Alexandria Police have charged a man with child abuse for allegedly assaulting two juveniles.
38-year-old Jeremy Neal of South Church Street, Alexandria is facing 2 counts of child abuse. Police Chief Travis Bryant said that on December 1, officers were dispatched to Locust Avenue due to a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers spoke with 2 male juveniles who said they had been assaulted. Police confirmed through video footage that a verbal altercation started in the roadway between Neal and the juveniles and that the confrontation became physical when Neal struck the juveniles in the area of head and face. Neal was arrested a short time later at his residence. Bond for Neal was set at $10,000 and his court date is December 14.
37-year-old Alan McMurtry of Brush Creek Highway, Alexandria is charged with manufacture, delivery, or salel of a Schedule I drug (Fentanyl), manufacture, delivery, or sale of a Schedule II drug (Methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license. Chief Bryant sad that on December 2, officers on patrol spotted McMurtry operating a vehicle within the city limits of Alexandria. Knowing that McMurtry’s license were suspended, Police stopped his automobile and deployed the K-9 unit. During the investigation, McMurtry was found in possession of approximately 5 grams of Fentanyl and 15 grams of Methamphetamine. His bond was set as $55,000 and he will be in court December 14.
18-year-old Jacob McCowan of Ward Hollow Road, Alexandria is charged with simple possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana), violation of the light law, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. According to Chief Bryant, on November 18, officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Brush Creek Highway and during the investigation, McCowan was found to be in possession of 4.2 grams of marijuana and he could not provide proof of insurance. His court date is set for December 21.
32-year-old Robert Frazier and 25-year-old Eathan White of West Main Street, Alexandria are charged with simple possession of a schedule VI drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on November 19, officers tracked a lost phone to a residence on West Main Street in Alexandria and while speaking with the residents there police detected a distinct odor of marijuana. During the course of the investigation 7 grams of marijuana and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia were recovered from Frazier and 2 grams of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia were confiscated from White. 46-year-old Andrew Rau, who also lives at the residence, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Their court date is set for December 21.
26-year-old Duvwon Baker of Holly Grove Road, Lascassas is charged with driving on a suspended license. Officers stopped a vehicle on Locust Street for a traffic violation and during the investigation, police learned that Baker’s license were suspended. His court date was set for December 21.
54-year-old Robert (Bobby) Atnip Jr. of South 4th Street, Smithville is charged with manufacture, delivery, and sale of a schedule II drug (Methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on November 20, officers were dispatched to Alexandria Market due to an alarm activation. When officers arrived they spotted a man, Atnip acting suspiciously. While speaking with Atnip, police suspected that he was under the influence. During the investigation officers recovered a case containing two hypodermic needles and a clear straw with crystal residue along with a small folded piece of paper with 0.61 grams of methamphetamine. Atnip’s bond was set at $11,500.
33-year-old Jonathan Rowland of Avant Circle, Alexandria is charged with tampering with evidence and resisting arrest. Chief Bryant said that on November 8, officers on patrol observed a motorcycle traveling on Brush Creek Highway without working lights. Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke with Rowland who had in his possession a baggie containing a clear crystal substance believed to be a narcotic. While the officer was speaking with Rowland, 35-year-old Amanda Rowland pulled up in another vehicle. Jonathan then began to struggle with the officer and threw the baggie into Amanda’s vehicle before telling her to drive off. As the officer attempted to arrest Jonathan, Amanda was ordered to stay but she instead left the scene. She was subsequently arrested and charged with evading arrest and tampering with evidence. Bond for Jonathan and Amanda Rowland was set at $4,000 each.
“During the upcoming holidays, the Alexandria Police Department will be focused on keeping the roadways safe by increasing saturation patrols. We will also be joining the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and other agencies in an effort to reduce traffic related fatalities and reducing impaired drivers on the roadway.
