Betty J. Fisk

A beautiful angel has gained her wings… Betty J. Fisk age 67 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family. Betty was born on November 16, 1953 to Robert and Robbie Fisher in her life long town of Smithville, TN. She graduated from DeKalb County High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. It was during this time she met and then married Lee Fisk. Soon after, on September 21, 1979 they welcomed her pride and joy, James Robert Fisk. Betty spent the next several years working and caring for her family. For almost a decade Betty has helped mold the minds of the next generation as a teacher for Special Ed at DeKalb County High School. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Robbie Fisher as well as her brother, Jerry Fisher. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Lee Fisk of Smithville; son, James Fisk; grandchildren, Kahele, Kavaughn, and Maddy; great-grandchild, Kahele, Jr.; brother, Sammy Fisher of Smithville; 2 sisters, Linda Ramsey and Carolyn Battle of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews also survive. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who were blessed to have known her. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Burnes Lyons officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. There will be a wake on Friday, May 28, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and a reviewal will be on Saturday 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Due to COVID-19, the funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Kimberly Annice King

May 28, 2021

Ms. Kimberly Annice King, age 61 of McMinnville, TN passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her residence.

Ms. King was born on December 27, 1959 in Nashville, TN to her parents, the late Willie Sherrill & Patricia Donnell Hobson. Also preceding her in death are 2 Brothers, Krieloen Sherrill & Roger Sherrill. She was a Homemaker & a member of the Northside Church of Christ.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 3pm at the Baker’s Cemetery in Smithville, TN.  There will be no visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery just prior to the 3pm service.

Survivors include 2 Sons, John (Brittany) Clark of Murfreesboro, TN & Patrick (Deborah) Clark, Sr. of Nashville, TN. Grandson, Patrick Clark Jr. of Nashville, TN. Brother, Shawn Hobson of Cookeville, TN. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Wilma Dale Silcox

Ms. Wilma Dale Silcox, age 67 of Smiths Grove, Kentucky died Tuesday afternoon, May 25 at Bowling Green Medical Center. She is survived by: partner, Gary Bunch of Smiths Grove, KY; children, Randy Silcox and husband Steven Jenks of Murfreesboro, Ronda Johnson and husband Donnie of Smithville; sister, Tracy K. Adams of Hendersonville; 2 grandchildren, Maegan Ashley Self and husband Jacob, Peyton Allen Harris.

Ms. Silcox is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral home where her service will be conducted on Friday afternoon, May 28 at 1:00 PM. Bro. Donnie Key will officiate. Interment in the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Serving as active pallbearers are: Tony Silcox, Chad White, Trey Salisbury, Peyton Harris; honorary pallbearers are: Steven Jenks, Donnie Johnson, Jacob Self.

Visitation will begin on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.

The family has requested memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Rebecca Jane “Beck” Ritchie

May 26, 2021

Rebecca Jane “Beck” Ritchie, of Smithville, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning May 25, 2021, at age 61, surrounded by the love of her family.

Beck was born on October 23, 1959. She was a dedicated nurse working for many years at the Specialty Clinic in Smithville, a Sunday School teacher for 35 years, and a faithful member of New Life United Pentecostal Church.

She married Steven Ritchie of Manchester on July 8, 1988. They enjoyed 33 wonderful years of marriage and together had two children: Seth Ritchie and Amy Lattimore. She was also a very proud “Nonnie” to one granddaughter: Norah Beck Lattimore.

She spent her life shining the love of God on everyone around her. A faithful wife, gentle mama, caring sister, and loyal friend, she loved her family with all her heart. The youngest of seven children, one of her greatest joys was having the whole family together. She cared for her own family with a tender, quiet strength. She loved her pets, long talks with her family and friends, reading her Bible, being outdoors, keeping her granddaughter, and going on simple car drives with Steve just to talk and see the town.

She lived her life purposefully, treating everyday details with precision and care. She always had joy in her heart and a song on her lips, singing praise to God as she went about her day. She loved to laugh. She never lost that laughter or joy during her determined battle against cancer, never complaining or giving up faith. Her children, granddaughter, and husband will always cherish the wonderful memories and wisdom she gave to them.

Beck was preceded in death by her mother, Cloie Gay Caldwell; 2 brothers, Larry Caldwell and Bobby Gay; father-in-law, Virgil Ritchie.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Steve Ritchie of Smithville; 2 children, Seth (Tevya) Ritchie of Maryville and Amy (Jason) Lattimore of Smithville; 1 granddaughter, Norah Beck Lattimore; 2 sisters, Freda (Gene) Lumby of Pierre, SD and Libby (Larry) Gibbs of Smithville; 2 brothers, David (Rita) Caldwell and Wallace (Carolyn) Caldwell both of Smithville; sister-in-law, Jane Gay of Smithville; mother-in-law, Myrtle Ritchie of Manchester; sister-in-law, Linda (Ron) Brandon of Manchester; a host of nieces and nephews and very special friend, Melinda (Johnny) Lattimore of Smithville.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be 1 PM Friday, May 28, 2021, at New Life United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Dwayne Cornelius officiating, and burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Coffee County. Visitation will be Thursday 3 PM until 7 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Friday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM at New Life. Due to Covid-19, the funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Deborah Louise Hayes

May 24, 2021

Deborah Louise Hayes age 68 of Rock Island, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening May 23, 2021 at Hospice of Chattanooga. She was born on November 24, 1952 to her parents, Shirley Ann Moore Wackerman Molchan and the late Robert Richard Wackerman. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robbie Molchan. Debbie was a Business Office Manager. She was a devout Christian woman, serving the Lord with all her heart and soul and was a member of The Upper Room in McMinnville. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 45 years, James Lester Hayes of Rock Island; 3 children, Scott Alan (Amanda Sue) Hayes of Murfreesboro, Eric Richard Hayes of Murfreesboro and Jaime Michelle (Shayne) Whiteaker of McMinnville; 6 grandchildren, Alex Dalton (Kelsey) Hayes of Smithville, Alexis Lee Hayes of Murfreesboro, Allyson Paige Whiteaker of McMinnville, Austin Luke Hayes of Murfreesboro, Kensley Brooke Whiteaker of McMinnville and Alyssa Nicole Hayes of Murfreesboro; mother, Shirley Ann Molchan of Smithville; 4 siblings, Jackie Burhans of Memphis, Rusty Wackerman of Akron, OH, John Molchan of Florida and Todd Molchan of Monterey; father-in-law, Lester Hayes of Sparta and a host of other family and friends. The family is honoring Debbie’s request to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held 3 PM Sunday June 13, 2021 at Outreach Baptist Church with Bros. Donald Vinson and Nathan Thomason officiating. The visitation and gathering will be from 2:30-3 PM and there will be a meal following the Celebration of Life service. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Upper Room church, in memory of Debbie, and those made be made by calling or coming by the funeral home. Sheena Fowler Insco

May 24, 2021

38 year old Sheena Fowler Insco of Watertown died Saturday in a motorcycle crash. She was a pharmacy tech for the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro. The funeral will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Earl Braswell will officiate and burial will follow in the Elrod Cemetery in Sparta. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. She is survived by her parents, Holly and Doris Fowler of Watertown. A sister, Charlotte and Ross Porter of Baxter. A brother, Wendell and Monica Fowler of Carthage. Nephews, Ross Porter of the United States Air Force, and Tyler Foutch and Wesley Fowler both of Carthage. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Milous and Stella Jackson Fowler and Guy and Daisy Young Denson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to your local animal shelter. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
