A father has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly trying to choke his young son.
38-year-old Dusten Ryan O’Conner of Allen Bend Road, Smithville is under a $30,000 bond and he will be in court December 1.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on October 30 the child reported to staff at school that his father, O’Conner had choked him the night before until he passed out. O’Conner was interviewed and confirmed that he had strangled his son and that the child went limp. The incident was also witnessed by the child’s mother.
When a detective spoke with the child he noted and photographed a mark on the boy’s neck which appeared to be where a fingernail could have dug into his throat.
