The DeKalb County Library Board will have their bi-monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Justin Potter Library. The public is welcome to attend the meeting.
Justin Potter Library’s 2015 Summer Reading Program “Every Hero Has a Story!”
Registration for the Summer Reading Club & Read-to-me Club begins on May 28th and will run through June 22nd. Children set their own reading goal and will receive a participation certificate.

DeKalb Animal Coalition Presents "Fish on the Steeple" with DeKalb County Historian Thomas G. Webb on Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the DeKalb County Complex, History Room. Admission is $10 per person. Light refreshments will be available. Proceeds from this evening's entertainment will go toward building a new animal shelter for our community. All contributions are tax deductible. Learn about the book that scandalized Smithville in the 1930's. Learn the identity of Smithville's citizens upon whom the books characters were based. Tech Talk is hoping for a big warm welcome to WJLE and that a lot of listeners will tune in on Thursday mornings at 8:00am to listen and call in with their questions.
The DeKalb County Schools Art Exhibit will be Saturday, May 30 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the DeKalb County Complex at 712 South Congress Boulevard featuring arts from the students of DeKalb County. The DeKalb Soil Conservation District along with the TN Wildlife Resources Agency(TWRA) are giving away a free 1-10lb bag of wildlife food plot seed while supplies lasts. One bag will sow a ¼ acre. This will help feed the deer, turkeys and songbirds. The mix includes: Millet, Soybeans, Cow peas, and Black Oil Sunflower seeds.
Come by the Soil Conservation office located at the USDA Service Center, 647 Bright Hill Road.
