Annie Elaine McGuire

Annie Elaine McGuire also known to many as “Aunt Thang,” age 66 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night, June 24, 2025, at her sister’s home.  She was born October 31, 1958 to her parents, the late Clarence Cecil and Nancy Lillian Hale Neal.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren, Oaklynn Messina and Emery Russell; 2 sisters, Bobbie Jean Houk and Loretta Bain; 2 brothers, LW Neal and Douglas Neal.  She worked in construction home cleaning.  Elaine leaves to cherish her memory, 3 daughters, Linda Brock (Roy Murphy) of Alexandria, Crystal (Billy Jo) Sandell of Baxter and Stephanie (Joey) Redmon of Dowelltown; grandchildren, Aaron (Vanessa) Brock, JoAmber (James) Messina, Dillyn (Alicia) Keith, Corey (Nicole) McCloud, Alyssa (Leah) Russell, Shawn Woods, Brionna Neeley, Erica Elaine Redmon and Rylee Redmon; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Linda Knowles and Pat Sanders both of Smithville.  Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, June 30, 2025 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.  The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Gentiva Hospice for the love and care shown to Elaine.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the McGuire family.  



Idan Alberto Estudillo Gutierrez

Idan Alberto Estudillo Gutierrez age 21 of Smithville, passed away early Saturday morning, June 21, 2025 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.  He was born January 22, 2004 in Matias Romero, Oaxaca Mexico.  He worked in roofing and was a Catholic.  There will be a Funeral Mass at 5 PM Friday, June 27, 2025 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial will be in Mexico.  Visitation will be on Friday 1PM until the time of the service at 5 PM.  He is survived by his parents, Valentina Gutierrez Dominquez and Juon Manuel Carrillo Soto; siblings, Dylan, Brayden, Dayami and Jhoselinne; grandparents, Domingo Gutierrez Carbajal and Antonieta Dominquez Suarez; fiancé, Lelin Valladares; In-laws, Yeni and Eddy Valladares.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care of the Gutierrez family.  



Tommy Lowe Curtis

Tommy Lowe Curtis went to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 19, 2025 following a short illness. Born in 1939, Tommy was the son of Jozy Curtis and Nora T. Askew Curtis. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and Joe Richard. Tommy is survived by his wife of 68 years Virginia Reeder Curtis, his children, Kathy (Mike Seyman), Kandy and Kirk, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A graduate of Belmont College and Southwestern Baptist theological Seminary, Tommy pastored churches in Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania and New York; throughout his 40 years ministry, he preached in 15 states at 115 churches. He began his ministry at New Hope Baptist Church in Alexandria, TN in 1963 and preached his last sermon in that same pulpit in May 2024.

Visitation will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Monday, June 23 from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. followed by the service at 1 p.m.  Bro. Dave Shelley, Bro. Ronnie Smith and Bro. Ricky Skaggs will officiate. Burial will be in the Old New Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the maintenance fund of the Old New Hope Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Great Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, our neighbors and friends, especially Dr. Kevin Rhody, Daphne Hobbs and Chelsey Smith for their support and care through Tommy’s final days here on earth. HUNTER FUNERAL HOME 615-237-9318
