Tigers Tame Lions 41-10 in Homecoming Game

The DeKalb County High School Tigers celebrated the last night of Spirit week Friday with a 41-10 homecoming victory over their border rivals from Cannon County.

The Tigers struck with 4:53 left in the 1st period on a 4 yard touchdown run by Colby Barnes. Alan Munoz converted the PAT and DeKalb County led 7-0.

Dylan Denson capped a 57 yard scoring drive on a 1 yard touchdown run with 9:19 left in the 2nd period. Munoz added the extra point and the Tigers led 14-0.

Quarterback Axel Aldino scored on an 8 yard keeper with 6:20 left in the 2nd period. Munoz booted the extra point and DeKalb County ‘s lead was 21-0.

Aldino found Munoz on a 10 yard touchdown pass with 26 seconds left before the half. The PAT try by Munoz was no good but the Tigers held a 27-0 lead by halftime.

The Tigers scored on the opening kick of the third period on an 87 yard return by Desmond Nokes. Aldino scored on the 2 point conversion run and DeKalb County led 35-0.

Colby Barnes scored his second touchdown of the game on a 15 yard run with 1:20 left in the 3rd period. The PAT attempt by Munoz was no good but DeKalb County led 41-0.

Cannon County got on the board with 10:40 left in the 4th period on a 58 yard touchdown pass play from Jamal Barrett to Brady Cunningham. The 2 point conversion pass from Barrett to Lavell Rogers was good and the Lions trailed 41-8.

The Lions got a safety as a high snap sailed over Tiger quarterback Kolter Kilgore’s head into the DC endzone with 5:10 left in the game. DeKalb County went on to win 41-10.

DeKalb County improves to 3-3 (1-0) on the season while Cannon County drops to 2-4. The Tigers will visit Livingston Academy in a region showdown next Friday night, October  4 at 7:00 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage. The Wildcats are 6-0 (2-0).
