Joyce Ellen Bailey age 73 of Smithville, passed away Saturday morning, August 17, 2019 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. She was born May 18, 1946 to her parents, the late Fred and Pauline Hendrixson Johnston. She was affiliated with the Smithville Church of the Nazarene, a bus driver and former employee of Wal-Mart. She is survived by her son, John Thomas Bailey of Smithville. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at DeKalb Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

90 year old Thelma Yarnal of Smithville passed away Sunday at Life Care Center of Sparta. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Minnie Hamilton and husband, Clyde Yarnal. Survivors include her children, Janice Fisher of North Carolina, Donna Blair of Smithville, and Pamela and Bill Gilbert of Sparta. Eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Hamilton of Illinois; one sister, Betty Newman of Illinois and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Billy Roy Malone

Billy Roy Malone age 65 of Alexandria, passed away Friday morning, August 16, 2019 at his residence. He was born September 30, 1953 to his parents, Inez Hale Anderson and the late Marlin “Pa” Malone. Billy was a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church and worked in the Zinc Mine. He is survived by 2 children, Tara Stacey of Dowelltown and Travis Malone of Alexandria; 2 grandchildren, Taitum Stacey and Talan Gentry; mother, Inez Anderson of Alexandria; brother, Howard (Gail) Malone of Alexandria; niece, Christy (Joe) Smith of Alexandria; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel, in memory of Billy. Joyce Ponder Thomason age 81 of Smithville passed away Friday morning, August 16, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. She was born April 13, 1938 to her parents, the late Alex and Willie Belle Adcock Ponder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 brother, Bill Ponder. She was a member of the Church of God, a retired secretary and enjoyed artist painting. Joyce is survived by 4 sons, Terry (Chris) Mollinet and Ronnie (Tammy) Mollinet both of Smithville, Steve (Kathy) Thomason of McMinnville and Tony (Renee) Thomason of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Larry Ponder of West Virginia. Funeral services will be 4 PM Sunday, August 18, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 4 PM until 8 PMand Sunday 10 AM until the time of the service at 4 PM DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Dixie Estes Sweeton age 79 of Smithville passed away Friday morning August 16, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. She was born January 8, 1940 to her parents the late James William & Birty Mai Johnson Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son: Ricky Estes, 2 daughters: Lisa DeVault, Jenna Roller; Grandchildren: Carl Allen Young, Jerry Lee Estes; Brother: Willie Stanley; 2 sisters: Georgie Frazier, Lillian Taylor. She was a retired nursing home CNA and a Christian. Funeral service will be held 1:30PM Sunday August 18, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 4 PM until 8 PM and Sunday 10 AM until the time of service at 1:30PM. Walteen Caldwell Neely age 84 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday afternoon at NHC HealthCare Center. She was born August 10, 1935 to her parents, the late Walter and Ailene Hendrixson Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Neely. Walteen was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church and long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies Shrine. She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 son, Kevin (Rexanna) Neely of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Royce (Kara) Neely, Erica Denise (Ben) Goering, Jeremiah Joseph (Monique) Pasley, Tabatha Marie (Deron) Batey, Jeffrey Daryl (Holly) Pasley, Matthew Allen Pasley; 9 great-grandchildren, Jericho Zachariah Neely, Lazarus Clarence Neely, Jeremy Scott Fink, Dominic Leon (Brittany) Pasley, Landon Pasley, Miah Pasley Elijah Scott, Sideny Scott, Skylar Scott; 1 great-great-grandchild, Blayke Marie Pasley; 1 sister, Sarah Ellen Colwell of Dowelltown. Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at DeKalb Fuenral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Thomason officiating and burial will follow in Keltonburg Cemetery.
