Doris Marie (Clayborn) Keaton

Doris Marie Keaton age 82 of Smithville passed away Thursday at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. She was born December 26, 1938 to her parents, the late Howard Edgar and Johnnie Irene Malone Clayborn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Bob and Willie Malone, William and Nancy Clayborn. Ms. Doris was a Baptist and enjoyed attending the Smithville Church of the Nazarene and worked at the shirt factory in Alexandria for many years. She leaves to cherish her memory, 5 daughters, Teresa (Edwin) Bogle of Alexandria, Pam Curtis (Tommy) of Smithville , Carol (Lloyd) Holloway of Oak Ridge, TN, Vickie (Jimmy) Woods of Alexandria, and Renee (Bobby) Hale of Liberty; 7 grandchildren, Casey (Joey) Agee, Dustin (Brittany) Bogle, Jodi (Nick) Lester, Brandi (Heath) Womack, Tyler (Ashley) Woods, Bobby Lee (Ciara) Hale and Thomas (Keshia) Hale; 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:30 Saturday October 23, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bobby Lee Hale and Thomas Hale officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:30. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Reggie Joy Houk

Reggie Joy Houk age 82 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday October 20, 2021 at The Webb House in McMinnville. She was born January 11, 1939 in DeKalb County. Ms. Reggie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Houk; mother, Carrie Workman; sister, June Ziegenfuss; grandparents, Jim and Maggie Staley; special uncle that was like a brother, Jimmy Staley; uncle and aunt, John and Thelma Kirraine; mother-in-law, Elsie Houk; brothers-in-law, Earl, Charles, Oliver and Kenneth Houk and Jackie Ervin; sisters-in-law, Kathereen Ervin, Leola Houk and Judy Houk Pollard. She attended the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church and worked in the cafeteria with the school system. She is survived by 2 children, Glendon Houk of Smithville; Joy Houk (James) Raper of Murfreesboro; 3 grandchildren, Whitney Houk, Carlee and Caroline Hall; aunt, Bobbie Staley; niece, Cathy (Gary) Beltz; great-nephew, David Griffith; sister-in-law, Ruth (James) Pirtle and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, October 22, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bernard Houk, Frank Bratcher, Darrell Houk and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Bonham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4 PM until 7 PM and Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, Ms. Reggie’s request was for donations to be made to either the Nashville Rescue Mission or the Animal Shelter. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff of The Webb House in McMinnville for the love and care shown to Ms. Reggie during her stay there. Wilburn “Willie” E. Hobbs

Wilburn “Willie” E. Hobbs age 67, of Lansing, Illinois passed away October 12, 2021 in Illinois. He was born August 5,1954 to his parents the late Harrison and Marie Ratleph Hobbs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Tauber; daughter-in-law, Jessica Hobbs; grandson, Lincoln Hobbs. He served in the United States Marine Corp and he worked as a Bus Mechanic with Illinois School District and later with Pace Transit. He is survived by his wife, Janice Hobbs of Illinois; children, Adam (Lindsay) Hobbs of Georgia, Josh (Daphne) Hobbs of Smithville, and Greg (Natalie) Hobbs of Texas; step-children, Michael (Dongmei) Obrien, Jennifer (Venkat) Venkat, Amy (Jake) Dutton; several grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jack Tauber. The family has honored Mr. Hobbs request to be cremated and an Graveside Memorial Service will be held Monday October 25, 2021 at 5:00PM at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for Graveside Memorial Service at 5:00PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.




Tammy Crips Rhea

October 20, 2021

Ms. Tammy Crips Rhea, age 51, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021 at St. Thomas West in Nashville.

Tammy was born on July 13, 1970 in Smithville, TN to her parents, Melvin Crips, Sr. and Beverly Redmon Crips. She was of the Christian faith.

The funeral will be on Friday, October 22 at 2pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home chapel and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 11am-8pm and on Friday from 9am until the time of service at 2pm.

Tammy loved her family dearly and enjoyed every moment that she got to spend with them, and her favorite place to be was at the beach.

Survivors include 1 son, Cameron Rhea (Chelsie); 1 daughter, Kaitlin Rhea; 2 grandchildren, Asher Castorena and Emersyn Castle; mother, Beverly Redmon Crips; father, Melvin Crips, Sr. (LeeAnn); brothers, Bubba Crips (Tina) and Cody Crips; nephews, Caelin Crips and Landon Crips.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with expenses.

James Patrick Cantrell

October 19, 2021

James Patrick Cantrell, 47, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his home. Patrick was born March 22, 1974 in Smithville, Tennessee the son of Dwight Cantrell and Carol Skinner. On May 30, 1995 he was united in marriage to Catherine Robinson in Gordonsville, TN. Patrick was a jack of all trades; working as a farm helper, an electrician’s assistant, and a stay at home dad among other things. Things he enjoyed were walleye fishing, bow hunting, and his boys say he was a CS Go gamer extraordinaire. Survivors include his wife: Catherine Cantrell, five boys: Eric Cantrell, Cole Cantrell, Seth Cantrell, Alexander Cantrell, Kish Cantrell all of West Liberty, Iowa, parents: Carol & Bernie Washer Alexandria, Tennessee, siblings: Alice (Mike) Wills of Alexandria, TN, , David (Angela) Cantrell Alexandria, TN, Daniel Cantrell Smithville, TN, Nephews & Nieces: Steven Wills, Paige Cantrell, Austin Cantrell, Shane Young, Ethan Cantrell, Ava Cantrell, many cousins, both beloved and distant, friends: Johnny Skinner (cousin), Jason Hale and others. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Graveside services and interment will be 3 PM Thursday October 21, 2021 at Young Bend Cemetery with Family officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 1 PM until 2:45 PM at which time he will be taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. Mary Louise House

Mary Louise House age 91 of Dowelltown passed away Monday morning October 18, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Miss House was born June 13, 1930 to her parents the late Condell and Mary Lillian Close House. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Drucy Mai Midgett, Martha Lee Lamberson, Haley J. House, Frances Miller, Ova Lorene Campbell, Sarah Evelyn Nokes, F. D. House, James Lee House, Robert Lee House. Miss Lou was a Baptist and disabled. She is survived by 3 brothers, Bill (Susan) House of Dowelltown, Carter (Sue) House of Alexandria, and Douglas (Dinah) House of Liberty; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be 1 PM Wednesday October 20, 2021 at Gordonsville Cemetery with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for graveside service at 1 PM. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp, in memory of Miss Lou. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
