Donald Wayne Cantrell age 71 of Smithville passed away Monday April 4, 2022. He was born February 15, 1951 to his parents, the late Ray Donald Cantrell and Leotra and Thaniel Cantrell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Cantrell. Wayne was a member of the Church of Christ and worked in Nursery and an Iron Worker. He is survived by his son, Ray (Sonya) Cantrell of McMinnville; daughter, Betsy Hildreth of Kentucky; grandchildren, Maddie, Bella and Brett Cantrell; several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 4 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 11:30 AM until the time of the service at 4:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. The funeral home lounge is closed and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jeremy Wayne Hallum age 45 of Smithville, passed away Monday night April 4, 2022 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville. He was born September 6, 1976 to his parents, Phyllis Mai Cantrell Hallum and the late Larry Wayne Hallum. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by Maternal Grandfather: Elmus “Tot” Cantrell; Paternal Grandparents: Leonard & Edmonda Hallum. Jeremy was a truck driver and attended Friendship The Baptist Church. Graveside services and interment will be held 1 PM Thursday at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday 11:AM until 12:45PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel, at which time we will leave to go to DeKalb Memorial Gardens for the graveside service. Survivors include: 2 sons: Wesley Hallum, Peyton Hallum both of Smithville; Mother: Phyllis Hallum of Smithville; Sister: Stephanie Crabtree of Woodbury; Maternal Grandmother: Gladys Cantrell of Smithville; Nephews: Conner and Trey Crabtree; Aunt: Suzanne (Bill) Gash of Smithville; Several cousins also survive. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and NO FOOD or DRINKS are allowed in the building. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
John Ford Puckett

Mr. John Ford Puckett, age 66 of Manchester, TN and formerly of Smithville, TN passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at his home in Manchester, TN.
Mr. Puckett was born on February 20, 1956 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Luther Race & Miriam Magdalene Ford Puckett. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Dr. Larry Puckett & Henry Puckett. Mr. Puckett was a retired Iron Worker and attended the Smithville Church of Christ.
A Visitation with the Puckett family will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Smithville Church of Christ from 12pm – 4pm.
Survivors include 3 children, John Luther (Elizabeth) Puckett, Nikki (Brian) Roberts, Michael (Ladonna) Kellis all of Georgia. Grandchildren, Bryan Kellis, John Nelson-Shropshire, Tyler Puckett, Danni Kellis, Marissa Davis, Dalton Davis & Logan Huckeba. Sister-in-law, Nancy Puckett of Woodbury, TN.

Gordon Browning “Brownie” Tittsworth

Gordon Browning “Brownie” Tittsworth age 85 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born in Smithville on June 17, 1936 to his parents, the late Haskel and Maudell Parker Tittsworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Billy Tittsworth, Jane Rawls, Faye Cantrell and Sandra Jones and 3 infant siblings.
Gordon Browning “Brownie” Tittsworth was a very unique and honorable man. His family and church was his most loved things in his life. He was a Deacon at Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church. He loved horses and mules and driving wagons, old westerns and John Wayne movies. He loved people and to talk about all the stories he had growing up, playing football, hauling ice with his homemade goat wagon, working at Bracket Estes grocery store after and before school. He had a paper route at 6 years old. He took care of his mother and sisters. He took on the role of an adult at a very young age. He loved trucks and cars, and always wanted to show off his treasures. Several boys stayed with Brownie and Lillian to learn his discipline and traits. They succeeded in life from what they learned. December 19, 1953 he married Lillian after 6 months, and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage. After 9 years. they had Vivian which was the joy of his eye. They had Vivian which was the joy of his eye. They rode horses together, went on wagon rides, attended church together and many family vacations.
Working 30 years for Community Towel; he met several friends over the 33 counties he worked. If you ever met Brownie, you never forgot him. After retiring from Community Towel, he opened a tire shop at home. Several people supported him along with a little trading he did on the side. It was nothing for him to bring a horse, or goat, or dog home in the laundry trade. Before Covid, he loved going to McDonald’s and discussing the world issues with his men friends. His priority was taking care of his church and yard. He was at peace on the lawn mower until his health began to decline. He loved his great-grandchildren with his whole heart. He would sing, and swing them and teach them many life lessons. He loved Bradley, grandson, as if he was his own. He was always willing to do whatever they wanted to do.
Brownie was known by so many and always throwing his hand up at everyone that passed, whistling as he went along and stopping to check of friends and family. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian Tittsworth of Smithville; daughter, Vivian (Gary) Johnson of Smithville; grandson, Bradley (Kayla) Johnson of Smithville; great-grandchildren, Brownie, Rylee, Levi, Madalyn, Grant and Emmett; sister, Betty T. Hale of VA. Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Judy Cantrell of McMinnville; brother-in-law, Zollie D. Cantrell of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday April 6, 2022 at Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church, 2519 Old Blue Springs Road in Smithville with Elder Paul Violet and Elder Ricky Arnold officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM till 7;00PM and on Wednesday 10:00AM till 11:45 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and 12:15 until the time of the service at 1:00PM at the church. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church, in memory of Brownie. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Julia Mae Lewis

Julia Mae Lewis age 93 of Alexandria, died Saturday morning, April 2, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Murfreesboro. Born Sept. 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Burley and Allie Minnie Owen Hancock and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Clyde Lewis in 2008 and by her sisters, Mary Aline Hayes, Rebecca Ann Hancock and Mary Ann Hancock. Julia is survived by her children, Richard (Betty) Lewis, Marcia (Greg) Denton and Cheryl Lewis; grandchildren, Amanda (Jamie) Huling, Samantha (Matt) Antoniak, Maddie Denton, Lauren (Travis) Ferrell; great grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel and Lexi Maples; nieces and nephews.
Julia worked for many years at Kraft Foods, Norvell Industries and was a homemaker. While her children were in school, she was highly involved in her children’s school activities, including the local PTA as a member and an officer. She loved church and led many different activities, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and annual Christmas programs. She was also an Elder at Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church where she was a member for most of her life.
She enjoyed entertaining her children’s friends in her home, and was well known for her sweet tea, mashed potatoes and pumpkin rolls. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening and a good game of Rook. She genuinely loved people and never met a stranger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. till service time on Tuesday. Interment will be at Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria. The family wishes to thank the employees and administrative staff of NHC in Murfreesboro for outstanding care. Robert Leonard Marcellino

Mr. Robert Leonard Marcellino, age 89 of Michigan, passed away Friday evening, April 1, 2022, at his son’s residence in Smithville.
Mr. Marcellino was born on January 18, 1933 in Fort Plain, New York to his parents, the late James & Beatrice Marcellino. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Ruth Hummel Marcellino, 2 brothers, Lew & Jim, 3 sisters, Carolyn, Betty & Rita, 1 grandchild, Jessica. Mr. Marcellino was a U.S. Army veteran and had an honorable discharge. He was of Christian faith and formerly attended Christ Memorial Reform Church in Michigan.
The family has chose direct cremation and there will be no visitation. Mr. Marcellino will be laid to rest by his beloved wife at Graafschap Cemetery in Holland, MI at a later date.
Survivors include 3 sons, John & Ronda Marcellino of Smithille, David Marcellino of MI and Bob & Tabitha Marcellino of FL. Several grandchildren & great-grandchildren also survive.
