Jerry Ray George

Jerry Ray George, age 73, of Liberty passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home. He was a native of Cannon Co.Survivors include his mother, Anna Mae Snow George of Woodbury; Sons, Timothy (Susie) George of Manchester & Danny George of Gassaway; Grandchildren, Amelia George & Hannah Tetters; and Brother, Curtis (Jeannie) George of Bradyville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Braxton George.
Mr. George was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church and was a factory worker and truck driver. He also operated the Liberty Dance Hall.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 8 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the funeral home.

Sammy Holmes

January 5, 2018

Sammy Holmes, of Lebanon, passed away on January 2, 2018 at age 62. The family will be accepting friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. The Funeral Service is 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Butler Cemetery, Jackson County TN. Pallbearers: Raymond Brooks, Jason Harp, Phillip Holmes, Shannon Harp, Dewayne Bain, Wayne Woodard, Randy Whited, and Wally Webb. Honorary Pallbearers: Daryl Young and Bobby Rader. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Cooper, nurse Melinda Taylor, and the nurses, staff, and patients of NHC Smithville. Sammy is preceded in death by parents Simon Casper Sr. and Georgie Dixon Holmes, sisters Sadie Irene Holmes, Mamie Marie McMahon, brothers Herbert Juvy Holmes, James Darrell Holmes, and Mack Howard Holmes, sister-in-law Jean Holmes, and brothers-in-law Eugene Whited and Nathan McClure. He is survived by sisters Ruth McClure, Betty Whited, Sue (Finis) Baines, Estelle (Jimmy D.) Harp, Nancy (Robbie) Harp, Mary (Albert) Colwell, Judy (Jimmy) Lynch, Nora (Jeff) Parker, and Linda (Norman) Webb; brother Herman Holmes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ronald Timothy Jennings, Jr.

January 4, 2018

Ronald Timothy Jennings, Jr., age 46, a McMinnville, TN resident and native was born March 10, 1971 and died January 4, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. He was an employee of Lojac, member of Westwood Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon, and son of Ronnie and Regina Jennings of McMinnville.
Mr. Jennings was married August 2, 1991 to Debbie Deason Jennings who survives. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two sons, Ryan Jennings and Wesley Jennings both of McMinnville; daughter, Samantha Jennings of McMinnville; brother, Brian Keith Jennings and wife Jodi of McMinnville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Norma Deason; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale and Katie Deason of Florida, Tim and Beth Deason of McMinnville, Kevin and Angie Deason of Viola; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lori and Brad Mason of Doyle, Jennifer and Scott Moore of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Church family at Westwood.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Westwood Church of Christ with Bob Deason, Tim Deason and Richard O’Connor to officiate. Interment will follow in Shellsford Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at Westwood. There will be no service or visitation at High’s.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westwood Youth Group and Missions or American Cancer Society.

Floyd Earl Cantrell

Mr. Floyd Earl Cantrell of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 15, 1944 to his parents, the late Hamp and Effie Pack Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Hamp Cantrell, Jr., James “Lucky” Cantrell and Ray Donald Cantrell; 2 sisters, Mildred Green and Dorothy Hutchins. Floyd was a carpenter and a Primitive Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Cantrell of Smithville; 4 children, Randal (Kandy) Cantrell of Smithville, Carlos Godsey of McMinnville, Debbie Murphy of Knoxville and Harley Godsey of Smithville; 2 grandchildren, Mykel Cantrell and Kaycee Rossa both of Manchester; 2 great-grandchildren, Breyden Rossa and August Cantrell; 2 sisters, Ruth Tabor of Crossville and Betty Norris of Liberty; 2 brothers, Buster (Brenda) Cantrell of Woodbury and Larry (Anita) Cantrell of Watertown; 3 sisters-in-law, Debbie Suarez of Dowelltown, Cindy (Vick) Loden of Rockwood and Dorothy VanPatten of New York; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Friday, January 5, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Thomason officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 1 PM until 8 PM and Friday 9 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Georgia Frances Johnson

January 3, 2018

Georgia Frances Johnson, 87 of Smithville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Webb House Retirement Center in Smithville. Born Thursday, November 6, 1930 in Smithville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Rufus and Lassie Hendrixson Fuson. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Austin Johnson. Special thank you to the care givers at The Webb House.
Funeral will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at The First Assembly of God in Smithville with John and Kay Quintaro and Jan Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 10am until the time of service at the church.

Bobbye Ruth Fish

Bobbye Ruth Fish age 90 of Smithville, passed away Saturday night, December 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 18, 1927 to her parents, the late Robert Taylor and Era Gill Taylor Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Will T. Fish; 2 sisters, Eufaula Turner and Ofala Watson; granddaughter, Torie Danyell Stacey. Ms. Bobby Ruth was a retired shirt factory worker and a member of the Smithville Church of God. She leaves to cherish her memory, 4 children, Galen (Darschell) Fish of Smithville, Michael (Tabatha) Fish of Brush Creek, Diana Fish Clayborn and Regina Malone both of Smithville; half-brother, Robert L. (Jackie) Taylor, Jr. of Lebanon and a beloved sister-in-law, Bobbye Sue Fish of Smithville. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Wednesday January 3, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris Moore officiating and burial to follow in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 12 Noon until 8 PM and Wednesday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Smithville Church of God, Building Fund in memory of Ms. Bobbye Ruth. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
