Tigers Win, Ladies Lose at Cannon County
The DeKalb County Lady Tigers are still looking for their second district win of the season after losing to the Cannon County Lionettes at Woodbury Friday night 61 to 50.
The Tigers, however, picked up another district victory as they tamed the Lions 63 to 42.
In the first game, the Lady Tigers edged Cannon County 14 to 13 after the first period and kept it close in the second quarter, though they fell behind 29 to 24 at halftime. The Lionettes extended their lead to eight points, 39 to 31 by the end of the third quarter, and went onto win 61 to 50, outscoring the Lady Tigers 22 to 19 in the fourth period.
Kristina Stephens and Martha Webb each scored 13 points for the Lady Tigers. Cynthia Woodward had 11 points. Brooke Hutchings 7, Alex Meadows 4, and Nikki Bass had 2.
In the second game, DeKalb County held a 13 to 8 lead after the first period and built a 29 to 16 advantage by halftime. The Tigers were up 45 to 33 after the third quarter and won the game 63 to 42.
Tigers Win at Coffee County
The DeKalb County Tigers enjoyed a double digit win over the Coffee County Red Raiders at Manchester Thursday night. The final score was 61 to 39.
The Tigers are now 14 and 9 on the season with a date against the Cannon County Lions Friday night in Woodbury.
The Tigers led 11 to 4 after first period, 24 to 14 at halftime, and 42 to 26 after the third period before winning 61 to 39.
DeKalb County outscored Coffee County 13 to 10 in the second period, 18 to 12 in the third quarter, and 19 to 13 in the fourth period.
Payne Denman scored 19 for the Tigers. Zach Neal 10, Hunter Poteete 9, Seth Willoughby 8, Sonni Young 7, Destry Wiggins 4, and Abram Edwards, and Ethan Hale each with 2.
WJLE will broadcast both games LIVE Friday night from Cannon County starting with the girls contest at 6:00 p.m.
Lady Tigers Drop Road Game at Coffee County
The Coffee County Lady Red Raiders came from behind to defeat the DeKalb County Lady Tigers Thursday night at Manchester 51 to 47.
With the loss, DeKalb County falls to 14 and 9 on the season.
The Lady Tigers led 16 to 10 after the first period and 22 to 17 at halftime. The Lady Red Raiders cut the DeKalb County lead to one point by the end of the third period 34 to 33 and outscored the Lady Tigers 18 to 13 in the fourth period to come from behind and win 51 to 47.
Cynthia Woodward scored 21 for the Lady Tigers. Martha Webb had 11, Kristina Stephens 10, Alex Meadows with 3, and Morgan Page with 2 points.

Lady Tigers Win, Tigers Fall to Gordonsville
The DeKalb County Lady Tigers knocked off the visiting Gordonsville Tigerettes 53 to 49 Tuesday night in Smithville, but the Black and Gold Tigers lost the boys game 76 to 70.
In the girls contest, Gordonsville led 13 to 10 after the first period and 26 to 23 at halftime, as each team scored 13 points in the second period. Gordonsville maintained it's three point edge at the end of the third quarter 33 to 30, as both teams scored seven points in the period. But in the fourth quarter, DeKalb County outscored the visitors 23 to 16 and won the game by four points, 53 to 49.
Martha Webb led the team in scoring with 18 points. Cynthia Woodward had 14, Brooke Hutchings with 9, Alex Meadows 8, Mercedes Luna 3, and Kristina Stephens had 1 points.
Upperman Bees Sting Tigers and Lady Tigers
The DeKalb County High School basketball teams felt the sting of the Upperman Bees and Lady Bees Tuesday night at Baxter.
Upperman won the girls game 58 to 37 and took the boys game 63 to 49.
With the losses, both the Tigers and Lady Tigers slip to 13-8 on the season. In the district, the DeKalb girls are now 1-5 while the boys go to 2-4.
In the girls game, Upperman led 14 to 11 after the first period, 33 to 22 at halftime, and 43 to 31 after the third period, before going on to win 58 to 37. Upperman outscored DeKalb 19 to 11 in the second period, 10 to 9 in the third quarter, and 15 to 6 in the fourth.
Martha Webb scored 10 points for the Lady Tigers. Cynthia Woodward and Kristina Stephens each had 8, Alex Meadows with 7, and Mercedes Luna had 4 points.
DCHS Teams Win Saturday Night Games
The DCHS basketball teams played a couple of make-up games with Coffee County Saturday night in Smithville and won both contests.
The Lady Tigers prevailed in a low scoring game 38 to 29 while the Tigers knocked off the visitors 66 to 53.
In the girls game, DeKalb County led 10 to 9 after the first period but Coffee County outscored the Lady Tigers 8 to 3 in the second period and grabbed a 17 to 13 lead at half time. But in the second half, the Lady Tiger regained the advantage, outscoring Coffee County 9 to 4 in the third period and 16 to 8 in the fourth. DeKalb County led 22 to 21 after the third period and went on to win 38 to 29.
Cynthia Woodward had 9 points for DeKalb County followed by Alex Meadows, Martha Webb, and Kristina Stephens each with 7 points. Morgan Page scored 6 and Nikki Bass had 2 points.
