Polly Marie Gambrell-Wilkins

Polly Marie Gambrell-Wilkins age 80, passed away peacefully Thursday March 6, 2025, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was born in Cookeville, TN July 2, 1944, to her parents the late, Arvil and Noralee Herron Gambrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wilkins; sons, Frankie Wilkins and Eugene Wilkins; grandsons, BJ (Bryan Jesse) and Steven Lack; 2 great-grandchildren Jordan and Kaydence Goines; and her siblings. Ms. Polly was a member of Taylor’s Providence Freewill Baptist Church. After retiring from Redcap Industries in 2002, “Granny” Polly devoted her life to being the backbone of her loving family. She was always there to lend an ear or a helping hand to those who knew and loved her. She was always willing to stop what she was doing and pray for those in need. As a pillar of the community, she was there to ensure that she showed families support in their hours of need; always willing to cook a meal or deliver a dish during times of bereavement or times of celebration. Polly was also known for her famous banana pudding! She gathered her strength to raise her children even when times were tough. Going through the obstacles that gave her strength allowed her to share that strength to help raise and care for other children as well as her grandchildren. Her most famous sayings were, “God is in control and take one day at a time.” She is survived by her daughters Luann Wilkins, Lisa (Richard) Lack, and Donna Landers; son, Matthew (Jennifer) WIlkins; grandchildren, Joey (Rachel) Sheets, Brittney (Bruce) Young, Whittney (Randy) Goines, Camdyn and Coltyn Wilkins and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:AM Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Sam Davis officiating and interment to follow in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM till 7 PM and on Wednesday 9:AM the time of the service at 11:AM. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to a Charity of your choice in memory of Ms. Polly. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Wilkins family.



Robert Dayton West

Mr. Robert Dayton West, age 84, of Alexandria, TN passed peacefully from this life March 4th, 2025.

Robert (Bob) was born November 2, 1940, to A.D. West and Marie Jane Walker West in Clay County, West Virginia. In 1962 Robert married the love of his life Mable Jean Mullins and together took on life. They had many adventures together starting in Cleveland, Ohio where Bob was a steel worker and auto mechanic. Later they moved their family to West Virginia where Bob worked driving trucks for coal mines.

Eventually Bob moved the family to Smithville, TN where Bob put himself through school to become a successful certified electrician at DuPont in Old Hickory, TN. Bob and Mable had 5 children, Rosetta, Wanda, Albert, and the twins Frank and Charlotte. Bob is also survived by a sister Virginia Ferrebee.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling the United States, and working on various vehicles with his sons.
Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, A.D. West and Marie West, his wife Mable, and youngest daughter Charlotte, sister Emma Pearl Brown.

He was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church and was a born-again Christian. He will always be remembered as a strong working man who loved and provided for his family as well as anyone else he could help.

A graveside service will be held at the Hillview Memorial Cemetery at 2pm March 7th, 2025, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife Mable and his daughter Charlotte, with Rev. Dennis Croslin presiding.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers all contributions be left for Robert West to Avant Funeral Home, 109 High Street, Alexandria, TN, 37012 to cover funeral expenses.



Beverly Ann Jones

Beverly Ann Jones, age 80, of Smithville, passed away on March 6, 2025, at her residence. Born on January 22, 1945, in Woodbury, TN, she was the daughter of the late John and Julie Ellen Hendrixson Tittsworth. Beverly was a retired employee of Timers, of the Baptist faith, and an Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Calvin Jones; her son, James Brian Jones; and her sisters, Hazel Haynes and Shelby Tittsworth.

Beverly is survived by her devoted daughters, Tamera (Brad) Vaughn of Lebanon and Pam Baumann of Smithville; her grandchildren, Brian Baumann of Smithville, Ashely (James) Smith of Mt. Juliet, and Allen Ivey of Mt. Juliet; and her great-grandchildren, who were the loves of her life, Anniston Ivey, Preston Smith, and Madison Smith, all of Mt. Juliet. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Susan Young of Smithville, several special nieces and nephews, and her special friend and caretaker, Elizabeth Smith.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Caris Healthcare, especially Corey, Kendall, and Felicia, for their love and care.

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from noon until 8 and on Sunday from 11 until the time of service at 2, with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
In addition to flowers, the family requests that donations be made at the funeral home to Shriners Children Hospital in Beverly’s memory.
