Wayne Scott

April 13, 2024

Wayne Scott age 68, of McMinnville passed away April 5, 2024, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born December 9, 1955, to his parents the late Everett and Barbara Nale Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Dasha Scott. He worked at Star Manufacturing. He is survived by great nieces, Harley Herriman of Cookeville, Bailey Herriman of McMinnville, and Olivia Martin of Cookeville; great-great-nieces, Delilah Francisco, Brylan Herriman, and July Herriman. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Viola for Graveside services, Monday April 15, 2024, at 1:00PM. There will be no visitation or services held at the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Scott family.




Theresa Marlaine Rigsby Williams

April 11, 2024

Theresa Marlaine Rigsby Williams, age 57 of Smithville, passed away at her residence Wednesday evening. She was of the Baptist faith and worked in the fast food industry.

Mrs. Williams was born on February 28, 1967 in South Bend, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents: Danny Rigsby and Patricia Bullard Cantrell and one brother: Danny Rigsby Jr.

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Survivors include 3 sons: Jason (Stephanie) Tirjan, Tyler Casteel and Michael Murphy, 2 daughters: Brandy and Patricia Murphy, 4 step-children: Michael Horton, Tiffany Horton, Tasha Williams and Dewayne Williams, 3 grandchildren: Caden Nelson, Kaelyn Tirjan and Lakelyn Tirjan, 2 sisters: Kim (Matthew) Troxell and Lisa Rigsby, special friends: Dora Lopez and Andria Horton and special aunt: Pamela Hale Pleasant.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations please be made to Love-Cantrell to help with funeral expenses.

Tammie Denise Geoghegan

April 7, 2024

Tammie Denise Geoghegan age 60 of Smithville, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. She was born December 12, 1963 to her parents, Elsie Hale Miller and the late Bobby Miller. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Cecil and Lela Pearl Hale and Odis and Laura Miller; aunt, Macon Hale. She attended Allen’s Chapel Church and was a caregiver. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, David Geoghegan of Smithville; children, Jennifer (Brian) Dunn and Jeffery (Amanda) Carter, Jr. both of Smithville; grandchildren, Tyler Dunn, Patyn Carter and Wyatt Carter; mother, Elsie Miller of Smithville; sisters, Carolyn Miller, Lisa Andrews, Tabby Wann and Misty Lassiter all of Smithville and brother, Billy Miller of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews that she adored. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 3 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, in memory of Tammie. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Geoghegan family.




Larry Dyer

April 4, 2024

Mr. Larry Dyer, age 63 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday evening, April 3, 2024 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a farmer and of The Baptist faith.

Mr. Dyer was born on August 22, 1960 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Gordon and Priscilla Pollard Dyer. He was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Paislee Cripps and Jesse Martin.

Visitation with the family will be in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-8pm and on Monday from 10am until the service time at 1pm. Burial will follow in Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery with Bro. Dewey Dyer officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ferrell Dyer of Smithville; 2 daughters, Priscilla (Tommy) Martin of Cannon County and Jessica (Tyler) Cripps of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren, Zach Martin of Cannon County, Josee Cripps and Tucker Cripps both of Alexandria, and Carter Martin of Cannon County; 2 brothers, Gary (Norma) Dyer of Smithville and Terry (Tammy) Dyer of Charleston, TN; 1 sister, Melissa Glenn (John Mingle) of Smithville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Mr. Larry.

Jean Mayo

April 1, 2024

Jean Mayo age 77, of the Gassaway community in Liberty, passed away at her home Sunday March 31, 2024. She was born July 14, 1946, to her parents the late Melvin and Mirlar Dodd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Robert Mayo; daughter, Judy Mayo; great-granddaughter, Paisley Todd; sister, Juanita Grissom; brother, Clyde Dodd. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and worked at Liberty Cee Bee. She is survived by son, Robert (June) Mayo, JR. of Gassaway; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Still of Lascassas, Justin (Ashley) Todd of Short Mountain, and Nicole Burger of Centertown; great-grandchildren, McKinlee, Pailynn, Madison, Addi, and Laki; niece, Tammy (Robert) Smith of Alexandria; nephews, Joe (Penny) Gunter of Short Mountain, and Steve Gunter of Smithville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 3, 2024, at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Richard Williams and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Riverside Gardens in Woodbury. Visitation will be held Tuesday 3 PM till 7 PM and on Wednesday 9:AM till the time of the service at 11:AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Mayo family.




Steven LeVan Gandy

March 29, 2024

Steven LeVan Gandy, age 42 of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning at Alive Hospice in Nashville of a short illness. He was an Army veteran who took great pride in serving his country. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the great outdoors.

Mr. Gandy was born on May 26, 1981 in Smithville, TN. He was preceded in death by his father: Steven Lee Gandy.

The family has chosen direct cremation. There will be a memorial service Monday, April 1, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Barry Boggs will officiate the service.

Survivors include his son: Micah Gandy and daughter: Nevaeh Gandy, Mother: Claudia Tatrow, 2 sisters: Leslie (Bruce) Parsley and Stephanie Sparks, Niece: Courtney (Dustin) Estes, Nephew: Connor Rice, 3 great-nieces: Cassidy Rice, Wyatt Estes and Lillian Estes all of Smithville. Several other nieces, nephews and close family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
