Jackie Ray Crips, age 69, of Smithville Tennessee, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at his Woodbury home following an extended illness. Mr. Crips was the son of the late Jim Robert and Goldie Irene Melton Crips.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Timothy Joe Crips and Jerry Lane Crips, sisters Beverly Diane Crips and Jimmie Irene Crips Carter.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anita Faye Knox Crips daughter, Jennifer Irene Crips Collins, son-in-law Mark Anthony Collins, grandson Robert Dalton Collins and granddaughter Taylor Riley Collins; Sons, Jackie Ray Crips Jr, Jamie Lee Crips and Jimmy Robert Crips, granddaughter Alex Morgan Crips and Weston Robert Kenamer Crips Daughter, Angela Dawn Hoover Stroh, son-in-law Shawn Stroh, granddaughters Lacy Elizabeth Stroh and Allie Kate Stroh. Brothers, Douglas Don Crips and wife Gail, Thomas Edward Crips and late wife Ann, Melvin Leon Crips and wife Leeann, Ricky Gene Crips, Billy J. Crips and wife Toni and sister Cathy Sue Crips Jiminez and many special nieces and nephews. Lastly his faithful little white dog, Quinzel, “Bob Barker”, who was his constant shadow.
Jackie was a “jack of all trades”, skilled in Carpentry, roofing, and painting and was also a Butcher. Jackie was an avid collector of antiques, coins, and stamps. He loved tinkering with clocks. He had an amazing green thumb and artistic talents. He loved fishing, hunting, and most of all his family. Jackie loved to cook and made the best pies around town. Our best memories will always be gathered around the kitchen table. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and that “Crips” laugh.

His family will receive friends, Friday January 3, 2024 starting at 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Curlee cemetery. Pallbearers include Mark Collins, Robbie Crips, Ricky Crips, Harley Crips, Stephan Crips, and Noah Crips.

Ricky Hendrixson

Ricky Hendrixson age of 60 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday morning, December 25, 2024 surrounded by family and his four-legged companion, Tank. He was born September 1, 1964 to his parents the late Louise Pinegar Hendrixson and the late J.D. Hendrixson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Jerry, Randall, and Phillip Hendrixson. Ricky was a Baptist and a nursery worker. He is survived by his daughter, Natasha (Nathanyel) Pedigo; a step-son, Nathan Trapp; grandchildren, Kenadee and Katie Pedigo; a brother, Bobby (Joyce) Hendrixson; mother of his children, Renee Hendrixson; brother-in-law, Timmy (Angie) Foutch; special friend, Ernie Lynam; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of Smithville. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, December 27, 2024 at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Gentiva Hospice (Bobbie Sue) for the compassionate care provided during Ricky’s battle with cancer. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. Beverly Ann Adcock, age 77 of Nashville, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at Summit Medical Center in Nashville. She was of the Baptist faith and a retired beauty expert at Walgreens.
She was born on September 23, 1947 in Smyrna, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Adcock; parents, Buford and Elsie Redmon Wright.
Visitation with the Adcock family will be on Thursday from 2:30 to 7:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 until the service time at 11:00 am in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Wendy and Kenny England of Mt. Juliet; 2 sons, Ricky (Kim) Adcock of Mt. Juliet and Randy (Cherie) Adcock of Old Hickory; 4 grandchildren, Brady (Parker) England of Mt. Juliet, Jeremy (Shannon) Adcock of Norene, Hunter Adcock and Olivia Adcock of Murfreesboro; 2 Step-grandchildren, Kassie (Tim) Burkeen of Mt. Juliet (Gregg) Medlin of Oregon; 3 Great-Grandchildren; Conner Adcock, Carson Adcock and Samuel Adcock; Step-Great Grandchild, Nora Burkeen; 1 sister, Rita Deaver of North Carolina; 2 nieces; Greylin (Mike) Boscia of Georgia and Lindsay (Travis) Newton of North Carolina; 2 great nieces, Alexa Newton and Haven Newton .

Frank D. Thomas

Frank D. Thomas, age 85, of Liberty, passed away at his residence on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born in Liberty, TN on October 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Willie Noble and Bobbie Gibbs Thomas. Frank was a long-time grave digger, known for digging many graves by hand, and a local celebrity. He owned part of Salem Cemetery and Frank Thomas Monuments and served as a former county commissioner.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty Duke Thomas of Liberty; his grandson, Jonathon Thomas of Liberty; granddaughter, Crystal Street of Liberty; his sister-in-law, Sheila Thomas of Smithville; and special friends, Ken and Jamie Vickers of Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Bobbie Thomas; his son, Donald Thomas; and his three brothers, Ben Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, and Robert Thomas.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2pm at Salem Cemetery.

James T. Smith

James T. Smith, age 90 was born September 2, 1934 in Leeville, TN and departed this life on Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2024 at NHC HealthCare in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Jewell Smith; son, Jesse Scott Smith; parents, James Webb Smith and Johnnie Fisher Sloan Smith; brother, Robert Sloan Smith, Edwin Smith and Albert Smith; sisters, Alice Kelley Little, Mayme Wilson, Naomie Holland, Nancy McMillan and Mary Hagan. James served in the Army Reserve. He worked at several building and roof truss companies. He was retired from Indian Mound boys home as the Agriculture Teacher. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Kelley Smith Garrett and her husband, Scott of Cookeville; grandchildren, Austin Scott Garrett and wife, Amber of Murfreesboro; Sloane Garrett Hill and husband, Hayden of Cookeville and Jeremy Scott Smith of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Mary Kendall Garrett, Hallee Smith, Tiffany Smith and Cheyenne Smith; sister, Martha Bone and her husband, Stratton of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:AM Friday, December 20, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Larry Green officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Thursday 4 PM until 7 PM and Friday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory Mr. Smith. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Smith family.
William “Tojo” Cantrell

William “Tojo” Cantrell, age 57, of Smithville, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Ascensions St. Thomas Rutherford. Born on April 27, 1967, in McMinnville, TN, he was the son of the late Donald Ray and Violet Ann Cantrell. William was a nurseryman and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sonya Caldwell Cantrell, and his son, Carl Ray Cantrell of Smithville. He also leaves behind three stepchildren, Blake Mitchell, Terry Joe Mitchell, and Aleaha Miler, all of Smithville. William is also survived by his sisters, Becky Cantrell and Anita (Scott) Adams, and his brother, Andy Cantrell, all of Smithville. His mother-in-law, Pamela Turner, sisters-in-law, Sherry (Joe) Daniels and Sabrina (Billy) Parker, and brother-in-law, Corey (Alisha) Turner, all of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also mourn his passing.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Violet Cantrell, his great-niece, Rayleigh Violet Scruggs, and his grandparents, William and Henrietta Cantrell, and George and Annie Silvers.
Visitation with the Cantrell family will be on Thursday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Bro. Nathan Thomason will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
