Jerry W. Beshearse

Jerry W. Beshearse age 80 of Smithville, passed away Saturday morning February 5, 2022, at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville. Jerry was born November 15, 1941, to his parents, the late Virgil and Leola Johnson Beshearse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Hendrixson Beshearse; stepfather, Oliver Houk; brother, Ronnie Houk; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Schuyler and Frances Hendrixson; sister-in-law, Lucille Beshearse; brother-in-law, Joe Hendrixson. He was a member of the Short Mountain Church of God and retired from Carrier Corporation. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Ruth Lowery Beshearse of Smithville; sons, Gary (Rita) Beshearse and Terry (Wanda) Beshearse both of Smithville; daughter, Teresa (Darrell) Spencer of Smithville; 1 step-daughter, Deborah (Larry) Kirby of McMinnville; 8 grandchildren, Lacey (Daniel) Foutch, Caleb Spencer, Kandy (James) Culbertson, Allie Beshearse, Amber (Le) Kelsor, Josh (April) Hunt, Amber (Tony) Becker, Jared (Sarah) Kirby; 14 great-grandchildren, Hunter Winne, Emmaline Foutch, J.P. Culbertson, Elleiyah Gurley, River Hunt, Rylan Presley, Braylynn Hunt, Bentley Hunt, Kanzada Hunt, Skylar Becker, Ayla Becker, Alona Becker, Triniti Kelsor and Kara Kelsor; 2 brothers, Gene Beshearse of Florida, Bernard (Anita) Houk of Smithville and 1 sister, Deborah (Danny) Agee of Smithville; 1 sister-in-law, Mertie Lawrence of Smithville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bernard Houk officiating and burial will follow in Banks Cemetery with Bro. Charlie Stanton officiating. Visitation will be Monday 3 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday from 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Timothy Ernest Puckett

February 6, 2022

Mr. Timothy Ernest Puckett, age 58 of Smithville, TN passed away on Tuesday afternoon, February 1, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Puckett was born on May 17, 1963 in Smithville, TN to his parents the late Wilburn & Lois Certain Puckett. Also preceding him in death was his brother- Steve Puckett, sister- Patricia Rowe & Niece- Debbie Rowe. He was a retired tour bus driver for John Anderson and did landscaping. He was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Puckett Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 9am until the time of services at 2pm.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Elizabeth Cantrell Puckett, Brother, Eddie Puckett, Nephew & Nieces- Dwain Rowe, Terry Rowe, Krista Goff, Jake Puckett & Cody Puckett all of Smithville, TN. Brothers-in-law, Robert Rowe of Smithville, TN. Gerry (Beverly) Cantrell & their children, Greg, Brigette and Wendy. Paul Cantrell of Smithville, TN and his children, Nikki, Kylee & Jenna.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tim Puckett Memorial Pet Spay & Neuter fund set up at Dr. Scott Littles office in memory of Mr. Puckett.




Maverick Abel Agee

February 5, 2022

Maverick Abel Agee stillborn infant son of Donny and Stephanie Agee was stillborn on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Hobert “Toby” Agee. In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings, Katie Agee Adams, Austin Agee, Danya Jackson, Kyra Agee, Dallas Agee and Jaxen Agee; grandparents, Judy Agee, Jyll and William Lancaster; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. A special “Thank You” to Linda Robinson for her help during this time. A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Daniel McGuire

February 4, 2022

Daniel “Danny” McGuire age 67, of Smithville passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Centennial Medical Center. He was born January 10, 1955, to his parents the late Dan and Velma Estep McGuire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Della and Sam McGuire and Hobart and Elizabeth Estep; great niece, Brittney Barnes. Mr. McGuire was a member of Outreach Baptist Church, he worked as a truck driver, and was a member of OOIDA Truckers Association. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou McGuire of Smithville; daughters, April Johnson of McMinnville and Angela Magnuson of Smithville; step-daughters, Stephanie Long of McMinnville and Amber Dishman of Smithville; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sister, Peggy (Brownie) Barnes of Smithville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Dustin Clouse and Lois Long. Funeral services will be 2:PM Sunday February 6, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 2:PM till 7:PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. In addition to flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, in memory of Danny. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




David Petty

February 3, 2022

David Petty passed away in Whiteville, TN.  The funeral arrangements for David are incomplete at this time and a complete obituary will be announced later by DeKalb Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Virginia (McGhee) Dempsey

February 3, 2022

Ginger McGee, 68, entered eternal life on the morning of January 29th, 2022, her spirit is carried on by her only child Savanna McGee Dodds and husband Trey Dodds as well as her two cherished grandchildren Isacc Sasser and Kayci Murray.

In life Ginger enjoyed cooking for her family and making her famous fudge. She adored her eleven nieces and nephews and their children. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to cook and bake. Ginger enjoyed gardening and always enjoyed watching her plants grow. She said it was amazing to watch something grow from a seed into a beautiful plant. She took pride in her family. Her door was always open to anyone in need of advice even to the ones who did not want it. If you needed a haircut, she would offer but you would leave bald or fourteen inches shorter than you wanted. She was a great listener and shoulder to cry on. She will forever be missed and always celebrated in honor of her memory.

She is survived by her stepmother Geraldine Pack & her long term companion Luby Pinell, four siblings and spouses Danny & Nancy McGee, Terri & Terry Draper, Brian & Cindy McGee (Boudreaux), and Rita & Bob Moate, her family, and friends from every walk of life.

She is preceded in death by her father George McGee and maternal mother Theodora (Peggy) McGee, brother Sammy McGee, and Aunt Scarlett McGee.

A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held on February 19, 2022.
