly Cemetery with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating and burial to follow. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery, there will be not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
