Warren County Hands Tigers First Loss of Basketball Season, Lady Tigers Rebound with Win

The Warren County Pioneers handed the DeKalb County Tigers a 72-59  loss Monday night in Smithville. Their first defeat of the young basketball season. The Lady Tigers got back in the win column with a 45 to 39 victory against their border rivals.

In the boys game the Pioneers led 22 to 11 after the 1st period and 38 to 29 at halftime. The Tigers fought back to grab a 49 to 48 lead after the 3rd period but were outscored in the 4th quarter and lost 72 to 59.

Luke Jenkins led the way in scoring with 12 points followed by Dallas Cook 11, Evan Jones 10, Brayden Antoniak 9, Michael Elswick and Jordan Young each with 5, Elishah Ramos 4, and Alan Munoz with 3 points.

For the ladies, DC led 8 to 4 after the 1st period. The game was tied at 19 by halftime. The Lady Tigers held a 33 to 30 lead after the 3rd period and went on to win 45 to 39.

Emme Colwell scored 20 points. Megan Walker 9. Mya Ruch 6. Megan Cantrell and Gracie Griffin each had 3 while Kenzie France and Madison Martin each with 2 points.

DeKalb County travels to Sparta tonight (Tuesday) to take on White County starting with the girls game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys contest. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
